Got on here at lst. I had to report the Error Page as I just could'nt get on this morning after my first post and I forgot to wish AnnG Happy Birthday which is what I wanted to do.
<3 <3 <3 HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNG <3 <3 <3 Hope you had a lovely time around the craft shop as I bet you did. When you said you had a heavy parcel I thought it may be wine as mum used to buy it like that sometimes.
Glad you liked my card.
I hope James got on ok today. Sending love. <3
I have grown a few beetroot this year in a big pot. I grow the long ones as I get a nice lot then. Oh likes his without vinegar but I like Jane love it soaked in vinegar and maybe a little pepper on it. I love skinning them too just topping and tailing them and a good sqeeze and they are done.
Frank I think most of us have gone to appointments on the wrong day. Mine was at the dentists I was a week early so had to do two trips to Torrington. Good luck tomorrow if your usual nurse is away. Hope the one you get will be gentle with you.

As son gave OH gin etc I did ask him if he wa turning us into alcoholics. It is because he likes to order things on line and get them delivered to us and seems to have more money than sense lol! Good of him though and his presents do intrigue.

Oh I missed your post as I took a while to send mine AnnG. I'm glad your internet is ok now and that you had a nice day and got some things from the craft shop and had a nice meal too. I see the parcel had a nice supply of wine too, so you will no doubt be trying some of that! :-)

Oh Gill what a lot of rain you had! It sounds like what we had when it was lying in puddles on the gravel and running down the road like a stream. I hope it's soaked away now. You also have lots of noise happening around you like us. I wonder how long it will take before they move on. Judging by the bath in the skip opposite they are having a new bathroom fitted and the man is having a job to squeeze his van on the front with the workmen's 2 vans and his own car. Another skip was being delivered to Jean's old bungalow next door to them first thing this morning. They seem to be working indoors now so it is quieter, but it looks like they are doing something else as well with the skip being needed.
I hope your internet gets fixed Ann and that you now know what was in that heavy parcel. I expect you came home today with some new things for your card making.
Jane I hope it wasn't too bad a meeting for James today and that they will give him a good reference. He seemed to really like it there when he started as well, but that was quite a while ago. How well you are doing after your hip being done with everyone very pleased with your progress. :-D :-D I bet it was great to be driving again as well. I bet you will be off to Rushton Lakes soon!
I used to grow and boil beetroot till a few years ago Vera. I've also roasted them a couple of times. Are you pickling yours? I used to do jars and jars of them and end up red-handed!!
Fancy getting the day wrong for your injection Frank and after the effort of walking there too. Still I know I have done it before too so can't say anything. You feel so silly when you realise though.
We have just done a few jobs today, then went to look at a couple of churches, one where some of the soldiers in the Battle of Bosworth were buried and one in the next village. Both were unlocked which was good as most aren't these days. We saw another big wooden parish chest at one that had 3 locks on it so 3 people had to be present to unlock it. We had never seen these chests in churches before and now we see 2 in a couple of months.
I wonder if Mel has remembered all her shopping? I get worse and forget to put things on my list now.
OH is calling so a bit of telly for me now.

Hi all Wifibwas back when we got home so we have cancelled the replacement router. It was obviously caused by Virgin as we suspected.
As I said thank you for all the good wishes and all your cards. We were lucky with the weather it was lovely and sunny all the time we were in Evesham and had been dry here too. I had a very good day. Managed to spend £75 in Crafters’ Companion which is a great craft shop so bought lots of dies, plenty to keep me occupied.. we then had a nice lunch in the Beefeater. I had sirloin steak, chips, tomato and mushroom and OH had his favourite haddock and chips then we shared a chocolate brownie and ice crea.
Hope James is ok Jane. Gill yes thanks for the card it arrived ok as they all did. Mel that was a beautifully worked card. :-) oh yes the big box contained 16 375 ml bottles of good Frenchbwine. Should last us a while!

