Jane, it’s good to see you popping in and I echo all that AnninGlos has said <3 <3 <3

Jane, lovely to see you popping in, we all miss your posts but we do understand why you find it difficult. I hope that Oncology call you in soon as it is I believe, the waiting for information that is hard. Once you have the whole picture you will be able to know what is what. Tears are good, tears will help, and these days even tears in public seem to be acceptable.

I am sure Janice will be pleased to see you and you her, have a good cuddle and cry.

Good that Hannah is able to take time off to be with you and so good that your family are so supportive. Why wouldn't they be you have supported them in recent years.

I am pleased that you read but also do feel free to come on here and shout (or PM if it is easier) sometimes it is easier to shout at people who are not close family members because you are aware that they are suffering for you and will not want to upset them.

Look after yourself and stay strong and know we love you and feel for you xx <3 <3

Morning Everyone
Just popping in to say hello and to thank you all for all your love/hugs /cards and thoughts <3.
I am ok .I have a good day and then a weepy one.Sometimes the tears come at really inappropriate time (like in the supermarket) I know it will happen again this mornng as I have a dental appontment .Hannah has already spoken to the dentist and explained things so I dont have to go over it again. My family are just flipping amazing and I am so lucky. Hannah was here all last week ,Gareth for the weekend.hannah is coming back again tomorrow.

I am waiting for an appontment still with Oncology .Probably another week . I dont like this waiting.I just want to know if I am able to have any treatment or not.

It is a beautiful morning .The sun is shining and the leaves are tumbling off the big tree inthe front garden. Our drive is a carpet of leaves.

Tomorrow Chris and I are going to see Janice and Larry. I will make sure to take plenty of tissues as I reckon it is going to be pretty emotional when we arrive

Frank, I hope you manage to get your appointment this week regarding your slow pulse. That will definitely be makoing you feel tired and lethargic .It could also be something to do with all these falls you have had. Good luck.

I will probably still not post much but will read the posts.

Give Dobbies a month Vera besides the one we now have which took over Wyevale we have been to one in Milton Keynes and one in Cirencester and they are very good. Ours took a month before it eliminated all the Wyevale stuff and train the staff in Dobbie’s ways. They will be fine.

I wondered where you were as you had not been on here. We miss your long posts.

SuffolkVera Report 11 Nov 2019 21:45

Hallo everyone

I don't know where the last two or three days have gone. There are too many posts for me to respond to, but I have managed to read them all.

Sunday was a bit cold but a lovely bright sunny day here. I should have done some gardening but I kept finding other things to do. Then it rained overnight and most of this morning again. It brightened up this afternoon but there was a very chilly wind and the ground was too soggy to do anything much. I just tidied up a few pots.

On Saturday we went to the old Wyevale Garden Centre at Bury St. Edmunds, which is now a Dobbies. At the moment I'm not very impressed but I think they are in a state of flux between the two companies and it was all a bit chaotic. We ordered a sandwich in the restaurant and waited so long that OH went to the counter to ask where it was and was rather rudely told they were very busy. Actually the restaurant was half empty and the people who had ordered immediately before us had been served, eaten their food and left. The sandwich appeared within a minute of OH complaining and it was very good but we thought the staff could do with a lesson in customer service. We will go back in a few weeks as it may just be things are a bit awry during the changeover period.

My chilean guava jelly wasn't very successful. Mel, I did add a little lemon juice although I had found two recipes from New Zealand, one without any lemon and one with the juice of half a lemon in about 3 times the amount of fruit I had. The guavas are supposed to be full of pectin but the mixture never really reached setting point. I boiled half of it away and it was still very liquid and quite sweet. In the end I poured about two thirds of it into my ice cream maker with a mixture of milk and double cream and turned it into ice cream.

I hope you cough less tonight AnninG. Frank, it's good that the doctor is going to check on your pulse rate etc.

Going to say goodnight now as I have a few emails to do tonight and I am beginning to get a bit tired.

Annx my OH was happy for some stuff to go but did say a couple of times that oh that will be ok it is sealed in the tin. I made sure it all went a cough is enough for me to put up with let alone tummy problems. Cupboards look empty now.

