I had a look at the death indexes and this looks to be him as there is not one in 1998.

William Joseph Ashby..
July 1996..
Registered at Selby.
Age: 83..
D.O.B. 11 April 1913..

This is the only William J born in 1913..
William J Ashby..
June q 1913..
Registered at Warwick..
Volume: 6d..
Page: 1731..
Mothers maiden name: Horley..
This ties in with the death record..

This could be his parents marriage..
Joseph W Ashby..
Annie E Horley..
December q 1911..
Registered at Warwick..
Volume: 6d..
Page: 1333..

Looking to find relatives of my father William Joseph Ashby born early 1900's and according to my research passed away in 1998 in Selby