Afternoon Everyone <3 <3 Happy Birthday Ann <3 <3 I hope the sun shone for you today in Evesham and you have had a lovely day out.
Frank, who's a silly billy then ,getting the day wrong for your injection .I think we have all done that at some time or other. I know I have many times :-S. It is either the Dentist or Hairdresser.
Gosh Gill you have had a lot of rain !!!. I dont think we had any yesterday or last night. That is a good idea to wrap your hand with a bandage. You dont need a whopping blister on your palm.
Mandy I thought Chelesa was away ..or was that Lacey? I do get muddled with your girls sometimes. I think Janice is having most of her Grandchildren a lot at the moment.I know she is so tired at the end of the days. They do always make sure though that Sundays are a children free day. It's important that they have some time on their own and do the things they want to .
How are the Beetroots Vera? I think I have only roasted Beetroot . Baby ones . I do like Beetroot but only if they are nice and vinegary :-D
I had my Physio appointment this morning and he said I was top of the scale recovery wise. That made my day :-D I have one more excercise to do. When we got home I went for my first drive :-D. Chris did come with me Frank although I said he needed. I was fine and had no trouble moving my foot from the accelerator to the brake especially when I did the emergency stop :-D :-D So from now on I will be driving solo.
I have not heard anything from James. I think the meeting was at 3. I am dreading him coming through the door really . In a way I just want him to leave that bloody place right now(pardon the swearing). I'll let you all know later what is happening.

Afternoon all,
Sorry I forgot to say "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" AnninG. I hope you have had a restful and happy day. Have you any plans for this evening, ?? if you have I hope you enjoy it. xxx
What am I like.?? I walked to the Drs. for my injection. They have a machine on the entrance wall where you sign in. I went through all the motions, and ir said "Can't sign you in, go to reception" The receptionist took my name etc and went on her computer. It's not today Frank ,It's tomorrow, and I can't get anybody to do it today, as we don't have a nurse on duty. So I had a wasted journey. There and back without a break, has taken it out of me. I seem very weak on my legs, and having trouble, I keep stumbling. So I am taking things a bit carefully, getting around.
Ros rang just as I got in. Carolyn hadn't arrived to meet her at the hospital. Nothing unusual about that. She is always late. If she says 10.30. You can bet it will be nearer 11.00. That's one of my PET HATES. I hate being late, and don't like people not coming when they say they WILL. JAN is one of the Worlds worse. We can all be ready, waiting to go out, and she will still doing her makeup or hair, and keeps us waiting ages.
This blooming computer keeps putting words in sentences, that I haven't typed. I just checked why I had typed, and found a word change. I wonder if that what happened the other day, when it said "I HOPE YOU DIE" instead of" I HOPE YOU DO" I must keep my eye on that.
Barry is here beavering away doing the lawns and edges. I have charged the trimmer so that's ready for him to do the bushes. He certainly makes my life easier, even though I have to pay him. lol lol
I had the error page earlier, so didn't bother. When I just came back on it took me straight through to the thread.
Iffy sort of day. Very cloudy, and seems a lot cooler than yesterday, but I suppose it could be me, not feeling on top form.
I have mince the lamb and made a shepherds pie. Will have sweetheart cabbage, and Broad beans, for Ros also. I thought there would be enough to make Tony and Val one also, but looking at whats over in the dish, I don't think there will be. So they can't have one. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Did you do for your drive today Jane,?? did you take Chris with you, or did he stay at home in a safe place lol lol. Any news on James, have they finished him, or has he got to work to the end.If he has, his heart won't be in his job that's for sure. Give him my regards, and hope he get sorted very soon.
Barry has just finished. He went a bit over the hour so he charged £15.00 instead of his usual £12.50. Everywhere looks nice so I can't complain. He won't be here for 3 weeks as he is going away with his family, so I might try to do the lawns in between time.
No sign of Ros and Carolyn, so I assume they met up this morning, and are doing their thing.
Just noticed our Magnolia's are all out and look a real picture, which reminds me I must find out how I can transfer photo's from my camera to this MAC BOOK. Conrad can no doubt show me when he comes Thursday. That's if I remember to ask him.
Have a nice "REST OF THE DAY" this afternoon. I might be back later. xxxx

Thanks for birthday wishes. On my phone at the moment in Evesham. If I don’t appear on here for a while we have internet problems at home which won’t be fixed until Thursday which is a pain as it will delay us getting away for the weekend. That is life though isn’t it?

