Hi can anyone help.. i have been helping a friend and we have found an ancestor named William Price b New York c1826..
He became a professional Singer with the Sable Harmonists.. a sort of black N white minstrel.. his stage name was William Ceda...
He came to England met and married a Mary Ann Wood who was also a professional singer..its his earlier life we know nothing about.
I cannot track him in 1851 in the UK its been hard enough finding him on one census the 1871 in Liverpool.. his children are always left with relatives etc...

Hope someone can help..

Only the head of the family is listed in the 1840 census so he won't be on there.

Do you have this?
CEDA, WILLIAM: real name William Price, one of the Sable Harmonists, died in Liverpool, England, March 9, 1873. His remains were interred in Hofield Cemetery

You might be interested in this website. It's historical newspapers of New York State and if you type in "sable harmonists" quite a few articles appear.

Hi Rose i think i have found the marriage in Lambeth 1852 Will Price -Mary Ann Wood.. seen as though there two first children Will and Henry were born in Middlesex its a good bet..
