I've just checked through the Aquilla Parkes details I've been sent and it dosn't match up enough to make a conclusion. My Aquilla Parkes was shown as a Miner which matches up with the Aquila born in the 1820's. However I am still stuck as to the existence of this man between 1871 and beyond. This thread has helped me eliminate some things and at least if no one else can find him I know it's not just me. I've contacted John who was mentioned earlier on the thread and he has no info after 1861 either. Thank you again for all the help everyone. I'll keep plugging away. Knowing my Luck he didn't marry Eliza anyway he probabaly married the other woman on the page and I'm completely off track. Cheers again Jen |

Hi Jenny It looks like we have two people here, one born 1826 or 1828, married 1850 and died 1884, and the other the one alive in 1891. The 1826 and 1828 birth dates are clearly guesses based on different estimates of average age at marriage, and would need research in Parish records to verify a date of birth or baptism. The Aquila Parkes of 1891 should have been born between April 1842 and March 1843 to be 48 years old. He would be unlikely to be the son of Aquillia Parsons if the latter were really born in 1826 or 1828. Furthermore, if he were with a wife called Mary in 1891, he would be unlikely to be the person who married Eliza White in 1874, even though 1874 is a perfectly plausible date for his marriage. I expect you know by now the danger of jumping to conclusions in these matters. Regards Stan |

I don't think the Parkes family on the 1891 census is a transcription error. They are listed in 1881 as Parkes and on FreeBMD. Crista |

I've just spotted him on the 1891 census, transcribed as AQUILA PARKES born Rowley Regis, aged 48, living with his wife Mary & 8 children, the youngest of which is also called Aquila. Email me if you would like the census document, I will send by return Regards Sam |

Hi Jenny I have just had a look at the ancestry world trees entries that Samantha mentioned in her message. It seems the man that put the information up has loads of info on this family and he updated his file on 2nd April so the email address for him may still be current. May be worth you contacting him. John(.)Hirons(at sign)bigfoot(.)com Remove the brackets! Why you cannot type webaddresses etc on this message board is beyond me, it is really annoying! Hope this helps Sharon |

Thanks for the info, I found the marriages in 1850 and 1874. I'm trying to track down where Aquilla was because I'm trying to see if the same Aquilla that married in 1850 remarried in 1874 or if it is a son etc. I'm interested in the marriage in 1874 because I think he married an Eliza White who had an illegitimate son in 1871 who she named James Parsons-White and Aquilla is named as the father on James's marriage certificate but then it is crossed out. Very confusing. The man seems to have disappeared completely. I think I found Eliza in a workhouse in Dudley in 1881 but it shows her as unmarried but with the surname Parsons so I'm very confused. (Sorry not much help am I ) |

In 1881 there were 181 Aquillas, there does'nt appear to be an Aquilla Parsons though. |

I'm in desperate need of some help please. I'm looking for information on Aquilla Parsons from the Rowley Regis area. I'm trying to find any occurances of this name between 1871 and 1901. I've got information up to 1861 and then the trail goes cold. Can anyone please help. The only info I've got is a possible marriage in 1874 but I could really do with some cenus returns. Can anyone find him? |