Sounds like you got plenty at the craft shop. You will be busy now.

Annx

Annx Report 11 Nov 2019 18:53

Evening All,

Where did today go! :-0 A bit brighter here but still chilly. I popped to the craft shop this morning as I never went in the end on Saturday. The lady was busy dismantling a small ring with an Easter theme. There were pompoms in different greens at the base with moulded bunnies hopping. A little arch with bunting across and sprigs of flowers. She is doing straw coloured pompoms at the bottom this time, painting the arch brown like a stable and putting a Nativity Scene in it with a gold star in place of the bunting. I shall be looking out for it next time I go. I got some felt in different colours, snowflake buttons and found a ball of green wool I wanted in the 'reduced' box. That should keep me busy for a while! :-D

Frank I hope the Nurse was gentle with the needle this morning! It's good they have picked up your low heartbeat. I expect the Doctor will have some ideas as to the cause. I know some of my medication can affect heart rate.

I've never done it as I don't have the internet on my phone, but if Ros opens the email with the video on her mobile, there should be a bit near the top of the screen that says 'FORWARD' (It will be near the 'REPLY' box she presses to answer emails) and she should press on that and there will then be a space to type your email address. When she's done that , she should press 'SEND' and it should go to your email inbox then.

Yes, I have wondered about getting an air fryer before so will be interested in whether you like it.

Glad you seem a bit better today AnnG, despite a disturbed night. It was dry coughs that I always got and they tickle the most I think. Hopefully you will sleep better tonight as you will be tired after last night. Going through the kitchen cupboards is overdue here too and I'm sure I will be finding some old stuff. I like to do it while OH is out or some will find it's way back! :-0 ;-)

I can just imagine Sandra giving your OH a shove towards the door Gill. She was really ready for her hot chocolate wasn't she? lol :-) I used to like the band as well. It's lovely she is so appreciative of her new garden and lights, but it's a pity you can't send us a pic. If you told us what kind of camera and model you have we might be able to help with downloading your photos? Just an idea. You are forging ahead with your OH's tree and I hope you find the missing children today. I can't believe we are so close to Christmas!! I must get a move on and ask OH what he would like.

I look forward to your comments on the air frier Frank. I have heard good reports from people using them.

A RAIL and hail shower Mel, hope it was rain and not railways!! rained a bit here and getting dark quickly and very cold.

Gill I think the trees grow in the Phillippines and won't grwo in this country.

We have just had a huge rail and hail shower. the hailstones have melted now.

Frank can Ros not forward the video to one of us from her phone and we could forward it to the others?

Its good your seeing the doc about this low pulse thing. Good luck with the fryer we will want to know if its good or not.

Afternoon all,

Sorry I was a no show yesterday, but after watching the Rememberence Service, and preparing dinner. I just sat and read the paper at bits I could see without hurting my eyes. and completely forgot to go on line.

Been to the Nurse this morning for my injection, she told me I need to speak to a Doctor regarding my ECG. I appears my pulse is very low, and they are concerned it might have some effect on my HEART. So I will make a Telephone Surgery Appointment for this week. The nurse thinks this might have something to do with me feeling so out of salts, and being tired all the time. Mind you, being awake at 5.00 am. can't be that good for me either.

Nice bright sunny day here, but windy and very cold. So we have no plans to do anything today.

I will have to ask Conrad to send me the Video of LOLA, as it was sent to Ros's phone, and we don't know how to send it to my computer. I am not into all this HIGH TECH. lol lol

I have treated us to a new 1 1/2 Litre Air Fryer. You only need a spoonful of oil to cook chips, chicken and almost anything. I will try it tonight. I have some cold pork over, I will cook chips and Corn on the cob to go with it.

As I don't get out much with Ros, I have bought her Christmas Card on line. I used the same company for our wedding anniversary card and her Birthday card. They are excellent quality with EIGHT pages of verse. The other great thing is they are better than half price, that I would pay in Tesco. It turned up this morning.

I do hope you can find somewhere to take Sandra for a Carol service. As mentioned there are bound to be a lot around different venues coming up to Christmas.

