Mel, make a note of where you put anything that you are likely to need.

Frank I think if I ate sprouts and cabbage in the same meal my tum would be a bit off the next day too. did you put anything unusual in the gravy? I thought I might have had a problem today as I did lamb steaks in the slow cooker with quite a lot of garlic, chestnut mushrooms, tinned tomatoes, butterbeans and a red wine gravy with crushed new potatoes, skin on. But I have had no problem at all (other than the cold!)

Gill how disappointing, is it an independent garden centre or a chain? Wonder if it is under new management and cost saving. You will have to find somewhere else to take Sandra now as a consolation.

Annx Our dentist's surgery is on the ground floor there are two downstairs and two up. they say if you can't manage the stairs they will treat you downstairs. I did have to go up once many years ago when they had a hygenist (they don't any more) and the stairs are really steep,

Morning all

Bright and sunny here, I can't believe I've only just woken up, I must of needed the sleep as it's very unusual for me to sleep in this long.

Well last night was a bit of a disappointment, there was hardly anything there and what was there they had last year. The people they had in to sing weren't up to much and sang lots of old songs which OH and I liked but poor Sandra didn't know the songs. She was hoping they would of sang some Christmas Carols with it being a Christmas event but they didn't and they only sang for about half an hour, so once we'd seen everything we came home earlier than we normally do. The weather was awful and rained not stop, you could hear it on the roof inside the garden centre. Sandra managed to take a few pictures on her camera but there wasn't much she hadn't seen before, so she didn't take many. We were home in time for her to watch a few of her programmes and only needed to watch Emmerdale of the planner that had been recorded.

I managed to do some more of OH's tree which was good as Ancestry had their records open for free. They said it was only the war records but for a while they had them all open, I think it was a mistake on their part as they stopped showing them after a few hours. Luckily I managed to do quite a bit of OH's tree while they had them all open so that was good, the only one I couldn't get before they shut them happened to be on the tree I've got access to, so all in all I got everything I needed in the end.

Good luck sorting out your craft stuff Mel, I hope you don't lose anything though.

So Biggles is in your bad books Frank, good job you spotted it straight away and managed to clean it up. I'm sure he didn't mean any harm, at least he has a clean bum now lol :-D Good news on the eye front, but I'd still go to your appointment on Wednesday.

OH dear Ann, it sounds like you had quite a struggle getting up the stairs at the dentist, you'd think they'd have a lift put in wouldn't you? How are you feeling today?

Sorry to hear you're not well AnnG, wrap up warm and drink plenty. The Sudafed seems to be working, good idea to keep taking them. I think it's that time of year where there's lots of coughs and colds around. Ann has the right idea trying to keep away from anyone who's ill, but it doesn't always work. I hope you feel better soon, sending you a gentle hug <3

Thinking of our Jane, sending a gentle hug to you to <3 <3 <3

Frank Report 8 Nov 2019 10:59

Good morning Mel and AnninG and to all the others of course.

We both have "DICKY TUMMIES" this morning. We had lamb steaks, with peas carrots, brussels and cabbage, with roasties last night. So it must have been something in that. :-( :-( :-( :-(

Biggles has blotted his copy book. He has rubbed his bum along the carpet and left a "SKID MARK" I have scrubbed the area and used the carpet cleaner. All looking good now. I have given his bum a good wash as well. ;-) ;-) ;-)

How's our Jane this morning, ?? I hope she had a reasonable nights sleep. Our thoughts are will you, xxx

I have no Idea when Biggles will go home, we haven't heard from them, so I expect they will just turn up. As we haven't been out to eat this week. When Alan and Ann collect Biggles, we will pop out for a bite to eat, so no cooking for me tonight.

Eye seems a little better this morning, even though it's still a bit blurred. So I am wondering if it will clear itself.

Damp, mizzerly morning here, I hope it's better where you all are. See you later. xxx

Good morning. I slept well but the cold is still with me, sneezing for England eyes watering, tickly cough. Another day indoors I think. Have put a load of washing in and tidied round a bit but not feeling like doing much else. Before bed I took just one Sudafed tablet I think that helped me sleep. I shall take another one later on and another tonight.

