Hi everyone, I am trying to trace a Robert Walker of Whitby who married Annie Holmes and whose son Samuel Marion Walker was born in Bridge Point Pennsylvania USA in 1827. My family oral history says they were Quakers, but the Quaker BDM record for this period aren't available anywhere that I can find thro my local Geneology Society. I would appreciate any suggestions or info that might help me find more about Robert and his family.

Hi Cathie
My ancestors were also Quakers in Whitby, a fact I am cursing them for. otherwise they would invariably been at the Battle of Trafalgar as they owned ships. their name was Gaskin. I did live in Whitby during the war with my mother which is that side. Walker is or was a prominent name there. Looking in the Baines Whitby Directory of 1823 there is a James Walker Attorney of Baxtergate.
I have got one Gaskin left in Whitby who might be able to help more.

Try asking on "thewhitbygroup" on Yahoo Groups, they are normally very helpful.
