Hi
I'm hoping this rings a bell with someone... I don't have a lot of info so really am struggling!!

My maternal Great Grandfather was John Anderson b 1883 his father was also JOHN - Year of Birth not known.

My Gr Grandfather was killed 1st Battle of the Somme 1916. We think he was in the Gordon Highlanders.

Some one traced a John Anderson Killed September 1916 to LERWICK Shetlands. I have found a family that lived in Lerwick in Market Street ( I think)

Both Johns were Stone Masons as far as I know in 1905 - my great grandfather was a stone mason on the Carnegie Library being built in Kendal Westmoreland England - which is how he met my great grandmother.

He was known as Jock.

He married Margaret Bainbridge Halliwell in Kendal parish Church 1905.

They had 2 children Lesley ( son ) I think he was baptised Thomas Lesley & Stella ( my grandmother).

Can any one help.

Please

Kath
