Hi Lisa
My London is in England. Where do you live in California? Me and my husband have toured 36 of the United States of America (some twice) and really liked it there so it was nice to find an ancestrial connection. We have visited Ontario but only as far as Nigara Falls.
Thanks for all the hard work and your time, I just have to type it all up now.

Hi Pat: Is that London, Ontario? My cousin lived in London a few years ago.
Been having internet problems and lost my connection again when I was searching earlier today.
Don't see anything for John (immigration). Sorry.

A reply for both Debi and Lisa J
You beavers, unravelling so many questions I have been wanting to find the answers to for some time, yet didn't like asking for help.
My John Wisewould's occupation shown on Elizabeth and Fred's marriage cert is Painter!!! must be some connection Lisa. Now, was he an artist or a decorator, that is the question (joke).
Although I don't live there now, I was born and raised in S.E.London and am very familiar with the district and all the areas mentioned are in close proximity.
Thanks so much you peeps, you have helped me lots, hopefully I can help you sometime.
Best regards, Pat

You have to pay for records (which I've done before). Excellent site, though: http://www.ingeneas.com/ingeneas/index.html
Record # Surname Given Name Born Circa Year of Record Source 345785 WISEWOULD Eliz. J n/a 1871 Vital Statistic 893114 Wisewould Elizabeth 1856 1870 Passenger Record 893111 Wisewould John 1828 1870 Passenger Record 893112 Wisewould Mary 1828 1870 Passenger Record 893113 Wisewould Mary 1854 1870 Passenger Record
The 1871 date is her marriage.
"Elizabeth Wisewould Age: 14 Year: 1870 Price: $7.23US; $8.31Cdn. Description: LIST OF PASSENGERS: aboard vessels arriving at the port of Quebec City, Quebec and/or Montreal. Typical records in this document contain the following information: port and date of embarkation; ship's name; port and date of arrival; passenger's name, profession or occupation, marital status, age (or whether adult, child or infant or by age grouping); place at which passenger has contracted to land; and, sometimes, destination in North America. (Note: with each transcript a summary will be provided of the names and ages of other passengers travelling on the SAME ticket number, so there is usually no need to purchase transcripts for other family members.)"
Perhaps you can find the passenger list somewhere else (so you don't have to order it)?

Hi again Debi
Thanks for the death of possibly my Gt Gt Grandma, oh my goodness, why didn't we ask about our relatives when previous members were still alive?
It's given me lots to think about anyway and lots more work to do, thanks.
The takeaway has arrived a bit early so I will have to go.
Bye...............Pat

Unable to find any Wisewoulds in USA at present.....what was her fathers occupation on her marriage to Walker??
As she may well have married at the age of 17 in Canada I wonder if you should ask for a look up on the canadian 1871 census if anyone has access to this.......with luck you may find the family group on there... fingers crossed

Hi Lesley
Do you mean that I (me) have saved him to my shoebox? If that is the case, I can't think why I didn't print it off or make a note of it (I like hard copies of everything) but thanks for reminding me, you can tell I am quite new to this! Anyway, thanks for letting me know.
Incidently, how comes you could look in my shoebox, I don't mind, you have helped me but I am curious.

Hi Debi
Thanks very much, it certainly sounds like her. Do you think it is likely that she married at 17 and again at 21? But then, why not. Mind you, the marriage cert her condition says spinster and her name is Wisewould but it is such an unusual surname, there isn't many people with it and the date and place of birth fit so I think you must have cracked it. She probably lied! The plot thickens.
Once again, thanks very much.

Can anyone help me please. I canot find the birth of my Gt Grandma, however she states in the 1881 and 1891 census's that she was born in Philadelphia USA, none of the family appear to have been in the country in 1901.
ELIZABETH JANE WISEWOULD father JOHN WISEWOULD She married Frederick David Walker on August 2, 1876, in Lambeth. Her age is shown on the marriage cert as 21, which corresponds with census's as born 1856. Incidently, I cannot find anything on John Wisewould either.
Any help would be appreciated. Now I just have find out how to post this and hopefully, how to go back to it.
Thanks for your time, Pat
