Irish Roots

Could anyone please point me in the right direction of how to trace Irish Roots?
I have the copy of my great grandmothers birth certificate that states her father was John Wier and her mother Mary, formerly Costolow.
I have managed to trace the family on 1841 census but the name is transcribed as "Ward", but it did state that both John and Mary were born Ireland, to add further difficulty, the marriage certificate for my gr.gran gave her name as Wire.
I would like to find the marriage entry for John and Mary and hopefully go on to find the birth's. Any assistance would be marvellous.
Thanks,
Allison.
