Hey Paul

The only births/christenings that show up are William's and Jeans.

General registration in Scotland didnt start till 1855 so if your looking for information before that, it simply might not be there.

Your best bet would be to try scotlandspeople.gov.uk as they have the completed registers. Sometimes some entries are missed out on the IGI or only the female/male ones have been transcribed.

I've had a little look on IGI and this is the nearest i can find for a birth of William

WILLIAM MITCHEL HOGAN
Christening: 23 JUL 1842 Nigg, Kincardine, Scotland

Parents:
Father: CHARLES HOGAN
Mother: ELIZABETH MITCHEL

And this is Elizabeth, and daughter Jean, in the 1841. No sign of Charles

Trying to find Charles Hoggins(Hoggin) born Scotland 1828. Died in Shropshire,England 1878. Married an Elizabeth.

1851 Census living Wallsend Northumberland (Ship Carpenter)
with Elizabeth, William(9) and George(7) all born Scotland.
