Hi
I'm trying to trace my husbands maternal line.

His mother was born in Graz, Austria in 1928.

I have her birth certificate along with a handful of other certificates including some death certificates, another birth and a marriage certificate.

I have managed to translate these and have the information so I can go back a couple of generations on her mothers side however only have her fathers name on her birth cert (no certs held for paternal line).

Any suggestions how i can go about my research? I've looked on the IGI but can't find his birth.

Hi Paul

Aloisia Maria Kremser was born on 5/2/1928 in Graz, Austria. (birth cert held)

Her father is listed as Franz Kremser and mother was Maria Krenn. I know Maria Krenn was killed on 16/10/1944 along with her other daughter Emma Anna Kremser during a bombing raid. (death certs held)

Maria Krenn's parents were Martin Krenn born 13/9/1867 and Theresia Wolf born 6/11/1864. Martin and Theresia were married on 14/5/1895. (cert held)

Martin Krenn's parents were Josef Krenn and Cacillia Lichtenegger.

Theresia Wolf's parents were Josef Wolf and Theresia Steirer.

I beleive the region of Austria is shown as Heiligenkreuz/W, Leibnitz, Steiermark.

As you can see I can go back a little way on the maternal side however have hit a brick wall on the paternal side of Kremser.

Hi Donna
I know nothing about Franz other than him showing as father on the birth cert of my mother in law. It states he was a rail road worker.

have a look at the following links

http://www.austrianfamilyhistory.org/ and another alternative would be to just search google by name, you never know what might come up.
