I am trying to find details of my family tree. My grandad was James (known as Jim) Wilkes, he married Gwen. They had two sons Kenneth John Wilkes and James (jimmy) Wilkes. My great grandad was George Wilkes who was born possibly in Bedworth approx 1880. He married Gertrude Farrell (or Nolan) they had six children. James, Fred, George (died at 15), violet, Liz and Emma (known as Cissy). They lived on Stratford st North. George Wilkes was a scaffolder in Birmingham markets, drove trams and could often be found standing by Nelsosn's statue ! Gertrude died of TB. George was possibly a boy soldier in the Boar war. He died approx 1959/60. He may have had 5 brothers. The information i have is limited but any help or clues would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance !

Don't know whether this information is of any use. My grandfather was William Wilkes born I think in Bradley, Staffordshire in about 1868 to 1874. He married Selina Preece in 1893 and they lived in Broseley, Shropshire. William Wilkes died in 1926 in Hyde, Cheshire. The reason for this information is that I recall a George Wilkes living with my grandmother In Hyde, Cheshire. Any help or not? Regards, Katheen.
