Coroners report 1930?

My gr grandfather commited suicide in 1930,does anyone know if was such things as coroners reports ect back then and if able to get a copy of it we know how he did it but no idea why Kazzie |

Hi Kazzie Yes coroners reports were done then, i don't know if its the same for all areas. I asked about one carried out in Liverpool and was told they are destroyed after 25 years. Give your nearest central library a call they should be able to help. Julie |

Kazzie Coroners reports are routinely destroyed :-( but you can usually find an account of proceedings in the local newspapers, which are on microfilm in either the relevant county records office or local history centre or library. I found my great-grandfather's inquest reported in a local paper in just this way. Only a paragraph, but it added more detail to the info I had on the death cert. Nell |

Thanks for that Kal will try that if find where the coroners office is here in Dorset,I didnt realise so many people took their own lives back,all I know is mine was a really depresed man maybe caused by something hed seen during ww1 as know he was in Navy Kazzie |
