Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Nov 2019 10:23

Morning all,

Only just got up at a few mins to 10am. I don't seem to have got used to this clock business yet.

Got really windy here last night and this morning is wet wet wet but the winds dropped a bit for now.

I have just turned the chickens mash on and it stinks. They have tato peelings and carrot peeling from the sheep sh*t pie I made last night. They will enjoy that with their pellets and perhaps it will warm them up a bit and mkae them lay an egg for me.

Gill I get my ideas from Pinterest. I just like to see if I can make the things that are on there. Its like a challenge to myself if you like.

Not dressed yet so I better go and put some clothes on as I am a bit chilly sitting here in my jim jams.

Morning all

We had a reasonable journey here yesterday. Rain on and off and heavy traffic but no real hold ups. It’s dry so far today.

Ann, I am also a rugby refugee. OH quite enjoys watching a game and the rest of them are rugby mad. There is son, dil, his 3 girls, her 2 boys and the granddaughter who travelled up with us all cheering for England but the partner of one of the boys is South African, so she is a bit outnumbered.

I’m being called so I might be back later.

Morning all

Dull and damp here today and more leaves around that have just been picked up and thrown away. So you were right Mandy. Hope you've managed the rest of the clearing in your garden. We have lots of trees by us, so I imagine it's going to be an ongoing job for the next few weeks keeping up with clearing the leaves away.

Had a very late night last night, I had to go and sit outside for about an hour as it was the only thing that would calm down my migraine, I had it for hours and just when I thought it was going it came back again, so needless to say I didn't have a good nights sleep. Thankfully it's now gone, but I feel drained, so may end up having a little sleep later on.

Yes, Sandra is enjoying her lights and loves the fact it goes dark earlier now Ann. Loved your comment on our car going from a tractor to a Rolls Royce lol It does seem strange being so quiet again now, I was getting used to hearing OH coming and going. It sounds like you're making all sorts of nice things lately. Funny you should say about the lady being on Kirstie, my aunt will be on "Home is where the Art is" at least I think it's called that with Nick Knowles in the spring, they went to her house to do the filming a few months ago, so I'll be keeping my eye out for that.

How is the weather down by you Mel? I thought I heard it was quite windy, I only caught the end of what was being said so wasn't sure if I'd heard it right. I hope it's not to bad and your girls and you are okay. Are the older girls still picking on the new ones? Have you had more eggs today? It sounds like you have some more good ideas for your crafts. I like your Ivy necklace, how do you think of these things. You're very clever with your ideas. How did you get on with your family tree? I'm still plodding on with OH's and should be finished by Christmas, well as finished as the tree I'm copying anyway lol

Are you having a nice time with your grandchildren Vera? I remember going to York as a child and found the area very interesting, it's a nice part of the county.

Sandra sent Jane a get well card yesterday and showed it to me before it was posted, she'd signed it Love Sandra and my mum.........bless her cotton socks. I hope Jane receives it okay and it cheers her up, Sandra said she hopes it makes her happy.

Hope Frank is coping okay with his eye, the rest will do it good. Hopefully he'll have some talking books now so he's not to bored.

Our Tesco's had the two tin's for £7 offer the other month AnnG, so we bought a couple of tins of Quality Street, we've been very good and haven't opened them. I'm putting one away for Christmas and the other one is for OH's friend, the one who spends Christmas on his own. We've offered for him to come to us, but he always says "no" maybe this year he'll change his mind and join us, if not he'll enjoy the chocs we give him and the present we've bought for him to open. He doesn't have any family so never has any presents to open, apart from the one's we give him.

Just noticed my cup of tea, better go and drink it before it goes cold. I'd forgotten all about it.

A very wet start here this morning. Hopong to go to town on the bus later though.

Annx Actually my OH is quite good at cleaning, takes a lot longer than me to do it. Despite the mud on the mat and carpet the other week he is usually very careful coming in from the garden and is always getting the hoover out to clean up crumbs (probably dropped by me!). He solved the mud on the mat problem which wouldn't quite come out, it was a very light fawn colour, by buying a new mat :-D

I am a refuge from the rugby up here in my craft room. We won't go out until that has finished.

