My gr gr gr grandmother Lovinia Hyett daughter of Thomas Highet/Hyett and Emma Ball was born in Harrison Hudson New Jersey in 1889 (Latter Day Saints records) Her brother Thomas's grandson told me she was born in Newark/Queens.

The family knew her as Lavinia Highet-which is on her death certificate.

The story goes that as a young child she arrived alone on a ship to Scotland-poss Greenock. She then shows on the 1901 census, she was 11 living with her Highet grandparents in Kilmarnock. Her mother and father not in house. Think her father went to New York from Liverpool on the Aurania in 1886.

Her father remarried in Glasgow 1900. The family have no info about Emma Ball, other than she is on Thomas's death certificate as a widow along with his second wife.

It would solve a family mystery to find out what happened to Emma.
Ex where did she die, did she marry Thomas Highet
Thanks