I had another Phone call this morning about "PROBLEMS WITH MY COMPUTER" The second word I used was "OFF" and rang 1572 and added the number to my BLACK LIST. It's a great service from BT.

Having no breakfast this morning AGAIN. I am going to get myself some soup and a sarnie. Hope to get back later. HUGS to JANE. xxx

AnninGlos Report 11 Nov 2019 12:38

Good afternoon. Well done gill for getting on with the tree. You will have to give yourself a deadline as to when you stop to start on Christmas.
Although I have not coughed much at all since I got up I didn't have a great night, woke up coughing almost every hour, not chesty, just annoying and tryin to sleep almost sitting up gave me neck and back ache. Never mind it is ok today and will soon go I hope.

Mel yes it might be a good idea to find out the date or you will miss it.

We have had sun all morning but chilly and It looks like rain this afternoon.

We have been busy in the kitchen we have been sorting out food cupboards. It takes two of us as I can't reach safely and OH can. Ashamed to say several packets and tins dated back to 2013, not stuff I would use out of date either. We binned a lot of stuff and I don't know whether to feel proud of the tidy cupboard or guilty at the food waste. Start again now and hope to be more careful at using things.

Gillx Report 11 Nov 2019 12:31

It sounds like you have the same weather as us Mel.

Wow, what beautiful trees Mel, OH and Sandra want some now ;-) ;-) ;-) I'll have to see where we can buy them from, although I should imagine the colours would be on mature trees, but what a lovely colourful tree. I think every garden should have one :-D I hope you manage to book a table for the Christmas fair after all your hard work. I see you're making your lovely wreaths again, you are very clever with all the things you make. <3

I've just said to Sandra I'll make her a hot chocolate once her dad has been to the shop to buy some milk. OH sat on the sofa so Sandra said "Come on mum said I could have a hot chocolate" and practically pushed OH through the door. She's so funny sometimes.

It's very cold wet and windy here today, so definitely a hot chocolate day and I don't mean the 80's band lol :-D :-D :-D

I'm doing really well on OH's tree so should have the bit I'm on finished soon, then I can check the tree I'm copying for anymore people. I think there is one more section to do then it'll all be copied over. I've found another mistake on that tree though, so it's a good job I'm checking each person before putting them on OH's tree.

It sounds like my washing machine is about to finish so I'd better go and sort it out. Keep warm everyone, it's not a nice weather day today by the sounds of it.

Morning Gill and all,

We have sunshine and showers this morning its sunny out the back and very grey out the front and its raining at the mo and there is a stiff breezey wind.

I really must find out when the craft fair is up the village if I am going to have a table there this year. I now have quite a few new bits to put on the table and some stuff to take to Torrington and then I must start on my wreaths. the weeks seem to be going so quickly this all or is it just that I am getting older?

Gillx Report 11 Nov 2019 08:34

Morning al

Wet and windy here today, the leaves are really starting to blow off the neighbour's tree now, so it looks like we'll be raking them up again very soon. At the moment they're at the bottom of the garden so I'll just keep an eye on them and rake them up if they start blowing nearer the bungalow, we don't want them blowing down the grids.

Well after taking a look at the 1911 census last night I noticed one of OH's rellies had 8 children, with only 4 living, so I think I've found all 8 of them, 3 weren't even named, but thankfully the mother's maiden name was on their records so they're now on OH's tree, I'll pop the last 5 on today. I've worked really hard on his tree since April and can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel now. Hopefully the tree match I have will be completely copied over soon. He has a lot of mistakes though so I'm having to check every person before entering them onto OH's tree. It's taking an age to do so I'll be glad when it's finished, then I can finishing sorting out Christmas before I run out of time.

I'm hoping the weather is going to improve soon, I just need a couple of days to go Christmas shopping and buy some of the Christmas goodies to eat, so if the wind and rain give us a break I should be able to get out and about.

How are you all getting on with your Christmas preparations, it's six weeks tomorrow to the big day?

Right cuppa time then back to OH's tree, with a bit of luck it'll all be finished this week.

I hope everyone with coughs and colds had a good nights sleep and are feeling a little better today.

