Hi. I am trying to find out more about my Grandfather William Walker. He married my Grandmother Laura Larner (nee Proctor) in 1917 at Worcester Registery Office although they then lived in Portsmouth.
At the time of the wedding William is shown as being in Royal Engineers and on my fathers birth certificate in 1920 William is shown as a radio engineer.
William and Laura had Michael Thomas Richard Walker in 1920 and Kathleen Walker in 1918. The story is that Laura went on holiday and came back pregnant so had a quick divorce from William.
William's father is named as James on his marriage certificate. I am guessing that William would have been born about 1890 or so and therefore his father about 1865 or so. I have no idea where he was born or what became of him. Any info on my Walker family gratefully received.
Regards Stella Timewell (nee Walker)
