Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Aug 2019 22:16

Mandy have the police not been able to lend you a survalance camera? I do think its a bit off supposing it happens again when you get a new liner??????????

Vera we have the dog show on our front field every year. It used to be run by a lovely lady and was a really big event at one time but now its just local. The lady was very ld and she moved away to live near her daughter but she is now dead so we carry it on for Nancy's sake as she was a well known person in the village. The money raised used to go to the village hall and the church but the village hall have now backed out so its all to do with the church now. They do lovely cakes and things in the hall and we used to have a BBQ too but not sure ifs thats happening now but there will be a raffle.

Yes my Brimble Jelly is Bramble Jelly but Brimbles is the devon word for blackberries.

Evening all,
Just a quick look in as we have Lacey here ,we have been to Pensthorpe for most of the day ,she's had a lovely day feeding all the ducks and we're all tired out .

Not a lot to report on the pool ,we eventually got to the police station ,when we went at the time given there was no one there so we had to go back later .
They just wanted to go through every thing with us I think we were in there for over an hour .
No more damage done and we have now put in a claim so we now have a form on line to fill in which we'll do over the weekend .

Hooray, I have got on at last :-D. I’ve had no trouble getting on to Genes and then the other boards but I haven’t been able to get into General Chat all day. Every time I tried I got the error message. I also use post date to get quickly to the last post.

Talking of errors I made another one today - a typo similar to Frank’s recent one. In an email I put “If you see the post before K. dies”. Oops. Of course, it should have read “before K. does”. Luckily I noticed it as soon as I had sent it, so was able to immediately send another one apologising.

Yes, Jane, granddaughter did feel awkward telling me about the cheque. Apparently she rang her mother first to ask whether she should tell me or not. We had a good laugh about it and had a lovely chat on the phone. She was telling me all about a visit she had made to a NT place, Canons Ashby.

I’ve lost track Mel. Is it bramble jelly you are making? I used to love that when I was a child. That is a very impressive stripey field in your photos but the sparrowhawk gives me the shivers. How much land do you have? And what is the dog show all about? I hope your back doesn’t give you too much pain.

Enjoy your weekend Pippyn. It looks as though the weather is going to be good for whatever you have planned.

We are going to a summer party on Sunday. It’s not far from us so no problem for OH and we are invited for 4 pm to as late as we like. It’s likely to be very hot but might be cooling down a bit by evening.

OH had to see the physio today and she was amazed at how quickly he is recovering. It’s now just a question of carrying on with his exercises and gentle walking and hoping he can in time get back to his normal self. She only wants to see him again if he starts to feel worse, so that’s good news.

Well, I had better post this while the site is working. You never know when it’s going to get temperamental again..

Frank, you need to do nothing strenous tomorrow .Just enjoy the the sun. Take it easy :-D Keep rubbing in the pain relief gel.

It is still so hot here. All I have on is a long sun dress and flip flops :-D I think I have been able to ditch the crutch now . Just got a walking stick if I need :-D

Jane Report 23 Aug 2019 17:23

All sorted with the lap top now :-D Mel ,this year has just flown by .It feels crazy. But as we all know the older we get the years go more quickly :-(

Love the stripey grass Mel . Shame about poor old Pidge got by the Hawk :-( That has happened a few times over the years in our garden.

Mandy ,how did the meeting go with the Police ?

Fitz is as I speak at the Doctors . He was not happy having to wear his moccasin slippers LOL Not a cool look :-D. I told him no-one would be interested in his footwear . So we are waiting to hear from him sometime to let us know what the problem is with his swollen foot.

Mel have you twisted a bit odd to cause the pain in your side? Hope it isn't too painful for too long

Frank Report 23 Aug 2019 17:14

Lost a half an hour post this morning. The screen just went BLANK on me.

Not stopping, as I have overdone things. I decided to cut the back lawn as Barry won't be around for another two weeks. WRONG DECISION. I absolutely Bu@@@@ed myself. I had a job to even get the mower back in the garage. Ros has been rubbing DEEP FREEZE GEL, into my shoulders and back this afternoon. I think I will go and sit under a hot shower for a while, to see if that helps.

Will be back on tomorrow. See you then. xxxx

Enjoy your weekend and day out Pippyn.

Jane I have to get oh to do my pc every now and then and the new phone as I am not getting on with it very well. I hate having to learn new things and he's not as patient with me as he used to be. Grumpy old man.

Jane Report 23 Aug 2019 14:09

Mel ,I can't believe the Dog Show has come round so quickly. If I remember it was a bit of a wash out last year. Looking forward to seeing the stripey grass :-D

Chris is taking over my laptop and phone this afternoon as I need things doing(that I have no idea how to do myself) so I will be gone for a few hours .

Jane

Jane Report 23 Aug 2019 13:43

Afternoon Everyone

Have a lovely weekend Pippyn :-D Its going to be a right scorcher. It's actually too hot for me already outside. Not a breath of wind at all.