Gillx

Gillx Report 10 Nov 2019 21:29

Good idea to cover the berries Mel, that'll keep the birds off them until you're ready to use them yourself.

I hope all the coughs and colds clear up soon for you all, it must be awful if it stops you sleeping. Have you tried putting Vic on the soles of your feet, it really works and helps you breath easier. OH and I do that when we can't breath properly or have bad coughs that keep us awake. OH thought I was silly when I mentioned it to him, but gave it a try anyway and was really surprised how well it worked. It might be worth a try.....just a thought.

OH and I have just been looking outside at Sandra's lights, I can't get over how good they look and the plants we have in the planter look really good to. I never thought it would turn out as good as it has when I first thought of the idea and to think it would never of happened if next door hadn't put up a new fence so we had to take ours down, we used that fence to build the planter and everything evolved from there.

Sandra loves it and looks at it every night. I'm pleased to see the extension lead we used worked, I wasn't sure if it would with all the rain we've had, but it's holding it's own and is working perfectly. We shall use that idea again rather than paying a small fortune for the electrical cable. So long as it's waterproof where the connection is it works. So we're all very pleased with it.

I've been very busy on OH's tree today, it took me most of the day to find a marriage, it didn't help when their children had different spellings for their mother's maiden name on their birth records. I found the marriage eventually and then added the two children I found for them. The only problem I've got now is there's a 13 year gap from when they married to the first child I found for them being born and I just can't seem to find anymore children for them.

At the moment I'm sorting out the family of their son and also noticed he was only 16 when he married and his wife was 15 years old. According to the 1911 census they had 8 children 4 of which had passed away by 1911, I only have 3 children so need to try and find the other 5 now.

I'm so close to finishing OH's tree so hope I can find the rest of the people fairly quickly as I haven't done much for Christmas yet and need to get organised before the big day is here. I'd really like to finish his tree before I finish things for Christmas, but at this rate I don't think that is going to happen.

I've also got lots of sorting to do, I seem to have accumulated lots of stuff I don't really need, so desperately need to sort it all out, then I will be able to claim some of the rooms back. Good luck to everyone else with their sorting.

That's a good idea to wear gloves AnnG. I even use my little finger on lift buttons as I know I don't touch my mouth with that one and use elbows to push open doors! I had pneumonia twice as a child and that nasty Asian flu as a teenager but haven't had flu a lot otherwise. I remember dad having that Mao flu. He was so ill he couldn't feed himself and went from smoking 20-30 a day to never, ever smoking again!

Mel you did make me laugh picturing your antics with the peg Santas! Sometimes things just happen to drive us mad don't they. :-D I hope the Snowmen are kinder to you. I daren't touch OH's stuff either, but he's very tidy anyway and even newspapers he reads are neatly stacked at the side of him. He's already gone to bed looking a bit worse for wear, so I'm going now. I want to be up early if I can and get some bits for the craft class before others take the 2 parking spaces they have.

Night night x

AnninGlos Report 10 Nov 2019 20:52

Mel I guess you won’t be making too many more Santa pegs then.

Annx I am sure we don’t get as many colds since having the flu jab strangely We never had it at first, neither of us had ever in our lives had flu at all and very few colds. Even while working. I only ever in all my working life had five days off sick. I put our colds these days down to not mixing with people as much and travelling on buses. We do try and minimalise the risk by wearing gloves on the bus so touching handles, rails etc that mucky kids on the way to school have touched is not so much of a risk.

I do filing sometimes I open the desk top and chuck it in. No I do file the important things but oh never does just leaves piles of letters and bills on the second desk in his study. I don't do his study as I get blamed if things are lost. The only thing I take out of there is empty biscuit packets and dirty coffee mugs. He has the habit of getting another out of the cupboard if he has'nt brought the other one out. I dread to think what the place would look like if I was'nt here.

I managed to finish four santa pegs today. I had to taek one apart a bit and then another one would'nt open once I had his hat on so I had to change the back of that peg. Then the beads fell off the holly leaf on his hat and I knocked an eye off one and could'nt find it on the carpet. I was going to put them up for £1.50 but I think they will be £2 now. Hav'nt started the snowmen yet.
