Thanks for the info I will certainly look into this. Finding this side of the family difficult as it is my husbands side and we don't have much to go on.

Hi again.
Birth of Albert William Summers. 1858 Jan/March Qtr. reg in Cheltenham Glos. vol 6a 378.

If the marriage certificate shows the Father of Albert William as George then a copy of the birth certificate will give both parents, and hopefully, the maiden name of the Mother, who I think will be Harriet.

This is a possibility.
1901. Gloucester.
Albert. 44. Sawyer. Born Gloucestershire
Jane. 41. Born Gloucestershire as are the rest.
George. 18.Sawyer
Frederick. 15.Builders Labourer
James. 13.
Charles. 10.
Earnest. 8.
Edith. 2.

Also Possible.
1861. 10 Victoria Sq. Cheltenham
George. 36. Cook and confectioner. Born Cheltenham.
Harriett. 34. Born Painswick
George F 12. Born Cheltenham as are the rest.
Ann Lous????? 11
Julia Maria. 9
Amelia Augusta 8
Henry Frank. 6.
Albert William. 3.
Edward Richard. 1.

The reason that Edward is shown on the records with two regfistration pages and Volumes is that there is doubt on the Number 3 or 8.

I hope this helps. Let me know. and if you get the maiden name of Harriet we can have another look for the marriage if this is proved to be the Grandparents of Edward. Ethel.

Hi Josephine. I am not connected but had a look for you.
Albert William Summers married Jane Sexstone. 1881 July/Sept. Qtr. registered in Gloucester. vol 6a 435.
This sounds the couple you are looking for.
I will have another look and see if I can find them on census records, but worth getting a copy of the marriage certificate as it will give their ages, their Father's names and occupations, and witnesses who may be siblings. Ethel.

This is Edwards birth, he seems to have been recorded twice for some reason.

Births Sep 1907 (>99%)
Summers Edward Augustus Gloucester 6a 309
SUMMERS Edward Augustus Gloucester 6a 809

I cannot find any sexton/summer marriages other than one for a James Sexton marrying a Summers and an Alfred Sexton marrying a Summers!!

Edwards birth certificate would provide both parents names etc.

How do you know that his parents were William and Jane?

I am trying to discover the parents of Edward Augustus Summers born 1907 in Gloucester, they are recorded as William Summers and Jane Sexton, I am unable to go beyond this connection. has anybody the information to share to allow me to progress.
