Afternoon all

Dull and wet now after a sunny start to the day. It was a bit cold this morning but then warmed up, so I think we've had all the weather in one day apart from snow lol :-D

I see your blood tests came back okay Frank, that's a good result and when the new meds kick in you'll start to feel much better. I hope all goes well for Ros, you never know they maybe able to do something for her that hasn't already been tried.

Pleased to hear Lewis is better now and back at school Mandy, that must be a relief for everyone with him being so poorly. Thanks for the idea of Christmas Bunting, I'd have to find somewhere that sells some nice Christmas material as the place around the corner has shut down, it's a good idea as she has a picture rail around her walls so it could be attached to that.

I wonder how Jane is, I've been thinking of her. When is she back home?

My OH has cut the lawns today to Mel, you're right the grass is still growing quite quickly considering the time of year. Love the pics you send.

It sounds like you've had a lovely day planned for today Vera. Hope you had fun.

I've been bitten a few times while sorting out the garden, I look like a dot to dot book :-D :-D I hope all those you have bite aren't to itchy.

I haven't heard of Macrame for years Ann, I always wanted to learn how to do it but never seemed to have the time to look into it further. Maybe if I get some free time later in the year I might look into it.

I've been busy today fixing some screening that had broken by the greenhouse, then I decided to move all the screening I did for Sandra's garden down a bit to make them meet better at the joins. When I cut the end piece to size it wasn't straight all the way up, but I cut it straight and over lapped it from the middle up to the top, so I used the over lapped bit to my advantage and managed to close the gaps further down by sliding it all along, so it looks much better now when Sandra looks out at it. I had intended on cutting the wood for the make shift planter but it started raining so that'll have to be done tomorrow if it's not raining. I found a climbing Fatsia I had in the back garden which was just the right height so that's been put at the end where the two fences meet and once I make the planter I'll ask OH to put a shelf inside to sit the other plants on that way they'll be raised and look good against the tall plant. Sandra is so excited bless her. I've been thinking of buying aquatic lights as I know you can buy extension leads for those, that way we can put a proper plug on it so we can plug it inside for her and the lights won't be effected by the rain. I think she's looking forward to the lights more than the plants so I'll have to work something out or she'll be disappointed and I don't want that.

My hand is a lot better today, but still looks awful with the big black and purple bruise. At least I can type now, so that's good.

Going to watch Emmerdale from last night now then Neighbours with Sandra, she's been waiting all day to watch it. Then I can sort dinner out and settle down for the evening.

Mel, the reason the milton one works apparently is because it is non alcohol based so I assume the one I have bought from Amazon (we have premium so postage free and delivery next day), should work as well. Trouble is with any of them there is no way of knowing if they are as good as they say until they don't work :-D I will still look at for the milton one anyway as I need more than one.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 3 Oct 2019 14:55

Mandy I was going to say the same about the antibac being in the baby isle after all Milton is baby products. You should have asked at the till AnnG. You can buy it online at Amazon but its dearer of course but delivered to the door that way.

Well we will see how you get on with thses new pills Frank. I do hope they work for you. Did the doc say why you are not sleeping well?

Ann I love michaelmas daisys too. My mauve ones up the border have been overrun with bindweed and couch grass on one end but there are another bunch up the other end so I shall have to have a look at those ones when I go up there again. I tried to dig up a bit of the pink ones to put up the border but I could'nt get any out. they are under the box hedge on the bit of garden outside the kitchen window. I meant to tell you not to bleach that wool Ann, sorry but you know they dye sheep to put into shows a browny yellow colour to show their fleece off better.

I bet Lewis was pleased to be well enough to go back to school and see all his friends.

Hope Jane has had some good moments with her friend. I keep thinking about her.

Mandy I did look in the baby products isle as Milton is used a lot with baby stuff but couldn't see it there. But I have found this: EcoHydra Alcohol Free Antibacterial Foam Instant Hand Sanitiser 500 ml on Amazon and ordered it. It actually says it protects against norovirus.and 99.999 infections.

Frank good that all the tests were good, well done and let's hope we see the new jolly, active Frank when the new meds start to work. :-D :-D

Frank Report 3 Oct 2019 14:13

Hear I am. !!! Sat in drs waiting room for 45 minutes before being seen. I have never seen so many people, in the waiting room, for a longtime.
\
Everything is fine, she said every test was as good as it could be on my bloods. Especially for a man of my age. I have got to change to a stronger depression tablet. She is hoping it will put more life into me. I have to go back in two weeks to see how things are.