Morning all,

How is everyone this morning? Did you all sleep ok?

Its dry here at the moment but there are clouds in the sky and bright spells now and again but mostly dull.

Gill you should have seen me negotiating the stairs at the dentist this morning. I must have looked about 100 hanging onto a handrail each side to haul me up! I hope you all enjoy your evening. :-D

Good to hear from you Frank.......not long till next Wednesday now.

AnnG, as I said, it was only a temporary filling this morning and that he has another appointment to get it filled properly. I have had temporary fillings before when I've broken pieces off a tooth and have never had an injection for those. They seem to just cover the broken off bit with a white substance so it isn't sensitive to hot or cold. The injections and drilling will come with his next appointment to fill it properly. He was fitted in as an emergency today so no time to do it properly.

I went to the doctor a couple of years ago after a month and then 6 weeks after having a sore throat and no voice and feeling quite ill with it. They then wanted to send me to ear, nose and throat at the hospital, even though I'd explained I get bacterial infections on top of a virus infection and that a previous partner in the practice had told me to come and get antibiotics as soon as I knew it was not going to clear up. It was only when I said was there really no alternative than hospital that she reluctantly said I could try antibiotics. Of course after 2 days antibiotics my voice was coming back and I felt 100% better! Now it worries me to death if I get a sore throat as I know sometimes I will be ill for weeks and know I will have a battle with the doctor. It means I avoid anyone with a cold or cough. In restaurants if someone comes and sits at a table near us with a cold or cough, I get up and move to sit somewhere else. If I'm in a queue at a checkout and I notice the person on the till sniffling, or someone with a cold joins the queue behind me, I will leave the queue to go to another till to queue even if it's a much longer queue.

Mel I think snowmen would be quicker to make and less fiddly as you say. A friend is doing a stall at a garden centre fair soon and has been making snowmen too.

Well I didn't get all the wool I wanted and it seems dark green isn't popular or is popular and has sold out! There's no rush and I know another local shop I can try. Beading again tomorrow so I shall see whether I carry on with the lariat. Whoever said that they get bored in retirement........it's all go isn't it!!

Thanks AnnG, we'll be leaving soon, I've charged Sandra's batteries for her camera so she's all ready for the off.

It's absolutely pouring down with rain here, so we're going a bit earlier than usual in the hope we can park nearer the door, that way we shouldn't get to wet walking from the car.

Sorry to hear your knee is still playing you up, I only have one step down to the kitchen and that was bad enough when I couldn't bend my knee properly, so I know how awkward it would be for you. I hope it eases soon and also your cold, hopefully the cough will stay away.

Right I'd better go and get ready, see you all tomorrow.

Have just noticed everyone saying how sorry you are about JANE. I haven't gone back on the posts, but assume it's the news that NOBODY WANTS TO HEAR. Love and thoughts with Jane and Family.

No improvement this end.

See you tomorrow.

AnninGlos Report 7 Nov 2019 15:20

Annx glasd all was well at the dentist. You are lucky you don't have my problem and have to have the teeth deep cleaned. I hate it and we have to go every 6 months as well. didn't your OH have an injection for his filling. My OH did last week when he has an unexpected filling and it was quite a while before he could eat.

Yes, none of us know how we would cope with Jane's news, or as one of the family. I have had it twice in the last 8 years, first when daughter had breast cancer and luckily only needed a lumpectomy. And secondly my sister 2-3 years ago when she was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in her lungs. However, she has medication which is working ok for her at the moment. With daughter we live with the knowledge that it could return any time like my sisters did. Horrid, horrid disease.

Mel yes I think it is the garden centre this evening for Gill and Sandra and OH of course.
I don't remember the last time I had antibiotics either. I think mine was for a tooth abscess.

Jane <3 <3 <3 <3 ((((hugs))))

I hope the cold clears up soon AnnG and dos'nt develope into a cough as thats what I have at the mo. It does seem a bit better this week though so thats good. I can't remember the last time I had an antibiotics, I think it may have been an injection when I had a tooth out but that would only have been a very small amount.