Annx

Annx Report 1 Nov 2019 21:06

AnnG I doubt OH would be easily 'trained' to do that properly! He does wipe any condensation off the bathroom window after showering now though. He got oil from his tin of sardines on my tray tonight, but it was 'How did that get there', 'I'm sure I never .....etc'. I'm pretty sure my mop instructions say to use distilled water, but they aren't to hand just now. We have hard water here so it seems a good idea to help stop any scale building up and ruining it so quickly. You have done well with all your extra garden rubbish bagged up and taken to the tip. I could do with doing some pruning now the biting insects seem to have gone. Do you find it a bit chilly after a hair trim?

Mandy, we are making a quite thick lariat style necklace tomorrow. (I doubt it will get finished in the time we have!) It looks nice and she had done one to show us in black and gold. My friend with the big cats made a lovely wool felted little mouse with a bag over his shoulder at a workshop at a textile exhibition at the racecourse near here last Sunday. She told me the lady who ran it is appearing on Kirstie's Christmas this year and is decorating a tree, so I shall be very interested to see what she makes.

Gill I'm sure the neighbours will be glad the 'tractor' is now a 'Rolls Royce' again! lol They make such a racket when the exhaust goes like that. :-D It sounds like Sandra is loving her lit up garden now. I think it will keep her happy for a long time! We are still getting fireworks each night here for Diwali although I think they are only supposed to let them off one night now.

I hope Vera didn't have too much rain on the journey. Yorkshire is one of my favourite counties. She is going to enjoy seeing all the grandchildren.

Hello Kitty was sitting in the road in the dark when I got back from filling my car up. I can see him getting run over as he barely blinks when you drive past him, even with headlights on.

Those girls are so mean to newcomers aren't they Mel. It's a good job they can be distracted so the new girls get a look in with some food.

I hope Jane is managing to get some sleep. This waiting for the scan results must be awful.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Nov 2019 20:47

Yes no eggs at all today Mandy. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

I have been doing a bit of my tree as I found some pictures of my rellies on someones tree I looked at as Ancestry sent me a match.

Oh is watching the qualifying for the grand prix this weekend.

I have hoovered the kitchen and diner and got rid of cobwebs I missed the other day. Bet I shall find some more now I have put the hoover away. Had another tidy up of some craft things nad done some painting of wands today and eyes. I want to try and make a Hedwig Owl from Harry Potter and it has yellow eyes so I am painting a pair of googley eyes which look the right size. Also have to work out how to do his body. It will probably be two pom poms sewn together to get the size right.

I have taken a pic of the ivy necklace I made the other week. I ahd to put it on the fan with a twel over the fan as it dos'nt lay flat to get the right idea of it. I'll send it later.

Evening all,

I keep thinking about Jane and i too didn't sleep that well ,i do so hope that the MRI results will bring better news for them <3

It's been a dull and dreary day here with drizzle most of the day ,one of those days were you need the lights on all day .

So you did a tip run today then AnnG ,we have a few tubs ready to go to the tip but there's more to clear so we're hanging on so we can take them all together .
We have the tip just on the edge of the town now which is better ,we use to have to go well out of town to dump at a tip in a village about six miles away .

Hope you arrived safely Vera and the drive wasn't to bad with all the spray ,have a lovely weekend with the family and enjoy Tommy .

Ann that was very nice of the lady to bring you some extra patterns ,you won't know which one to do first :-D
What are you doing tomorrow at the workshop ? sorry you probably have said .

You've been busy leaf clearing Gill ,i think it's going to be quite windy here tomorrow so if it's the same where you are i can see you'll be out there clearing up again .
Ii can remember when i was little all the leaves were swept up and went on the bonfire for bonfire night .
That's good you've got the car exhaust fixed now you'll be able to drive out now with out all the noise :-D

One egg is better than nothing Mel ,Daisy is doing her best you just need the others to copy her now :-D

No Frank today but that's good as it means he's resting that eye .

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 1 Nov 2019 14:32

Well that is my and OH's hair cut, feels so much better when it has been cut.

Annx how kind of the lady to give you more than one pattern, you won't know where to start.
We only have one shower (no ensuite unfortunately. Our shower is over the bath but the bath is shaped (curved out at the tap end) to give more room for showering and it has a glass screen rather than a curtain. I always clean the inside of the screen after showering, even though OH usually follows me, and he has been 'trained' to do the same. The screen always looks shiny clean so is no problem re needing cleaning and it is two years old now.
Why do you use distilled water with your mop? I am pretty sure OH doesn't.

