John & Mary Ann came to Australia from County Fermanagh Ireland in 1848. John found work as a Shepherd at Yanyangurt Station in the Barwon River area of Geelong Victoria.
He met Edward Thomas Bromley from Kent England there and a few years later he went into partnership with Edward in a carrier business. They delivered goods between Geelong and Colac.
It is thought that in 1853 John fell from the wagon died and was buried beside the road.