Morning all
What a shame about the rain Gill. We had a lot of heavy rain during the afternoon and evening yesterday but it looks as though it is going to be bright and sunny today. There’s a nip in the breeze though. My arms were quite chilly when I came in from hanging out the washing.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNinG. HAVE A LOVELY DAY <3 <3 <3 <3
You must be pleased to know you can drive again Jane. I hope it isn’t too traumatic a day for James. Sometimes horrible events turn out to be blessings in disguise. He might find work that takes him in a new direction that he really enjoys. Fingers crossed for him.
I think your family are just the right distance away Pippyn. Close enough for them to get to you or vice versa in an emergency but not so close that you live in each other’s pockets. My daughter is about 25 miles away but my son is around 210 miles and with all their commitments we sadly don’t see a lot of them, though we are a close family.
Talking of my son, tomorrow is the 3rd anniversary of his second marriage. Poor AnninG and Jane had to put up with me writing reams about the wedding on another thread. I can’t believe it was 3 years ago. The years roll by so fast now.
At the moment I am cooking beetroot that my daughter brought me from her garden. They are very large so I hope they won’t turn out to be “woody”. Then I think it will be a cup of tea before walking to the chemist to collect OH’s tablets. After that I ought to do some housework but I think I’ll try to do a bit more in the garden and leave the housework till tomorrow when the weather looks horrid.
See you all later :-)

Morning Frank and Mel, morning all
<3 <3 <3 <3 HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNG <3 <3 <3 <3
Have a great day, hope my card arrived on time. What was the big heavy present your son bought you?
Well, what can I say about the weather, we must of had a couple of cloud bursts in the night, there's water everywhere, the garden is flooded and the rain even got into the greenhouse as it went underneath from the patio. It's sunny now, but I don't think OH will chance doing the painting, I doubt he could do it anyway with all the surface water. I think it's going to take some time for it all to drain away. The plants would of loved it though. OH did paint the gate and bit of fence yesterday afternoon and luckily it dried before the rain came. It was suppose to be dry for two days according to the weather, but I guess they got it wrong. I hope it's not raining for your birthday AnnG and you have a nice time today.
OH and I were having a lovely sleep when we were woken up with banging from the workman doing up the house across the road, the gas people have joined in now, so it's not going to be a peaceful day.
How wonderful Jane that you can finally drive again, don't over do it though, just short trips until your body gets used to it again. Hope it isn't to long before Fitz can get into his car. You've done really well with your recovery. Hope all goes okay for James today, well, as good as it can do.
I won't need to put as many screws in for the actual screening, so as long as my arm is better I should be okay. I can always do one piece a day if I have to. The only reason I did so many last time was because I had two pieces of 16 foot plastic to put up which had to be done in one go with them being so big, it wasn't a job I could come back to and finish another day. So hopefully this time around I can stop if I need to. The screwdriver is one that turns easily so I don't have to twist it all the way around myself, it did give me the beginnings of a blister on the palm of my hand and no matter how many times I put a plaster on it kept coming off so in the end I put a bandage on my hand which worked. I did try putting gloves on but I couldn't feel what I was doing. I felt a bit silly with the bandage but it worked and stops the palm of my hand getting any worse.
OH's just come in after nipping to the shop and said next doors garden is worse for rain water than our, I've just taken a look and it's like a swimming pool, you can hardly see his grass just a tiny bit nearer his bungalow.
Going to get a cuppa, I haven't had one since I got up as I wanted to wish AnnG a happy birthday first. Hope it's drier where you are today, it looks like where going to have some more rain soon, so OH's definitely not doing the painting today.