Very hope you have a great weekend seeing all your family and Tommy. Hope you had a safe journey up and will also have a safe one home. the end of half term in this area and others so the roads will be busy.

Sill only one egg Mel, has the other girl not followed through after you had the second egg? Maybe they are disturbed by the third and fourth new ones. Hopefully they will settle.

Gill, Sandra will explode with excitement soon :-D :-D I hope the garden centre is as good as before for her and she has fun. Obviously the pink lights are living up to expectations.

Well we got rid of the garden rubbish at the dump after a long wait in the queue. Not a good day to go as they are shut Thursdays, also they have now gone to 10.00
and winter opening times. We also got rid of a broken printer so that is a bit more space.

Went to Tesco afterwards and they had tins of Heroes, quality Street, Celebrations and one other two for £7 so bought two of those as we give Chocs to the hairdressers at Christmas.

Had a letter re my blood sugar level of 44 (HbA1c) Advising me to change my life style and telling me all the dietary things I should be doing. Which, incidentally I mostly do. Heve to have another blood test in 4 months so had better start tweaking the diet a bit. :-( :-(

Morning all,

I had a bad night last night and could'nt go to sleep. I think I must have had Jane on my mind. sending love again this morning and hoping the MRI will be ok.

Cloudy and wet here again this morning and they say tomorrow we will have the wind back. Its not too cold though.

Safe journey Vera to see all your grandchildren and I know you will enjoy the show Tommy. Can you get some pictures to send us please as we would all love to see them I am sure.

Hope Frank had a good night or better than I did anyway. What are you up to today and did Ros manage to get you any of the talking books from the library? How's your eye this morning?

Sandra is really enjoying her pink lights is'nt she. Are you counting down the days to your birthday on the 23rd Gill. I bet Sandra is as its a month before Christmas roughly.

Still having just the one egg from Daisy but the two new ones are coming out more now but still being chased by the others. I have to keep them occupied with something in the hanging feeder and then the youngest ones come out and eat at the trough.

Gillx Report 1 Nov 2019 11:10

Morning all

Dry here today with a slight breeze, very cloudy but warm. OH and I have just brushed up a pile of leaves so that job is out of the way for a little while until it needs doing again.

It sounds like you've been busy in your garden to AnnG, if you have a full bin and some bags of rubbish to. We need to keep on top of picking up the leaves or they may end up down the grids and block the drains, it gets very windy here, so it's an ongoing job for a month or so. At least it was dry when we did it today. The sun has come out now so that's nice.

OH took the car to be fixed yesterday, the exhaust went the other week and boy did it make a loud noise, it sounded like a big motorbike revving it's engine. The garage he normally takes it to couldn't fix it straight away so he had to wait, so I think the neighbours are now pleased it's done as OH goes out quite early in the mornings so I doubt they'd of had many lie ins. At least we'll be in their good books again now.

Sandra was looking at her pink lights again last night, she opened her blinds and each time the adverts came on she'd run to her bedroom and look at the lights until the adverts had finished. She had such a lovely smile on her face and can't wait for it to go dark again tonight so she can do the same again. I love seeing her face when we do nice things for her. I think I'm a bit soft at the moment as she's already had some of her Christmas presents. I'd bought her some card and envelopes in a pack for her card making and she'd ran out so she's had those and her new pair of slippers, although that was my idea as she kept falling out of her old ones and I thought it was dangerous and then finally she had a book OH had ordered early as it was a follow on one from the one she'd just finished. I really must wrap her present up or she'll end up with them all before Santa arrives. She told me this morning she's running out of pink diamonds which I'm sure I've bought for her, so before I pass them onto her as well I need to wrap everything up. I'm so soft where Sandra is concerned and at this rate she'll have nothing to open on the big day if I carry on giving her things early.

I can't believe we're in November already, where has this year gone? Sandra is now counting the days to the Christmas event at the Garden Centre, the one where they have a choir and food and drink. It's next week and we have a great time there. Last year they had singing penguins which Sandra loved and stood there watching the mechanical very large toy penguins dancing and singing. I wonder what will be there this year. The year before last they had Micky and Minnie mouse and Sandra had a photo taken with them. Her face lights up every year as they have lots of Christmas trees and other light up Christmas things around. She takes her camera every year and has informed me that the batteries will need charging up the day before, so that's me told.

