I've been getting the error page ever since I posted yesterday and now I can't get to the end of the thread.

I'm so sorry to hear about your pool being slashed again Mandy. That was nice of your neighbour to point their camera towards your garden I hope it helps and they are finally caught. Lot of good ideas of how to put them off or catch them if they come again. I hope there's no more damage. When we had similar problems the police advised us to buy some Pyracantha's they have two inch thorns on them and climb, maybe you could buy some and put them up against the wall, you're not allowed to put anything that might hurt someone which isn't a plant, so be careful or you could end up in trouble, not them.

Have you tried tightening the screw then unscrewing it Frank, that is suppose to loosen rusted screws, it might be worth a try. Hope you're not so achy now.

Have you managed to finish your bracelet now Ann, I'd love to see a pic if you take one. Yes I have a lot of people between OH's and my trees, but after 15 years or so at building it, it soon adds up.

Emmerdale's coming on now so I'll be off to watch it. I hope this post goes through okay and no one has the error page tomorrow.

Aha you didn’t want to be left out Vera with the error message.

Jane yes Ledbury is lovely sort of old fashioned in a nice way with lots of nice cafes and restaurants, the only chain cafe I saw was Coffee 1, no costa, cafe Nero etc. Didn’t see any wicker baskets. Was very impressed by the two lovely looking butchers shops and a greengrocers, a couple of charity shops and a real old type iron monger.

Magpye Report 22 Aug 2019 18:23

Jane I so agree with you! When We were shopping today we saw mothers wheeling their babies, and guess what they were all on their phones!! What about talking to their baby like I'm sure you did and I certainly did!! No wonder children go to nursery and even proper school hardly able to string two words together, some not even potty trained, or even able to hold a spoon properly!!! Grrr!! We too had a lively debating society at school, which certainly helped us to have 'opinions'!!
My OH is quite gregarious and loves to chat to anyone really! That can be embarrassing the other way round!! Our young people sometimes call him The Ancient Mariner!!! as he does have a habit of ' stopping one in three'!!
Yes it is Aubergine!! and they were lovely!!
G.D got A for Maths and English Language.B's and C's for the rest, except Spanish!! Sorry, I'm going on, but I'm so chuffed for her!!
OH is making a curry, better put the rice on!!

I forgot to say Pippyn Congrats to your Grandaughter for doing so well in her GCSEs. She did really well there . Shame about her Spanish but as you say she has 2 other Lanquages . Well done to her :-D

Waves to Jane 3 times ~~~~~~~~~

I kept trying to submit the post and kept getting the error message. I checked the post hadn’t loaded anyway, then I emailed support, came back and found the post was there 3 times. Grrrr :-|

Jane Report 22 Aug 2019 17:54

I'm here Mel :-D Got on no bother at all but I expect to get the error message once I press submit. Bit it always does go through

You food won't be wasted then Frank if you can send some back with Harvey later for Lewis. I bet the house smells lovely with all that has been cooking :-D. I hope you manage to find a Bracelet when you go the the Antique place.

It sounded a good evening Pippyn :-D :-D Egg Plant(Augergine? ) I would have enjoyed that dish. You saying about lively discussions amd me think about Debating Societies that we had i schools.. The more I think about it now I think it would be good for all senior schools to have them just to get students'talking' about various issues . Get them off their phones and social media . No-one talks to anyone these days and I think it is such a shame. Wherever you look everyone is looking down at a phone where it be walking along the road,on a bus/train/ or at a bustop . Now I am one of those people who is happy to talk to anyone. I love it . Chris cringes sometimes especially when we are on holiday maybe having a drink at a cafe /bar and someone starts chatting to us. I find it a bit embarrassing sometimes as he may hardly say a word :-S. But he is a shy person whilst I am totally the opposite.. They say opposites attract .It happened to us. :-D

Ledbury is a lovely place isn't it AnnG. Lots of people doing shopping with wicker baskets I seem to remember. You had a very interesting day .

