How do I go about loking at Parish records.
I m looking for the marriage of James Richardson Moore and Maud Carney.
Their daughter seems to think that they got married at Holy Trinity Church in Sunderland Co Durham.
It would of been between 1908 and 1923.
Can anyone help
Regards
Lynn

To see then entry in parish records you would have to go to the Durham County Records office.

I've looked at the marriage index on Ancestry from 1908 until the end of 1923 and I can't find the entry. The only qtr. that is missing from ancestry is the June qtr, of 1912 so someone might be able to check that for you on findmypast website or familyrelatives site.

I don't think the marriage would be before 1908 as this looks like Maud's birth reference:-

Name: Maud Carney
Year of Registration: 1893
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
District: Sunderland
County: Durham, Tyne and Wear
Volume: 10a
Page: [56]93

You do not need a parish record for this. FreeBMD gives the marraige of James Richardson Moore as...

December Quarter-1907....and the GRO reference is given as Sunderland-10a-11_4

This one is a bit tricky because the underscore between 11 and 4 means that the person who transcribed this info could not make that digit out clearly enough. However I have looked on thegeanealogist site at the original and it looks like 1104 to me.
Because of the uncertianty of the reference number, no spouse name is given. The only option you have is to send for a marraige certificate using the above information.

Thank you John and Kath.
John that marriage is for James being married to someone else, I presume his first wife.
Thank you again for your help