Good morning to you all,
Good news on the driving front Jane, just be CAREFUL for the first few outings. The last thing we want to hear, is that you have had a BUMP. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Pippyn, That sound just right for family distance. It better than being just round the corner, and feel they must call in every day. As did my Mother. She would be standing in her lounge window, just at the time I come home from work. I felt I JUST HAD to call in. It made me late for my dinner, but whats the lesser of the two evils. ??? We don't see Lewis very often being that he's almost 21 and has a very busy social life, and works whenever he is not at University.
I hope everything goes well for James today. Nothing worse than leaving with a cloud over everything, and bad feelings. I hope his redundancy package is what he is expecting, if not there is always ACAS who can advise him.
Eos went to the black bin to throw something away, and lifted the baking tray out, that I had thrown away with the scones. She picked it up and just peeled the plastic off the tray, as it's perfect.
Madam has gone to have her nails done 9.30. then on to hospital for her water works treatment for 11.10 am. She will then meet up with Carolyn and do their normal Tuesday shopping trip. So I will see her as and when.
Barry rang at 7.30 this morning, to see if we want him to do the lawns this afternoon, and trim some bushes. I have put the trimmer on charge, so that will be ready for him, as and when.
I have my injections TODAY at 11.30. Louise is on holiday so I will have a different nurse, I hope she will be GENTLE with me, otherwise I will have a sore bot, as the injection is SO THICK and takes quite a time to administer. If it goes in too quickly, I always have a sore bottom. :-( :-( :-(
Not a good night again last night. My shoulders are very sore, and kept waking me up when I turned over. Then I laid, for what seemed like an age, before dropping off again.
Lovely bright sunny day here. The forecast said to make the most of it, as the week is going be rain again. So much for SUMMER. It looks like being the wettest August on record.
Shower still working, so I only need to have and get dressed. Have a good day, and be careful, especially our JANE ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) xxxx

Evening All,
My first OH had lots of tools. In our larger than usual garage he had a lathe, pillar drill, planer, crosscut saw and bandsaw, all of which were set in large aluminium tables. He also had a welder, angle grinder and lots drills and smaller things like sash cramps. He used to make his own chisels and sharpen them. He was very practical though and could make most things in wood or metal. Now we have a garage with lots of FIL's tools, some of which are so old we aren't sure what they were for.
Great news Jane!! :-D :-D I would pop and see Fitz in your car.......he will see there is light at the end of the tunnel so to speak. ;-) Next a bath then and you will be really feeling like your old self. I don't blame you hanging onto your crutch when you are out for a while. People tend to give you a wider berth then and you don't want anyone bumping into you, especially while the children are off school and racing round the supermarket. Two were flying down the aisles on those skate trainer things in our Sainsbury's this morning!! :-0
It will be a bit of an awkward day for James tomorrow with the meeting and not being sure when he will actually go. Personally I think once you know you are going it's best to go straightaway and get a PILON as we called them at work....payment in lieu of notice. If you have to work your notice then your heart isn't in it. I hope he can then get busy finding something else as he will have more time when he isn't working. At least his car is fixed which is good. Did you watch The Widower? It was 3 episodes and is still available I think. I thought it was good.
Gill I would have thought the gas people would still go round to your new neighbour anyway to check things, whether or not he's switched it on. Otherwise it could be dangerous for you and other neighbours if he switched it on without the checks ever being done.
I had a pretty drooping type of clematis years ago and lost it when I tried to dig it out. Now a few years later it has appeared in the original place and has popped out of the Camellia with a few flowers. I only tried to move it because it was too close to the Camellia, but it seems to be liking it there so I'll leave it now.

Our Grandson is 12 Jane and lives about 15 miles from us,so it's close enough but not too close ;-) ;-) our daughter lives about 30 miles, so more of an expedition! Now the girls are 19 and 16 we don't see so much of them as they're always busy with this and that! but we keep in touch by text and hopeful visits! :-) Well done with your progress! I can imagine that you'll be really pleased to be driving again. I hope tomorrow isn't too difficult for your son. It's a horrid thing thing to have happened, but when he looks back it may well be that it will actually have led him to better employment, hopefully. We like 'Keeping Faith' too, and 'Foyle's War' Frank, though they're now all repeats! Must reply to my SIL's email!
