-- Just to clarify: many, many Barnardo's Home children (and children in the care of other charities) were sent to Canada and Australia. It's estimated that 10% of the Canadian population descends from the "Home Children". The Cdn govt has a site for searching for them (although the database isn't complete).

Also, Barnardo's itself offers assistance in reuniting descendants, but it's a bit tricky and complex.

Do you have a surname, Dawn?

If any of the children migrated from the UK to Canada, I can help try to find them here. There are good search facilities on line.
