hi there
my nan,s mother was mary ann kirby born 1877 died 1932 she married a james shortland born 1866 on her marriage certifacate it says she was married in 1916 brentford middlesex and she was a widow age 39 and james shortland was 50,
her father was james mortimer he was a road labourer born abt 1852 i belive she was a bigamist can any one out there help me sort this lady out and her father i cant seem to get started on this family were did they come from did mary have any brother,s or sister,s what was her mother,s name i would appreciate any help please

was Kirby her maiden name



or was Mortimer her maiden name, and she married a Kirby, then she married James Shortland?

1916 is during WW1, so Richard could have been killed.


You maybe should look on the Coomonweatlh Graves site to see if you can find a Richard Kirby with wife Mary or Mary Ann