The walk to the Drs and back just about Bu@@ers me. I had to sit on a couple of walls on the way back.

Nice photo's of the FLUTTERBYS Mel. That's what Ros calls them ;-) ;-) After I went to bed last night, I heard a scream, It was Ros. She had seen the BIGGEST SPIDER EVER. She swore you could have put a "saddle on it" and rode it round the lounge I searched everywhere for it, but without any luck. When I got up in the night,I saw that she had put the DRAUGHT EXCLUDER across the lounge door. so it couldn't get from the lounge to the bedroom. Still no sign of it this morning.

We have to be at the Woodlands Hospital for 6.50 pm this evening to see the Surgeon and specialist about Ros's back. We don't expect there is anything they can do for her. But worth seeing, if things have changed in any new treatments. You can but hope. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Nice to see little Lewis is back at school Mandy, and that he is over that bug.

Can't remember who has said what, as I am on a new page. SORRY. I trust you are all well, and getting over any ailments you have had recently.

Val's son it here this afternoon, working on the decking. Banging and drilling to keep me company, as Ros it at Stitchery Do.

I think Ros is planning on having something to eat on the way back from the hospital this evening. If so, I don't know how she will be able to go to Choir Practice, as that starts at 7.30 this evening.

Ros has just walked in, so will see how she got on today. Bye for now. xxx

Afternoon all

Dull here today ,we nipped to the farm to get eggs and then had a wander round Roys came home and put the BBQ and the garden chairs away for the winter .

AnnG i wonder if that hand gel might be with the baby products in Tesco's ,i'm sure i've seen Milton in the baby isle .

How did it go at the doctors Frank ?

Mel they were lovely photo's of the flowers and butterfly .

I don't now why but for some reason i keep thinking today is Friday .

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 3 Oct 2019 12:49

Just back from Tesco, we went to the second large one, this one nearer the town and doesn't involve travelling the bypass which has massive roadworks on one side.
Annx I must have searched every isle, starting in the medicines, washing, soap etc area for hand gel of any sort and couldn't find any let alone the Milton one. If you find some please do let me know the location you find it if Tescos and any other store if different. I will try Boots in town on Saturday. Actually I will look to see if it is available on line as well.

Dry but very dull here today, OH is out in the garden trying to beat the forecast rain. Back is not so good again today.

Annx Report 3 Oct 2019 10:56

Morning All,

Sun's out at the moment but I think we are due wind and rain later, so the towels are in the washer, but not washed yet.

Yes, the bite cream has made another appearance Mandy! lol. It's not such a big lump this time which is good, but still itchy! That's great Lewis is well enough to go to school now. I bet he has missed seeing his new playmates. I didn't like the last crafting prog with Kirsty and the well known people doing the crafts either. Typical with most of them it was all about 'them' being in the public eye and some didn't even try with the crafts. I didn't like most of what they made either!! I hope Colin soon feels better with the tablets in time for his birthday meal with the family tomorrow. It isn't nice when you feel dizzy. It sounds like your surgery is booking up fast with the flu jabs. Michaelmas daisies have always been a favourite and the flowers would have lasted well on your teacher's desk.

Well I just looked at the wool I bleached for felting with and instead of it getting whiter it is all a gingery fawn colour now, so I'll have to save it to use on something other than sheep! lol. I saw some wool for sale that had little bobbles on it at the garden centre and it was very cheap so we will go there today and have a jacket potato while we are there.

Lovely pics of the daisies and Red Admiral butterfly Mel. I always found those pink ones didn't get mildew so much as theothers for some reason..

I think it was a bug I had as OH also had a headache yesterday and then got tummy pains and indigestion. He seems fine this again morning though.

I saw a Squirrel on the fence in the back garden this morning and thought it must be the one I saw before. When it got closer I could see it was a small young one with a very slim body and face. Off it went towards the front along the side fence and probably over the road to the Walnut tree wherever it is. :-)

A quick good morning all. Had a beautiful day yesterday at Knole but it was very chilly. Looks as though it is going to stay dry today but it's quite cold again.