Hav'nt done the bathroom as I got sidetracked again instead I made a Santa peg but it took me all morning so I shan't be doing many more. I may have a go at snowmen instead. Not such a fiddley hat or beard.

Is the event at the garden center for Sandra tonight??????

Annx Report 7 Nov 2019 14:40

Afternoon All,

Very cold here this morning. We got to the dentist's early and my checkup was first. Everything was fine and the dentist said my teeth were very good for 70 years old. 'Even better for 72 then' I said and said ' so it's just everything else that's falling apart." :-D It made him and his assistant have a little chuckle which is always badly needed at the dentist. lol I don't have to go back for 10 months now. :-D OH's appointment was early too and he has had a temporary filling and another appointment to have a proper filling. We had a jacket pot at a garden centre after half an hour he had to wait for the filling to set properly. He's now printing reams of stuff for his meeting later.

I need to pop out next to buy some wool I want and some felt for next week's craft class.

AnnG I know what you mean about coughs lasting ages as I'm the same. As soon as I get a sore throat I worry it will be one that lasts for weeks, sometimes with a cough. Only antibiotics will clear mine, as it is always a bacterial infection that sets in after a virus, and we all know how hard it is to get antibiotics these days. :-( I hope yours is just a cold that will clear up quickly and staying in today will probably help, also the rest might help your knee stop twingeing too. People sneezing and coughing without covering their mouths and using the toilet without washing their hands are two things that really annoy me. They just couldn't care less about anyone else.

I'm glad your knee is better Gill so you can go with Sandra to the event. Have you charged her camera up yet? I bet she will love seeing the displays.

I lay awake for ages thinking about Jane and her bad news too and wondered how I would cope with it. The truth is none of us know unless we are in that position. Lots of love Jane xxxx <3

Keep the hailstones down there Mel please. Sunny here at the moment, we should be shopping but being the first to complain when people go into shops coughing and sneezing I decided we should stay home. Didn't get much sleep last night as I couldn't breath with the cold so spent a lot of time thinking of jane and wishing for her that she had had a better outcome.

Gill, knee still tweeks a bit but only when going up or down stairs/steps. Just feel rough now because of the cold, hopefully it won't linger. I dread it turning into a cough because they seem to last ages with me.
So tonight is Sandra's favourite night out. I hope you all have a lovely evening.

Missed your post there Gill. The suns out now here and you can feel the warmth when you stand in it.

I must clean the big bathroom today as I did the little loo from top to bottom yesterday. I had a bit of black mould on the top of the window frame and used the clit bang mould remover on it. Its great and does a good job in no time. I had to stand on the loo seat to reach it as there not enough room to get the step up to the window and had to get my foot just right on the seat to balance as its a bit wobbley.

Morning all

I'm so sorry to hear your news Jane, take as much time as you need, but remember we are all here. Love and hugs to all of you. <3 <3 <3

Very wet here today, the rain is going to be with us none stop until tomorrow.

I thought I had posted yesterday, but realised today I hadn't. Happy belated birthday to Mel's OH and Mandy's son, hope they both had a lovely day.

I hope your OH managed to have his tooth fixed Ann. It sounds like he's getting a lot of things off the brother of his friend, nice to know some of it is going to a museum, what a lovely thoughtful thing to do.

Oh dear AnnG, now you've got a cold, wrap up warm and drink plenty. Pleased to hear your knee is better now. Mine is also better so going to the Christmas event is back on for me. Sandra's pleased as when I said she'd have to go on her own with her dad she didn't seem keen saying it wasn't fair on me, but I managed to persuade her that it wasn't her fault my knee hurt so she shouldn't miss out. She's chuffed we can all go together now. She's still looking at her pink lights every night, so I'm pleased we managed to do it for her in the end after having problems trying to find the right ones and connecting them for her. OH has ordered two more lights as spares incase anything happens to the ones she's got.

Sorry to hear your eye is still blurry Frank, not long now before it can be sorted. Keep your chin up, the time will soon pass then you we be able to see properly again and get back to your books. Having Biggles around will keep you occupied, I know how much you love having him around.
