Surname Bowden - Barnstaple (Devon) Look Up Needed

Is anyone going to Barnstaple Records Office that could look up two births for me.

Florence Maud Bowden registered March Quarter 1878. I need to know names of her parents.

Charles Edwin Bowden registered December Quarter 1879. I need to know names of his parents.

Any help much appreciated

You can't look up birth certificates in Records Offices. You can look for baptisms but you would have to know which church it took place at and you wouldn't get the mothers maiden name.

Also, baptisms sometime took place years after the birth and sometimes people weren't baptised at all.

Can you find either of these people on the 1881 / 1871 census, they should be living with parents hopefully.

If you can't locate the marriages of the parents, you will only find out their full names by purchasing the two birth certs.

I presume you have looked for these children on the (FREE) 1881 census?

I know which family they belong too. I have them on census records but am not sure if these are the children I am looking for. They are not my direct family but are the children of my descendents sister. I didn't want to buy certificates without being too sure as i have a pile of wrong certificates for my very elusive families. I have found it useful to broaden out in the hope that the enlarged family may be able to help.