Must have a shower and get ready as I am off to a birthday lunch (ladies only :-)). It's supposed to be an all day affair. Lunch in a local pub, back to the birthday girl's house for coffee. Rest of the afternoon and a sandwich tea there, followed by an evening of indoor bowling. I've managed to duck out of the tea and bowling so will be home before 5.

Hope all your aches and pains are feeling better and you all have a good day. Might BBL

I see I am the first so far today but will I be when I post thats the thing.

Its quite chilly here this mroning.

I actually only made one card in the end but it was quite complicated decoupage and I wanted to make it right. I do like to make some that are a bit different and I was pleased with that one.

Mandy, good that Lewis has gone back to school which shows he has recovered.

We have quite a large patch of lavender coloured Michaelmas Daisies.mit started off as one small plant and spread.

Gill getting on with the garden now then.

Gillx Report 2 Oct 2019 19:21

Evening all

After a rainy start it's been a lovely sunny day so OH and I have been busy sorting the garden out, not that I could lift much, but I did manage to sort out the bottom border which looks brilliant. We started by taking out one of the taller plants for Sandra's garden but when we took it down the side it was far to wide to use, so now OH is going to build a bench to stand the pots on to raise them then clad it all to make it look like a big raised border. We spent ages tidying up all the grasses we have so we can put a few of them in between the other plants to bulk it up for her then we can go shopping for some nice bits and bobs to add. I'm hoping to find fairies and maybe butterflies, then of course we need to sort out the lights for her. So all in all we've been very busy today and will probably be busy for the next few days building Sandra's garden and finishing off the back garden. Needless to say I never got around to colouring my hair.

I haven't caught up with the posts so hope everyone is okay, my hand is playing me up a bit, so typing is hurting it. I'll catch up with the posts tomorrow after I've rested my hand.

I've got some Michaelmas daisies in the font garden ,a purple one and a pink one but this year they seem a bit sparse ,mum always had them in the garden and i can remember taking big bunches in to school when it was Harvest service , i use to take my teacher flowers which she would have on her desk .

Get some cream on that bite Ann .

Evening all,

It's been a beautiful day here lots of sun shine but a bit on the chilly side .

Glad you feeling better now Ann ,Lewis went back to school today he's much better now .
Oh it will be interesting then to see what the crafting group do on the prog Ann ,i'm looking forward to it ,i just hope it's better than the last craft prog that was on a while ago .
It was funny that Macrame was mentioned i was looking at Macrame on pinterest the other day .

Ros got some good bargains then Frank ,some one must have had a good clear out ,will the curtains go with the new covers that she had for her birthday ?

Gill could you make some nice christmas bunting for Sandra's bedroom ,may be put some little pockets on the flags so it could be like an advent calendar .

How did the card making go AnnG did you get some made ?
I like the little Violas too ,i had some little yellow ones come up in a couple of my wall planters they must have been in the compost as i hadn't planted any .

I hope Jane has had a good couple of days with her friend and that she hasn't tired her out with all the laughing she had planned to do :-D
I expect today was the hardest day for her having say goodbye to a good friend ,it's good she has James with her as he was so good last time she was upset .

Colin has been to the doctors today he has been going a bit dizzy at times ,she thinks it might be a bit of Vertigo so he has some tablets to take .
He had also booked his flu jab for Saturday week a few days ago and when we sat in the doctors i heard them say October was now fully booked for flu jabs and they were now going into November
It's Colin's birthday on Friday and we should be going out with son and DIL for a lunch so i hope the tablets will help.

Annx Report 2 Oct 2019 18:30

I used to have some of those deep pink Michaelmas daisies that the butterflies love Mel. I've never forgot going to the village shop when I was about 7 and the lady whose garden was next to the shop asking me to look at her garden next to the lane. It had a long border full of the daisies with butterflies everywhere!! I didn't know where to look first and have never seen so many butterflies in a garden since. I bet she never realised the memory would stay with me all these years. :-D Look forward to seeing a pic. That's good the Pheasants have a bolt hole in your garden. I can't say I'm keen on them being bred and shot for sport. The poor things we see here at the roadside often look a bit bewildered, which they probably are after being evicted from the only home they've known. :-(

You are right AnnG, it was Saltash that Jane was going to before coming home. It rang a bell as soon as I saw your post. I had a macrame double bowl hanger kit in the 70s and made it up, but it only used a few stitches. I had it hanging at the side of an archway into the dining room with Spider plants in it. It's supposed to be popular again now and I was surprised at the variety of things that can be made when I looked on Pinterest.

