We've just set up Sandra's lights and we do need two. We used two extension leads so we could get it just right for her and she was so excited and loved the PINK. I went through all the modes and colours just incase she fancied something else, but she decided she wanted pink. So now we know how many we need and where they are going, OH will connect it all together for her in the morning as it's supposed to rain in the afternoon, then she can turn it on and look at it every night.

I did smile when she opened her blinds and said I'll just see what it looks like when I lie down on my bed. Her bed it right across the window and just the right height for her to see the planter lit up while she lies down. I must admit it did look good even if they didn't have quite enough beam on them to meet in the middle, there is light there but not as much as either side. where each light is.

She is so happy and can't wait for it to be done properly tomorrow, then she can turn the lights on every night. As far as we can make out the beams of the lights don't go over the top of the fence into next door so he shouldn't have any complaints about it. He's still away so won't know anything about it until he returns home, we don't know when that will be though.

I haven't read any posts yet, so will catch up with them tomorrow.

Annx what a performance with parking at the hospital. Our is so bad that so far with appointments we go on the bus and walk in. The only time we had the car was when I had a minor op and Needed collecting.

I have nurse Beryl doing my blood test she is the phlebotomist and has been there a long time she is a big lady with a big voice OH calls her big Beryl. She is lovely though.

Never mind if your flower is not so good, you can’t win them all. Most of what you do is great.

Evening All,

Not a bad day here......I should have washed the bedding and put it out, but didn't as I thought it would rain. :-(

Mel, AnnG I didn't do too well at craft group this week with my felted flower, it needs 'The Repair Shop', so will see what I can do with it at home! I went for the burgundy coloured felt which turned out to be very dense and broke a needle straightaway, then, because it was hard to push the needle into, I couldn't keep the centre in the middle! :-S Next week we are doing Batik and fabric printing. It involves dribbling melted wax on the fabric so that should be interesting. I have a cheap T shirt I can use for that.

You asked about the TV Craft Prog Mel. I have liked some of the things like the lady who did glass, but wasn't keen on the quilts the first week. I do like quilted things, just not the style of the ones on the prog. What do you think?

The friend whose husband had a heart attack came home the day after they did his heart procedure, but he became ill and had to go back again and he now has pneumonia, poor chap.

I went for my mammo and it looked like an archeological dig was going on with all the Hospital entrance dug up.OH dropped me off and went to park and the first car park was full due to half of it being dug up. The next car park was full, the third carpark was closed and and the ticket machine at the 4th, where he did find a space wasn't working, so he had to walk back to one of the the others to get a ticket. Not what he wanted with his back playing up after weeding the other day. They were very quick seeing me and seem to have had new equipment as I didn't have to stand on tiptoe this time.......still the same vice like grip though! :-) I had a google when I got home and it seems there is a £450 million revamp going on with the 3 city hospitals.

Mel that's good getting your first egg off one of the new girls. I thought you might have to wait till next spring. How did you tell it was one of them that laid it? You did well with all your cleaning you got done today. I keep seeing those long legged Harvesters at night and then in the bath in the mornings!

Gill, things don't seem to go wrong one at a time do they? OH has a warning light come on about one of his tyres today, so is hoping it isn't a puncture. Although Sandra's lights keep getting setbacks, I expect she will be so thrilled when they are sorted.

Frank, all this lack of sleep won't be helping and being a bit anxious is probably the cause so I wouldn't worry. I think you should see the doc again before long if these new meds don't help soon though. As AnnG says maybe you could go out with Ros in the car somewhere for a change of scene. What about writing some more of your journal as we all enjoyed reading it and would love to read more? :-) :-) That's not very good if he garage couldn't mend the car alarm. I hope you manage to do it yourself after finding some instructions.

That's good you got your cards you made for charity delivered AnnG. A few of us seem to be having routine health things done lately so I hope you get someone good doing your blood test tomorrow.

I bet Jane is counting the days to get this endoscopy done now and and any treatment needed started. <3

Ooh Mel well done that chicken, whichever one is claiming parentage :-D Surely that calls for a glass of something to celebrate.

Frank Maybe you were just practising the Viennese waltz, I am sure there is no way you are heading for any mental hospital. Your brain is too sharp for that.
I think staying in all the time and not getting any stimulation or doing anything different is bound to make anyone depressed. Can you not go out with Ros sometimes (other than for a meal). Is there anywhere that you have been in the past that cheered you up a bit? If you have medication for depression maybe see the doctor again to chat about why it is not working.
I hope you can have a better nights sleep tonight.
And I hope you can fix the alarm. We just have flashing lights on our car the alarm is disconnected.

