Ive been told that my greatgrandfather Thos/Thomas Edwards born 1857 in staffordshire died in prison for murder.where would i look to find any info.
There was a rumour the man he murdered was called Fred/Frederick Perry.
The murder happened outside a pub in catleford
West yorksire roundabout 1900.

Have you tried the local papers?
My great uncle murdered his wife ( although this was much later in the 1940's) and I found the papers had loads of info on it

Hi Alexandra, I am new to this myself, but when I wanted to look up stuff in old newspapers, I went to the local library , they had tons of stuff on microfisch that I could trawl through.

It could have made the Times Newspaper they are online by joining online free to Bedfordshire Library. Irene