I have had my hair cut this afternoon and when I got home we popped down 2 doors to neighbours to see their new patio and revamped back garden. It looks so good. Norma was 79 yesterday and it was a bitter sweet day as she had to go t oan old friends funeral. Colin is 80 and has Parkinsons now but it is fairly good fettle. We took Norma a bottle of Red Wine as a little late Birthday gift and then we sat out and had a glass of Prosecco ,Colin had a Beer. It was very cloudy though and breezy too.In fact we have had no sun today at all. A bit disappointing really .
Tomorrow might be a lot sunnier.(lets hope so )

I’ve had no trouble getting on but haven’t had time to write a post. Will try to come back later. The only thing I did wonder is whether the people getting most error messages are those that stay logged in. I always log out when I have finished and log back on next time and I never seem to have trouble getting in. I occasionally get the error message when a page or post is very slow to load. I think it must time out.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 22 Aug 2019 16:34

Afternoon all. We are just back from a day out in Ledbury with some of our U3A friends. Years since we were last there and OH doesn't even remember going there. It is a very busy town with lots of black and white buildings The lady who organised the trip had printed of some information about various places so we were able to learn about when they were built and what the building originally were. There is a very attractive black and white market hall supposedly the best in the country. and a house now used as a sort of visitor centre that has a 'painted room' upstairs which we were able to see. The walls are covered in paintings done in the 16th century. The paintings were uncovered when the place was being refurbished. when I have downloaded and have time I will put some photos on the blog. We also went into two other buildings both museums now but one was a 19th century school, the other is a house that was moved from the high street to its present position in a little lane that leads to the church.
We had a very nice lunch in one of the pubs in the town. I had a very tasty cottage pie made with Hereford beef and OH had a homemade Beef, vegetable and Ale pie and chips. Really tasty.
So no meal to cook tonight.

Frank

Frank Report 22 Aug 2019 14:58

Afternoon all,

Couldn't get on here this morning, no matter what I tried. I did let Mel know that we were O.K. I don't want you worrying.

I sat in the car for a good half hour Jane, It was at SIXFIELDS by Matalan . I don't like to sit in the car with the engine running, and me in the passenger seat. You never know who's around, that might take a chance to pinch car, with an OLD PERSON in it. LOL

Another bad night. I was clock watching from 3.45 am and did everything possible to get to sleep. By 8.00 am I had had enough and got up. For whatever reason, Ros followed me out soon after.

I tried to refit the hook to the fence that keeps the conservatory door open. The screws were so rusted in, that even taking a HAMMER to them I just could not move them. I put a load of "NO NAILS" on the back of the hook plate, but no joy. So next time Ros goes to B & Q she will have to buy another one.

With all the bending and stretching, I didn't do my back and shoulders any good, and have been in pain ever since.

Haven't heard from Harvey about if he needs a meal tonight, and if Lewis in coming with him. So I have done a casserole of shin of beef, made TWO SHEEP S@@@ pies, for either tonight if anyone wants it. If not, Lewis can have them while Harvey is in France. He goes tomorrow. I try to think ahead regarding Lewis, as I know he will just buy JUNK FOOD when he's not working. Loads of SPUDS done, Runner Beans, Broard Beans and Cabbage. If they don't come for a meal I will put the excess Veg in the fridge for tomorrow.

I see you still talk about "MY WHITE FRIEND| when referring to the loo. lol lol I didn't think it would stick.

Ros is down the boarder chopping down the Globe Thistles, which have grown so large this year, for whatever reason, they are drooped over the lawn.

Still no luck with the Bracelet, so will go to the Antique place in Brackley over the weekend, to see what they have. It's a big warehouse with dozens of small outlets. You can buy virtually anything Antique. It will take a good couple of hours to get around, so I hope there are plenty of seats around, to rest up on.

There are some good suggestions coming your way Mandy, lets hope something will work for you. Good luck xxx

I made Ros a COT an hour ago, and it still sits on the patio table. Harvey has just rung to say he won't want a meal tonight and that Lewis is working until 8.00 pm, so will cook for them both, later. He says he will be here after 5.00 pm. So I will hold up our meal till after he goes home.

Going to see if I can get a few zzzz. See you later. I started this post ages ago, and forgot about it with the phone calls etc.