Frank

Frank Report 23 Oct 2019 16:15

Well the garage say they can not fix the problem with the car alarm. So I have googled How to reset the alarm, and got quite a few answers. So when Ros gets back home, I will try some on the results.

Nice surprise for you Mel. A VIRGIN EGG. I wonder if it will taste any different to the others. ?? So with a bit of luck, the other new one should lay soon, and the others that are coming also. So they will soon be paying for their keep. xxx

Frank Report 23 Oct 2019 15:33

Afternoon all, I am getting worried about myself. This morning I stood in the bedroom and for NO REASON I turned full circle. There was a girl in the village who started doing that, when she was walking along the road. She ended up in a MENTAL HOME.

Again I was awake at 3.00 am this morning. Finally fell asleep around 7.30 until 10.00 am Ros had gone out to take the car to a garage in town, who we think can fix the alarm. She had to leave it there, Val Barker was good enough to go and collect her. Tony will take Ros back to collect it, if and when they ring TODAY. Otherwise it will be tomorrow. It all depends on their work load.

Not read any posts again SORRY. I do hope this depression and Ackieness soon clears up, as I am getting fed up felling like this.

Chicken curry tonight, one of Ros's specials, always very tasty and never too spicy .

Stay safe all, see you tomorrow. xxxx

Only just got on here been busy with the weekly Tesco shop and putting it all away, how much stuff do two people need??
Also took the cards for selling to my housebound friend so those are out of my way now.
anyway since had lunch, got the evening meal on the go and finally got on here.
Hope the Mammogram went ok Ann and the craft class. What did you make this time?

Mel that was a busy busy morning, spiders don't get a chance to get under my keyboard as it gets moved back when I make cards.

Gill Sandra's card is on the book shelf in this room, my craft room, it sparkles nicely!!
Hopefully you will soon get the lights fixed for her..

OH is cutting the lawn so that will make the garden look better although the grass is not as dry as he'd like.

Tomorrow I have to be up early (for us) as I have a blood test (not a fasting one at 0940. Just a routine one for my medication.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Oct 2019 14:48

I have had such a good morning. I have hoovered every room in the house all nine of them. Sucked up all the flies and cobwebs an d spiders, done one lot of washing which is on the line and made soup for lunch with hot rolls. Tidyied up the airer in the hall but did'nt get the bathroom finished in the way of cleaning the bath and handbasin and loo.

Gill things always go wrong all at once and around Christmas time and then all the blooming bills come in after Christmas. Vicious circle come to minds.

Sandra is being very patients with her lights bless her. Did you see the link I sent you by pm? You could get your oh's friend to get her one of those and she could use it straight away once you put 3 AAA batteries in it and no wiring as the remote does it all, chcnge the colours etc. You can even put this light under water.

Gillx Report 23 Oct 2019 14:23

Afternoon all

Bright and sunny and we have everything we need for Sandra's light but then hit another problem so it can't go in today. We should of plugged the light on an extension lead last night to see how far the beam of light travels along the planter, but we didn't do it because we thought the cable wasn't arriving until Friday so we had a bit more time to test it. So now we don't know if we need one or two lights and will have to put them on extension leads tonight to see what it looks like, as we need to use different connectors depending on how many lights we put in. So OH has made another stand for the second light so we can try them both together tonight and then we'll know how many we need so the job can be done tomorrow if it's not raining. Poor Sandra we seem to be hitting problem after problem with her lights, but as soon as we know what the effect will be with one or two lights we should be able to connect it up for her. Another problem we hit was the cable is thicker than we thought so the cable clips we put in the other day are to small and now have to be changed. I hope after all these problems when it's finally done it gives the effect she is hoping for.

I've let Sandra know your card arrived safely AnnG, she is pleased as punch you like it <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

I told Sandra you like the advert to Mel, it's really funny isn't it? I've also told her you still have your card out and love seeing it everyday, it made her smile. I see you saw a bit of the meteor shower, we tried looking, but it was to cloudy. Did you make a wish? OH saw a bit of the meteor shower a few days ago, so at least he's seen something, unlike me I didn't see anything and we've been looking for a few days now. I think tonight is the last night, so I hope I see something then.

Sandra doesn't go looking for her Christmas presents Ann. I do feel better when they're all wrapped up, just incase she does come across the hiding place by accident, that has happened before.