Frank that was great that you phoned and thanked Barry for what he did as it did sound as if he'd worked really hard. I always try to show appreciation like that for something well done. It costs nothing to say a few words that will make people feel good and appreciated. :-D Ros has done well with her bargains hasn't she. It is surprising what you can find in charity shops, even new things that people have changed their minds about or that don't fit. I got some new crocs for the garden once as I like the way you can slip them on and off.

I went to help OH fetch the washing in earlier and something has bitten me on the neck, but I felt it and knocked it off quickly so hopefully it won't react too much!!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Oct 2019 18:08

AnnG you don't have to know how to crochet to do Macrame as most of it is tying knots. I made a hugh plant hanger in my younger days when it was popular and other things too. Mum bought me the right board and the pins to use on it. I have still got somewhere the book I bought on it as I always wanted to do a curtain and a little hanging shelf.

That was some good buys Ros got at the charity Shop Frank. Good on her for spotting a bargain. Nice new curtains for the bedroom.

All the washing dried today, well nearly dried and the coverlet went in the tumble dryer as he will want that tonight and I wanted to make sure it was really dry before he slept under it. Ironed the pillow cases but not the sheets yet. I don't get on well iron sheets as they are sooo big as we have a king sized bed. I do try though and they look ok and smell nice which is the main thing. They soon get creased up with oh lying on the bed anyway.

How did you do with your cards AnnG. How many did you get done?

I had a little sort out of my feathers to see if I can get two more fans out of them. Tidyed away some lace and found some lace that smelled a bit so thats going in the washing machine in a wash bag with some other bits of lace from mums trunk. It all smells a bit musty in there and I should really have the lot out and wash what I can.

Hope Jane has had some good moments with her friend and that the friend was able to talk with Jane. Been thinking of them both today. Sending love and wishes. <3

Mel so your garden is a pheasant refugee camp!!!

Annx I guessed you had missed my post. Yes we do both keep plodding on regardless of the various aches and pains. Mine is a lot better but I must remember to get up and move around a bit in the middle of card making.

Years since I have heard any mention of macrame, It used to be popular for making hangings for indoor plant pot holders. I could never do it as I have never been able to learn to crochet. I have tried and just can't work it out. Maybe if my Mum had crocheted she would have taught me as she did knitting but she didn't.

Frank I am sure that Barry would have appreciated being thanked.

Lucky Ros to find all those bargains in a charity shop. I guess Stony Stratford is quite a well off place.

Frank

Frank Report 2 Oct 2019 13:32

Afternoon all, MY YOU HAVE BEED BUSY CHATTING> !!!!

I phoned Barry yesterday afternoon to thank him for all he did in his two hours, and how pleased I was with the lawns. A little praise and thanks goes a long way. ;-) ;-) ;-)

I had a great night last night, only got out once. We were woken at 9.00 am by SIMON phoning. Ros said we were up and about, and handed me the phone, while she got up and made the tea. He and Sally have been to POLAND to the SALT MINES AND THE PRISON OF WAR CAMP (I can't spell it) lol, He said he went with friends, and enjoyed the experience. Everywhere is spotlessly clean in the Prison. The Salt mines have lots of carvings from the distant pass.

Bright sunshine here, and warm in the sun. Ros is busy altering Bedroom Curtains. When she was out with Carolyn on Tuesday, they went to Stoney Stratford near Milton Keynes. They went into a Charity Shop for a nose around, and found so many BRAND NEW THINGS. She bought a set of blue curtains still in the original packaging for £10.00, three of four new scarves and wraps, for Christmas presents, for next to nothing. They then went into a Cafe for a hot chocolate. (They only do VEGAN) and dark chocolate drink. So they had tea, which came in a glass cup with tea leaves in the bottom, and a strainer on the top. Most odd, but as it was pouring with rain they had no option but to stay there. !!

I don't like to see Pheasants breed of shooting, let them survive in their wild habitat.

I hope Jane's visit to her friend went off without incidents. very difficult situation.

Yes my Sisters condition was known to Val, in Australia. I think it's so nice that she still keeps in touch and enquires after her.

Time for lunch, so will catch up later. xxx