She's also starting to think about my birthday to as that's not long after the night out and of course bonfire night. We used to go to a pub each year as they had a really good firework display, but when we went last year the pub had shut down so now there's no where we know that we can take her to. I'm wondering if the new neighbour across the road will have some fireworks like she did the night of the switch on for Sandra's lights, that way Sandra will be able to see some. I've had a look around to see if there is anywhere close to where we live we can take her to, but couldn't find anything. I'd buy some to let off ourselves but she's a bit afraid of loud bangs so having them so close to her would probably upset her. She's okay at a display as they are further away, so I'll just have to keep my eye out for a display being advertised locally. If all else fails I could buy some sparklers for her, she used to love them when she was younger.

Sandra wants to make you a get well card Jane, so that should be with your shortly. I just told her you weren't well, but not what it was and she's asked me to say GET WELL SOON and to send you some kisses and hugs <3 <3 <3

Thinking of you and your family and hoping you all managed some sleep last night. <3 <3
I'm keeping my fingers crossed the MRI results bring some better news and hoping it doesn't take to long. Keep your chin up Jane and know we are all here for you.

Very wet here again today. We are just about to drive to son’s in Yorkshire for the weekend. We are picking granddaughter no 1 up in Cambridge as she is coming with us and we will all be going to see granddaughter no 3 in Tommy. Must dash. OH is looking at his watch.

Morning All,

I see it is wet outside after a few dry days and I wanted OH to put the garden chairs in the conservatory (no room in the garage now!) but it will have to wait till they are dry again now.

Like you AnnG Jane and her news has been on my mind and I know my head would be so full of it all. I hope she gets news of the scan soon. <3

I'm up early because I got a call from the 'bowling club lady' I met last week. She couldn't find my address and doesn't know how to email the pattern she promised me. I asked if she is going to the workshop tomorrow that I am going to with a friend and she said not but she has a friend who is so is going and will drop the pattern off to her this morning and ask her to give it me tomorrow. She's also enclosing some other patterns for me which is nice of her. Fortunately no mention of joining the club, but she was in a hurry to go out! lol. :-)

HW this morning till we go to the carvery 5 minutes away. The ensuite needs the floor mop round it so I must remember to put distilled water in it this time as I forgot last time. The shower won't need doing as we use the one over the bath usually as the curtain goes in the washer and saves me cleaning glass doors! It's handy to have a spare shower though in case one goes wrong or we can't get into the bath in the future. The ensuite is my little bathroom so it doesn't get as messy without a MAN in there! lol. I must get some cash today as a friend is going to the NEC today and is getting me some felting wool there as it will be cheaper. I can make a start on my next sheep picture then. :-)

Better make a start now I've had a cuppa.

A new month, let us hope the weather is drier this month. Not a good start to the month for our poor Jane. I am hoping that the MRI results wil be better news. Thinking of you Jane and so wishing there was something we could do. <3 <3 <3

Avery grey start to the month in more ways than one as it doesn't look very nice out there although not raining yet. OH has a very early dentist appointment to have impressions taken so he has got up early and gone on his own. I got up half an hour ago, he won't be long although he was obviously feeling fit as he has walked round.
For us it is a tip visit with a huge amount of garden waste again, the bin is full so he filled several huge garden waste bags yesterday. Then we have hair appointments at 1pm.

anyway better get my breakfast. BBL.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 31 Oct 2019 17:35

Ann its funny you should say that about G as I used to not like to look up at the stars either. It made me feel creepy somehow. Since being with oh I can now look at them all ok as he explains everything to me and we watch for the space crafts when they go over. We see klots here with it being so dark with no street lights or neighbours.

Still not done any HW but I did clean the chickens out. Their house was wet with all this rain and them walking in and uot all the time.

I too am pleased you had a good nights sleep Frank and lets hope its the same tonight. It can make a great difference if you can get a good one for a couple of nights running.

AnnG good results from your test then and out of the way for another while. We hav'nt had our flu jabs yet!!! They usually let us know when we should have them and last year they came to the village and we all went up the village hall for them.

As to the length of my hair AnnG it comes down to my knees. I did send the others a pic once a while ago just to prove it is as long as I said. I did say I would have it cut when I was 60 but that did'nt happen. Oh hates it. I used to cut 6 inches off each Christmas but I stopped that a few years ago. It was only the straggerly bits on the ends.

Ann do you think G will have a strum of the ukelele or should I say a pluck?

Hope Jane is now rested after todays ordeal. I wonder when we will hear if she has had her results?
