In 1943 my mother, Evelyn Marjorie ASHWELL married a Sidney WALTON and from that I was born in 1944 - Michael John Walton. Our family home was in Osterley, West London and my grandparents on my mothers side were Annette (nee Drowley) and Bill (William Edwin) Ashwell. My mother and Sidney divorced when I was very young, about 2yrs, and although I met him once some years later there has never been any further contact. My mother died 3 years ago and gave no information to me on my father -divorce was frowned upon in those days. I believe Sidney might have been in the RAF in the war. My mother remarried in 1953 and I adopted my stepfathers name of Latham. Mother had two brothers, Bill and Jack Ashwell, both now dead. Bill had married Jessie (Brodie) and had a daughter Wendy. If anyone in the Walton clan can amplify on what happened to Sidney it will close a chapter in my life. |