The exhaust has gone on the car, so that's booked in to be fixed at the end of the month, it's making a very loud noise each time he turned the engine on now. It's not going to be cheap either and we need to have new tyres and the break pipe need sorting, although OH is sorting that out now, he said it just needs a bit of rubbing down. I hope that's all is it as the car is starting to cost us more than we paid for it.

Going to check the washing on the radiators now, it's to cold to peg it out and we had the heating on anyway, so I thought I might as well put it on the rads and save time using the dryer. OH thinks some of the thermostats on the radiators need sorting as those rads don't get as hot as the ones without them. He knows a fella who can sort it for us, so I'll text him later to see if he can come and take a look. I can't find the paperwork for the dryer which also needs fixing, so I'll have to try again to find it. I think the insurance runs out in December, so I'd better get my skates on and get it sorted. Why does everything go wrong all at the same time and close to Christmas, it always seem to happen that way doesn't it?

I see Ros is on top of the Christmas shopping Frank, we need to make a day to take Sandra to do hers, she's been asking me but it's still a bit early yet as the shop she likes to go to doesn't have much until November. Still, it's not that long off.
That was nice of Barry to offer to do the Astro Turf if Harvey is busy, it's well worth doing and will look lovely and less maintenance when it's done.

Morning all,

Nice bright morning here all misty and moisty too but the sun will burn that off .

I actually saw a meteor last night at 12.15am. Just the one.

Hope Ann's mammogram goes off ok today and it dos'nt make her too uncomfortable. I know it can for some women. Also that she has a nice time Crafting today. I wonder what they are going to make???? No doubt Ann will tell us this evening.

today I am going to clean the big bathroom and the bedroom. I had to window open in the bedroom yeterday and I now have 7 flies in there. Horrid things just love the sunny bungalow walls and the front of my shed. It was covered in flies at the weekend when the suns was on it and they were all inside so I put fly pen round all the windows and then went in the next day and swept up all the dead bodies. The next day when I got the bantam food out of my shed I left the top door open as it was'nt raining and went back a bit later to find a few dead on the sills. Later when I went to get the bantams corn out there was'nt a fly in there. A bit later we saw Robby in there up on the windowosills flitting from here to there and he was eting the dead flies. He cleaned out all the ones that had gone down the gap between the glass and the wood that my brush would'nt reach so he earns his keep in there and Jenny Wren too.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 22 Oct 2019 22:50

Good luck with the mammo tomorrow Ann. Hope everything will be ok and you arn't squished too much. I must book myself in for one now I am 70 I think thats right is'nt it? I wonder what you will be doing in the craft class.

What have you lot thought about the Thursday craft programs?

Oh got some of the grass cut this morning but said the ground is still too wet really and it got very cold out there. Not for me in Bideford though I had to take my coat off after I had been in Lidl as the sun was out and it was really quite warm. When I arrived home it was really cold!!! It just goes to show what a difference 13 miles makes and nearer the sea.

I have just lifted up my keyboard and found a dead spider underneath. I wonder how long thats been there?? All its legs are neatly folded in and I have taken a pic!!!! It was on a piece of paper I keep under there if I need to write things down.

Well I think I shall watch Dublin Murders now and then go to bed as I have had a tiring day.

Hope Frank sleeps better tonight too and Ann.

Oh he had fillings and eventually a crown in the front as smoking ruined that tooth but no extractions meaning dentures until 78. My Dad had dentures in his 60s but Mum still had most of her teeth when she died age 85. Just told him I am getting a new man bit by bit, that raised a chuckle. Good luck with the mammogram.

Annx

Annx Report 22 Oct 2019 21:29

I don't have many back teeth now either AnnG. I think my mum lost her first one after I was born when she was 20. Your OH has done really well to have no trouble till he was 78!! He must have looked after them well. I had a friend when I was in my 20s who didn't even have a filling!

Just had a shower and shave under my arms ready for the mammogram! The craft thing starts at 9.30am in the morning so there's only time for a shower before I go.

OH will be home later as he's at a local match with a pal. He managed to weed the front this morning and get some notes done and I did some hoovering and changed the bed so at least we both got some things done today.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 22 Oct 2019 20:55

I have had a top front plate, two teeth first then one added since I was 21, abscess after childbirth. OH had no trouble until he was about 78. I have a lot of back teeth missing and one tooth that will be the next to go on the side of my existing plate.

