Trying to find Myers

I am trying to trace my great grandfather who I believe was named William and as far as I can ascertain came from the Paisley area. I have been told he had an uncle John who emigrated to Canada and married Jeanie in 1848 in Berlin, Ontario, Canada. The above is as accurate as I can get at this stage.

I now believe that William and John were brothers and William was born in 1821. It seems he emigrated to Australia and married Elizabeth Malcom/Malcolm born 1832 (possibly Stephen from a first marriage) in 1865. It seems that William was born in Edinburgh and Elizabeth came from Paisley. Isn't it amazing what one can find that contradicts family lore.