I always use the post date to get in here .
Well I went to Tesco this morning and the traffic on the A14 was horrendous :-SIt seemed to be mainly big lorries ,either heading to or coming from Felixtowe docks I reckon.I don't think I will be venturing out again now until Sunday or Monday.
James will no doubt have a rotten journey down to Canterbury tonight. He is really not in best frame of mind what with the redundancy looming(possibly Tuesday) and I think it is crunch time about him and Jess.He said he has to make a decision. If he does end it I will be so worried about him driving back as I know he will be in a state :-(

Vera,I think the mistake you made on Grandaughters cheque is easy enough to do.Did your Grandaughter feel awkward having to ring you to tell you ?

They have finished the work on the other side of the barrier now and it is a junction now . But the road won't be open again until the new junction at the top of the road (outside your old house Frank) has been completed. We think that will be next week.

Just spoke to Fitz and he has a swollen foot and part of the bottom of his leg. He says he doesn't think it is a DVT but Chris has said he needs to get it looked at asap,so he is goig to ring the Surgery to see if he can be seen today.

Chris is calling :-S

I've FINALLY got on here via the 'find page' button!! Lovely day so we're off out for a pub lunch, then over to daughters for the afternoon. Don't think I'll be back on here this weekend as we've quite a lot on, so I hope everyone has a nice bank holiday, and that the weather is good wherever you are!

Morning AnnG and all,

Thats if you can get on here to read any posts.

We have lovely sunshine this morning and lots of blue sky with a few wispy white clouds.

Oh is out there with the mower deck off so I expect he will say his back is bad again later on. He has been mowing the top field where we have the dog show on Monday and it looks so ovely he has done in in stripes this year. He asked me to take a picture when I went up to pick the apples.

AnninGlos Report 23 Aug 2019 08:39

Good morning all. Strange that people don't like going to the last post via the post date button, I find it much easier, it takes you straight there and it is not difficult to trawl down to the last post you read and then read upwards. The reason that it takes for ever or doesn't even do it when you try to access the last thread so it is in date order is because this is one of the threads that is so long it takes too long for the computer to get there so it times out and you get the error thread. It is happening more at the moment because, as we know, there is something nit right with their timing and the error thread is coming up constantly.

Vera that is the sort of thing I would do with a cheque when not concentrating - mind on too many things at once.
Ledbury is one of the so called black and white towns with Tewkesbury, Ludlow and some smaller villages I think so maybe you passed through there on a trip sometime.

That was a lot of fruit Mel, I have said before I am envious of your Bramleys.

A bit grey here at the moment but the mist is supposed to burn off later. Hair appointments today then Tewkesbury with the photographic group. OH at golf at the moment and washing in.

At last and much too late I have got to the last page with the posts the right way around.

I don't like it when you click on post date.

I have been very busy today. Firs the library and then lunch and then I went up the top field and picked plums, cooking apples and blackberries. I had a 1lb of berries. Think I may make a little brimble jelly with those so we can enjoy it through the winter and good vit C.

I gave a load of apples to Em but she was out with the boys so the builder let me in as he was replacing the window cills before rendering the whole bungalow. Its going to look nice as the had had slate sill put in.

Hi all

Well I have got back in to the site with no problems at all but let's see what happens when I try to post this.

AnninG, your day out at Ledbury sounds interesting. From your description it sounds familiar so I am wondering if I have been there sometime in the past.

Pippyn, it's good that you enjoyed the meal and the conversation. I am not too keen on aubergine so I don't think the meal would have been to my taste but I'd have enjoyed the chat. The nice thing about talking politics with friends is that you can argue and still be friends at the end. Well done to your granddaughter on her good results. Youngsters sometimes get such a bad press but, as you say, many of them work really hard.

Jane, you and Pippyn are absolutely right about people and their phones. It drives me mad when I see people ignoring their children while they are busy on their phones. We meet friends for coffee in a pub once or twice a week and it is sometimes downright dangerous with little children ignored by their parents and running around while people are moving about with hot coffee and tea. I am sure one day there will be an accident and a child will be scalded.

Good luck with finding Ros the bracelet she wants Frank. You are very good to keep hunting for the right one. I hope your aches and pains are a bit easier now and you get a better night's sleep.

Mandy, how did your meeting with the police go?

I went into town early this morning as I needed to shop for a birthday present and several cards. I'm not clever enough to make my own as a lot of you do. Then I had an appointment for a haircut at 10.30. This replaced the appointment I forgot about last week. After that coffee with our friends, then back through the market where I bought some veg and some beautiful peaches. I've had them from this stall before. They are large and juicy and full of flavour; just like the ones you get in France or Italy. They are £2 for 5, so very reasonable. After that it was a stop at the garden centre for compost and some grit and home for a late lunch.

This afternoon I had a phone call from my eldest granddaughter, telling me that she didn't think the bank would accept a cheque I recently sent her. When I asked why not she told me that I had put one amount in figures and a different amount in words :-S. How on earth did I do that? I think I get dafter as I get older.

Well, I had better try posting this and see what happens. I'll probably get the error message when I press submit and then find it has posted anyway - probably 3 times!
