Sue Thank you so much for the information you have provided.

I did wonder if Ellen was a shortend name.
On the 1891 Census I have the family with Ellen age 32 born Wrexham...........all very confusing and just a matter of finding the right person.

Thought I had looked at the 1901 census but obviously missed them.

Again thank you.

Ellen on 1901 census in Liverpool with Edward and other children and it says Edward born Wrexham but she is born Bristol. Found birth of Helena Rosina CARPENTER registered at Clifton in Sept quarter of 1860...the index says Helena Fosi* which presumably means transcriber couldn't decipher the name but I've looked at the original and it is Rosina so it fits.

1861 census has Georg and Margaret CARPENTER living in St Philips Bristol, registration district Clifton with children Thomas, Sarah, Esther, George Martin, Albert George and Helena Rosina 8 months.

I think this is the marriage you are looking for but not the expected year! Maybe they married earlier but in their own chapel/church without the registrar so not legal so decided to do it in the 'established' church in 1907, or, maybe Edward was still married to someone else until 1907. The certificate may give you a clue. This was found on www.lancashirebmd.org.uk

In the results below, the reference number will be a link to a printable application which can be used to order the certificate for the index entry. Full details of the charges and the Register Office address can be found on the form.

Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1907

Ellen Carpenter was b abt 1859 Wrexham.
She married Edward Evans, date of marriage unknown.
They had two sons George E born Liverpool abt 1883 and Albert Martin (my grandfather) b 1889 also in Liverpool.

I have not been able to find any information on Ellen Carpenter apart from the 1891 Census when she was married to Edward.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
