Member Since: February 2003 Posts: 14 Send Message	My great-grandfather's name was George Green, according to my grandparents' marriage certificate. His daughter, my grandmother' was Alice Charlotte Green. My grandparents married in 1897 in Hertford, & were listed as living in Oak Street, Hertford on the marriage certificate - Alice married Joseph Burgess, who later became a policeman in Hemel Hempstead. My great-grandfather's occupation is listed as 'Soldier', but I have no idea whether he was still active [as it were!] or retired. I presume that the family lived in Hertford & guess his birth year anywhere between 1830 - 1850. I wonder whether anyone has further details, or has these people in their family tree?

	Hi Lynda. How are you ??? I had a look at the 1901 census and i found what seems to be Alice with husband Joseph living at Cupid Green, Hemel Hempstead. I cannot place her with a father George before this. I have tried censuses 1881 and 1891. Alyson
