I have just received marriage cert of a John Alfred Chantler full age Pianoforte Maker to Maria Letchford full age in St Marylebone in 1857. I would ask a big favour of someone and have a rummage either in 1861 ot 1871 census. Sometimes Chantler is spelt wrongly Chandler. Many many thanks Linda

I found this one in 1881... Hannah Chandler abt 1847 St Giles Dudley St Wife St James Henry Chandler abt 1865 St James Westminster Son St James John Chandler abt 1840 Marylebone Head St James Could he be yours? He's a Pianoforte Tuner

Hi Tracy I've found this John in 1881 also, but it states his wife is Hannah not Maria. Because there is a large gap from their marriage 1857 to 1881 John might have married or by 1881 he might have changed his occupation to Furniture/Cabinet maker, that's why 1861/1871 is needed. Hi I've had a look at the 1871 census George Chantler 63 Sussex, England Lodger St Pancras London Maria Chantler 53 Surrey, England Wife St Pancras London Thomas Chantler 20 Kent, England Son St Pancras London Ann Hall 84 Norfolk, England Mother St Pancras London This is the only Maria. There is no indication who is the head, it's very hard to read the image but I think is had George's occupation as Piano forte hammer co..... (not sure of last word). Is this any good or am I just confusing matters even more. Michelle