Annx

Annx Report 22 Oct 2019 20:43

New eyes and teeth then AnnG! You are getting a 'new' man bit by bit! I need a new plate really but a tooth I got crowned was a bit achey after and the dentist didn't hold out a lot of hope so I've been hanging on to see if it would have to come out. I did have a plate for one tooth and hated it and it didn't fit after another extraction so I've managed without since. At least I don't show much of my teeth so it isn't too noticeable. My mother had none of her own teeth by the time she was sixty so I suppose we do well compared with our parents.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 22 Oct 2019 20:04

So new glasses for OH this morning although not expensive ones though. Then dentist for him this afternoon, he has had a very loose tooth, the one next to the two front teeth, for ages and went to ask the dentist for advice. So he said ooh this is loose and took it out. And he now has to have a second plate. He already hates the first one so I look forward (not a lot) to the next few weeks and the bill. Already a deposit of £100 and stupid man didn’t ask the final price.

Interesting about Aldi I will have to ask daughter. We always use credit cards when booking holidays.

Annx

Annx Report 22 Oct 2019 19:30

Evening All,

AnnG I agree that Aldi and Lidl never used to take credit cards but our Aldi takes credit cards now and has done for some time. I don't know about Lidl as we haven't been for ages. We each have two credit cards incase we lose one and so can use the other. It is worth having them as you say, as there are different schemes with different ones where you get cashback or earn points. I used to love the BHS points I could earn and would get about £80 of vouchers to spend every year. The cards we have now earn reward points we can spend at High St stores or on line. Like you we have always paid each month off in full so there are never any charges and we like the section 75 protection you get with a credit card if a company you order from goes bust.

Frank I had a similar bad night in that it was daylight before I went to sleep at all! I replied to an email at 3.00am after a friend had contacted me to say her hubby had had another heart attack and had his third stent and a balloon fitted yesterday. He was due to have the operation next Monday as well, so it's a shame he had to suffer this other heart attack so close to the date. I have felt so lethargic today I haven't done much. I'm glad you got Barry to mow the lawns and that he will be pruning the tree. It isn't worth hurting yourself doing these things. It's good the treatment Ros is having for the water infection is going well and she's a quick knitter isn't she!!

I see Sandra is loving her latest gifts from AnnG and Mel Gill! She loves her surprises doesn't she and will enjoy the DVD you have bought for Christmas as well. How do you hide things from her or is she good and doesn't go looking for things that are hidden? :-D I see you nearly have everything to get her light working.....it will be like Blackpool Illuminations for her only in PINK!

OH was telling me about the city primary schools today and said one with over 600 children only has 2% white children as the rest are all ethnic minorities. Over half of the children are learning english and there are 32 different languages spoken at home. It just shows what a challenge it must be for the teachers!

The craft class starts again tomorrow and is free again so I wonder what we will be making. The teacher said something about Christmas things at the last class. Then in the afternoon it is my mammogram so we'll be off to the hospital.

Frank

Frank Report 22 Oct 2019 14:44

Would you believe, I had to sign in before I could post. Never happened since I joined. So gawd knows why this has happened.

Not feeling much better this morning. was in bed 10.30 and went off to sleep. 3.00 am I woke, and that was it for the night. So I feel like an early night coming on.

Ros was at the hospital, with her water infection at 10.40 this morning. Everything is going in the right direction, she has to go back again in three weeks. She then went CHRISTMAS SHOPPING. Came home with a BIG BAG from TK MAX full of presents. She says she only has to buy a few more things, and she will be done. I HOPE SO LOL LOL

Barry has been and cut both lawns, he will be back Saturday am to prune, the Apple tree. He said he has laid Astroturf before, so if Harvey is unable to do it, he can. I am still wondering if it's worth all the hassle, even going there, we will make up our minds,

I flashed over your postings, and pleased you are all O.K. That bungalow certainly looks a right old mess Jane. Has it gutted the inside. ??

I see our Sandra is a happy little soul, having more card making materials, you are so good sending things to her Ann and Mel. It's something that wouldn't cross my mind, but there again I am a MAN ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Very overcast here this afternoon. Ros has almost finished her cardigan, I am sure it will look nice when it's finished. Then I expect she will go back to making more "TWIDDLE MUFFS" for Sally, and the Ambulances.

Roast chicken all stuffed and ready for the oven. Roast potato's and Parsnips. Swede and carrot mashed in butter, Runner beans, and cabbage. So we won't be going hungry tonight. lol

Ready for a COT and a bit of Nat. Geo. Have a good afternoon all, and hope Mel didn't forget anything while shopping. ;-) ;-)
