i don't think she was born before 1875 as hannahs nan was born in 1911, seems very odd that caroline would still be unwed at the age of 36???? (if she was born in 1875)

It doesn't necessarily have to be one of those listed. Birth registration wasn't compulsary until 1875 so there is a chance that Caroline wasn't registered. Also her birth could have been missed off the GRO index.

Both unlikely but possible nontheless.

I dont have any idea on a date because i dont know anything about her at all. I just would have guessed cheshire.
I wonder if she was sent to cheshire to have my grandmother because there was no father?

any idea when caroline was born?

Hannah

Hannah Report 21 Sep 2007 19:34

Hi Everyone,

My grandmother (Ida Bailey) was born in 1911 in cheshire and she married my grandfather Alexander Walton. On the marriage certificate Ida put under fathers name "Charles Bailey- deceased". After some searching and help from some kind people here on genes reunited, i came to the conclusion that Ida was infact illegitimate and lied about her father on the marriage certificate.

So i sent off for Ida's birth certificate which came today and it shows that Ida was born dec 1911 in sandbach, cheshire. Under fathers name and occupation there is nothing which would confirm what i thought.

Under mother's name it says Caroline Elizabeth Bailey and it was also her that registered the birth. The address is down as The commons, Sandbach.

Because the birth certificate gives me very little information i am stuck about where to go from here. I have no idea what Caroline's parents might be called and i have tried to look for her on the census in cheshire but with no luck.

Any ideas or help please anyone? Thank you!! x
