Also of the census reports going back to 1871 at the age of 24 with his wife in Swindon. However that is where all leads end. I have seen the census 1861 where he is in a lodge at the age of 14, but hoped that this was not the one I need as it might have meant that he he had been abandoned or orphaned. I am hoping someone will be able to help me with the birth register and that it will give me some help to the names of his parents or at least the name of his mother. I live in Belgium and it is difficult to get to records. Kindest regards Diane