We weren't worried about the meal Mel, as the 'cook' is first class!! It was the political conversation that I was a bit concerned about ( OH loves it!!) but it was fine! They are vegetarians so it was a vegetarian meal called Baked Eggplant (!!) with mushroom and tomato sauce! with crusty bread and It was absolutely delicious. Pudding was Apple Strudel with cream, then biscuits and cheese to finish off.
Just had younger granddaughter on the phone to tell us that she's passed 8 out of 9 GCSE's with top three grades! We feel SO proud of her, and she, of course is delighted! The only one she got D for was Spanish, but as she has French and German under her belt we're not that fussed! We didn't talk for long as she was just off to work and didn't want to be late! Goodness young people certainly do work hard these days as they all seem to have holiday jobs from the age of about 14!!!!
Bit of a miserable afternoon so we're lazing about after all our activity and preparing for a hot weekend!! :-D

Well it dos'nt look like anyone has been able to get on here today apart from me and I have had trouble getting back on here.

Been to the library and Julie gave me more talking books that arn't on the van. A lady in Sheepwash who is partialy sighted give her the cd's but she can't put them on the van with labels on them so she lends them to me and I give them back when I have read them. I don't have to pay for these so its good in a way. This lady likes the stories I like so they are all my kind of thing.

Morning Pippyn and all,

Grey skies here today but its not raining so thats a bonus.

Pippyn it sounds like you enjoyed your evening conversation and the meal so not as bad as you expeted it to be. what was the food?

I have Library thismorning and I must'nt forget this week as I didlast time it came. I had to go to the village to change my books.

I still can't get over Mandy's pool being slashed again and have been thinking about it all the time since she posted.

Hope you all had a good nights sleep and that Frank is'nt so achey this morning.

How was your night Vera?

Magpye

Magpye Report 22 Aug 2019 09:44

Well as expected it was a lively evening!! OH was in his element as he loves conversation he can get his teeth into!! He says it takes him back to his student days when political conversation was a way of life!! I must admit to enjoying it too as it's good to be able to air your views, particularly amongst long standing friends! Mind you as a family we're not backward in coming forward, particularly our young people!!
so it wasn't too alien!! Anyhow the food was excellent, the conversation interesting, and the world is now a better place!!!? Sadly not, but we live in hopes!
Today is shopping, yuk! but has to be done,so better get on as OH apparently is ready to go!!

Annx Report 21 Aug 2019 22:43

Evening All,

I just can't believe they had the nerve to come back and have another go at your pool Mandy. :-0 You'd think they'd be afraid to do that so soon! Are they coming over your wall from the road? Maybe some of that burglar proof paint that never dries painted on the top of the wall would put them off? Maybe the Police have an officer who visits to give security advice? I know we used to have one, but with the cuts I'm not sure if we still have. I thought the tin cans were a good idea as Max might hear that and start barking. The security lights should put them off, we need one round the back. You must almost be afraid of what you might find in the morning now. :-S

Jane, I couldn't decide whether I was brave or foolish!! My spare pants were wrapped up in a pair of black trousers! lol. I had a bowl, loo roll and big plastic bag in the boot as well, so I was prepared for the worst! I said to OH that if we all had to give up our cars there's no way you could travel if slightly 'iffy' . :-S I think it finally stopped at lunchtime today, so we risked a trip to B&Q for some small screws and rawlplugs later this afternoon, as I want to put some pictures up in the hall.

Gill your tree is massive so you have done very well with it!! We have the same trouble as you with our bathroom ceiling. It has paint flaking off it now and needs repainting. I think it's the 2, even 4 showers some hot days and OH's baths on top of that with the water so hot that makes a lot of dampness in ours. I think if the window had both halves openable it would help.

Vera, I must admit to cringing at 4 toilets to clean! Last week we saw a nice 4 bed bungalow for sale near here and that had 2 en suites, a bathroom and hall toilet and my first thought was 4 lots of toilets to clean, but in a bungalow, you could have a guest one that you needn't use yourselves.

I'd better get to bed now and catch up with the rest of the posts tomorrow.
