I am looking for Lloyd Burpee Armstrong, Don't really know that much as my husband was adopted after his mother passed away when he was very young, he was placed into a home.
Lloyd married Winifred Cranford. Had a son in 1953.
That is really as much as we know. The son was placed in a home in addington Surrey UK.

has your husband applied for his adoption records it may give more clues as to his dads whereabouts at the time he was put into the home

we have enquired about them but were told without birth dates for his parents he can not go any further.
On his birth cert it has no date of births for mum or date just names and where born.

Birth certs for children dont show any dates of birth for the parents, i guess you have only short version of birth cert which i believe is normal for adopted children, I really dont know why he has been told he cant see his records without knowing his birth parents dates ,that doesnt seem right after all how would he ,or anyone adopted know that info,.

He has the right to see his adoption record . there are threads on here re adoption if you put adoption in search

The mum that adopted my husband refused point blank to allow him to know anything about his biological parents.
She died last year, shortly follwed by his step dad, we started looking for Lloyd a few years ago as well as named my son after him, he is now almost 11.
If anyone can help please do.

found this info

if you go to www.gro.gov.uk and click into adoptions it will explain the procedure on how you can apply for his original birth certificate (if he hasn't already got it) and adoption file.
Also, it explains the pre 1975 mandatory counselling that is necessary
