Back again....
I am reasonably sure that the marriage John Harris and Grace Mathews 9 151 is the right one. Was informed by family they were married 1.7.1841 at age 22 which would ty in with the Sept 1/4.

Found on IGI Christ. for Grace Mathews 12.Dec. 1819 Paul Cornwall Eng. Par...Thomas and Ann. so would think that is the right one?

The only Children I have found were on the 1851 Census and the 2 births on IGI (Elizabeth Ann and Frances Mary)

Frances Mary Harris (par. John and Grace) went on to marry a John Read, had a daughter Annie who married a Richard Burns who was my childrens paternalGGGrandf.

Couldn't find the Harris family after 1851and its presumed they came to South Australia where Frances married John Read.

Could possibly be Grace on 1841 Census as servant and birth could be wrong?

Thanks to you all for your generousity
Seems to me most things tie up.
Much appreciated
Colleen

Hi Colleen

The Grace Mathews ties most things up. I see that FamilySearch has Elizabeth Ann's christening, in the parish of Paul, to John and Grace Harris on 22 Oct 1848 (and perhaps Frances Mary to the same couple on 8 June 1851 in the same parish).

Have you any earlier births/baptisms to suggest that she married as early as 1841? There doesn't seem to be a John C birth registered in the Penzance district - but then Family Search doesn't supply a baptism either.

Have you found either Grace or her husband John on a later census return?

(am trying to be helpful, even if it doesn't come across properly, sorry)

Thanks to Portland Rose I have the HARRIS family on 1851 census...as follows
Grace Harris, wife ,aged 30 b.c1821 Newlyn, Paul
Parish of Paul, Newlyn St. Peter in Cornwall
Household members
Elizabeth A 2
Grace 30
John C 6

Was wondering if someone could find Grace on 1841 census.? Graces husband was John Harris.
She was married round 1841 so it could be possible that she may have been single at time of census and therefore may be under Grace Mathews possibly still in same Parish.
Thanks in anticipation
Colleen (Australia)
