Find Ancestors

i am trying to find more info on by father
his name was Frederick Charles Porter. born July 1921 in Brougnton in Furness. his father was also Frederick Charles ,his mother name ? Thomas. poss a sister. only know that my grandfather was deceased why my parent married in July 1949. where do i start??

on my mother side i have found lots, it just my father side i have a problem

you need to buy your dads birth cert which will give fathers name and mothers maiden name

You can start by buying your father's birth cert.......it will tell you the full names of both of his parents.

Or take chance and look for the marriage of his parents based only on the GRO index info about his birth...........

The marriage cert will include the names of their fathers.....and the declared ages of the couple, to help you with locating the families on 1901 census

are you sure of yr? only two in july 1/4 1921 one born salford and one paddington, and a frederick w in romford in last 1/4

Salford cover Broughton

Broughton in Furness is in north Lancs........near Barrow in Furness (now Cumbria)

However, BROUGHTON is in Salford reg'n district........a different kettle of fish!

I suspect that Iris has been misinformed and that her father was actually born in Broughton..........which would fit with the Salford entry..........

his birth cert states Broughton in Furness but the census entry states Salford. i need to buy his birth cert, thanks for you help everybody.
