Hello,

I've come across your thread, and although you may be sorted now, I had a look for Stephen's birth in the parish registers for you. Is this him, as it's the only Stephen I can find.

Baptism 22nd Jan 1792. St Michaels, Flixton. Son of Henry and Margaret Royle, Urmston.

I have hard copies of the registers from 1570-1812, (Flixton) which are fully and accurately transcribed, giving all births, deaths and marriages for this period.

Let me know if you want me to look anything up for you.

Regards

Jacqueline

Would anyone be so kind then to trace this Samuel Edward Royle b 1841 Heaton Norris through the different censi. Perhaps if we go backwards it would lead me to his father.... As for Stephen b 1787 it seems strange to me that his status is married yet living with brother in 1851 and living as a boarder in 1861... where's the wife?!!!!!!

Thanks Ladies,
Think Samuel possibly a grandson. Where's Heaton Norris?

Just in case Sheila doesn't come back, Carol.
His status is married, he's a retired soldier. Head of the household is George Bennett, a provision dealer employing 2 young men. One of these seems to be Sam'l Edward Royle, 20. A son or grandson of Stephen?

Thanks Sheila
How much trouble to discover whether he was married/widowed and or his ocupation. I am trying to connect this Stephen with one I have in the unfilmed 1851 census of Chorlton on Medlock. His marital status was married then but he was living with his brother's family.
