Morning Mel, morning all

Lovely and sunny here today. OH has just been to have a word with the roofer over the road, one of our slate roof tiles slid off the roof the other night and needs putting back up, the roofer said he'd do it for us later as OH can't get on the roof to do it himself after his op.

I've just woken up from the best nights sleep in a long time. Mind you I only had a couple of hours sleep the night before so I was shattered last night. I do feel much better today so will take another look at OH's tree again. I managed to put around 40 people on it yesterday which I was very pleased with considering how tired I was, so I'm hoping to have another good day today.

Your meal sounds lovely Ann, it nice to go all out on your birthday and now you have all the healthy food to eat your bought on the way home. I tried to watch the moon programme last night but was so tired it didn't register, so I'll watch it again today, it might make more sense second time around.

I hope the red mark doesn't get any bigger Jane. I'd be tempted to put a cross next to it and play noughts and crossss lol that would sort out the boredom problem :-D :-D. Pleased to see Jorge got a clean bill of health from the vets, he does sound funny piling up the cushions and Janice's dressing gown. How is your swollen leg today, has it started to go down yet?

I see the swelling as gone down on your face a bit now Mel, hopefully when you see the dentist your mouth will feel better to. Your Lavender star is very pretty. Love the pic of the chicks, you got a good one there.

I wonder how Frank is today, hope you're feeling a little better Frank and you are back with us soon. <3

Morning all,

Another bright morning here Devon with blue sky and big white clouds.

I am pleased to say my face has gone down a lot this morning and my eye is'nt swollen either so that good but still have a bit of a sore mouth.

Not sure if I am shopping today or not it depends on if I can get my teeth in.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 15 Jul 2019 22:22

O I hope I sleep tonight AnnG. I have had another day without my top teeth in and now I seem to remember that I got something under the plate which really hurt at the time and I think it may have caused an ulcer or something. Still rinsing my mouth out through the day though.

Did'nt cook tonight. Oh had peanut butter sandwiches and two bananas and I had a scrambled egg and bread and butter.

Ann your main course sounded nice but I too would have stayed clear of the chilli if it was strong. I don't mind a bit but it lingers so in your mouth sometimes. I have done cubed roasties in the past with Rosemary and they are nice.

AnninGlos Report 15 Jul 2019 21:35

Mel you won’t sleep tonight now.

Annx your lunch sounded nice but like Mel I wanted to know what you had for your mains. Then I read your second post very much like tapas then? Nice!

Gill that was an early start this morning. I have to say that we didn’t have much success growing potatoes in containers.

Jane that is frustrating not being able to shower. I would say the infections must have started in the hospital. Most annoying hopefully they will both be stamped out soon

Grandson and his partner left us to go down to Somerset today to stay with her grandmother. She has her graduation for her masters to go to in Cornwall sonstaying with family on the way..

Annx Report 15 Jul 2019 21:03

That's a nuisance Jane, but hopefully it will heal now. You and Fitz seem to be following the same road! lol. Yes we did feel good buying healthy stuff. It's about time now though as I seem to have been practising for my birthday quite a bit just lately! :-0 That is another idea with the pots for the drive, but I don't think they would be easy to wheel over the block paving. I was looking at bollards that go up and down this morning!

Mel that was an interesting thing to do with Lavender and pretty to hang up somewhere. :-) We had the same for our main course, a dishful of garlic mushrooms, a dish with chicken breast strips in a tomato, oregano and basil sauce which was really tasty and a dish with tiny, cubed, roast potatoes with onions, olives, tomatoes and a little chilli which I avoided after the first taste!! I have been wool felting in the conservatory this afternoon and discovered the tower fan has packed up so I had to use another. It was still hot, even with all the windows and the doors open. The ceiling has blinds as do the sides as well. Fancy you nodding off and losing what day it is. OH had a snooze too.

Going to watch the moon prog now.

Evening All

No shower yet again for me :-| There is just one tiny bit that hasn't dried totally plus the skin is red around it which could be infection. The Nurse has drawn around the red and if the red spreads outside the marker then I must go back. Fitz has been given antibiotics as he def has an infection. What a pair we are. We both have another appointment for Thursday. Physio for me tomorrow.

Mel I hope the swelling is continuing to go down . Did you make a Dental appointment?

Happy Birthday to William today <3 I have put a little greeting on his FB.

Ann,it sounds like you both enjoyed your Birthday lunch today. Bet you felt good later buying plenty of healthy food :-D :-D. You have to spoil yourself a bit though for a Birthday meal don't you :-D..It is only once a year ;-)

I am so tired and feel ready for bed.It is daft as I havent really done much . But it seems the same around this time every night. Dinner won't be ready for another 45 mins either :-S

I was thinking about something else that could be an idea Ann for the end of your drive. Would a couple of really big pots on those bases with wheels be an idea? You would only need to wheel them to one side and back across(although it does mean getting out of the car )

I hope Frank is ok today and just taking things nice and easy. Thinking of you and missing you Frank <3

Jorge is being such a good boy.Jilly is still a bit of a madam sometimes but not a Diva :-D. Larry took Jorge to the Vets for a once over and a jab and he has a clear bill of health. (Not Albino) He has taken to collecting all the cushions and putting them in a heap.He even took Janice's dressing gown :-D

I am going to put my legs up on the settee for a bit.It is comfortable there.

Oh has just woken me up!! I threw myself on the bed next to him after my last post so I have had a good sleep. I thought it was tomorrow when I woke up and had been there on top of the bed all night.

Ann glad you liked the swallows and I will send a pic of the Lavender pentagon before it fades.

You told us what you had for starters and dessert but what was the main please?? It all sounded lovely?

Afternoon Buddies!

Sunny today and not too hot. The washer is whirring away and OH has been busy moving a couple of slabs to chock up with bricks in between to put behind the greenhouse to stand a water butt on. One is already in place one side, but this one was just put on the stand onto soil and inevitably listed to one side eventually. Strangely, the gutter pipe that led to it has vanished and perhaps took off elsewhere on a windy night! :-S He needs to see if there is any pipe left in the garage, otherwise it means a trip to B &Q.

We went to the Italian restaurant we went to for OH's birthday at lunchtime and had their offer of 3 different dishes you could choose from a list and started with cheesy garlic bread! For desert he had a type of rich bread and butter pudding and I had some chocolate disc biscuits with amaretto and chopped almond flakes in with pouring cream. We then rather reluctantly decided to get the supermarket shopping over and done with so came out laden with healthy, slimming things for us both to get back on track again. :-D

Mel, hopefully with your swelling going down the infection may be clearing up. Your lavender pentagon sounds interesting and you know we will want to see it! I did a bit more felting yesterday, a little picture, but it's nowhere near finished yet and I'm over halfway through my bracelet now. Thanks for the pic of the Swallows, it's a miracle they don't fall out of those precarious nests isn't it.

Gill I bet it feels lovely now that tooth has gone and everything is healing nicely. Gosh you have even more pots now then! I keep meaning to pop some radish seeds in a pot as one is empty as I haven't planted any sweet peas this year. Your family tree must be growing a lot lately with the contacts you are making. I must get back to mine soon and add more of the travellers!! They all had big families so it is a long job.Our drive is flat at the top, it's just the last 8 foot or so where it slopes down and where gates would need to go!! lol.

I hope Frank is feeling a bit better today. It does seem strange without him.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 15 Jul 2019 15:08

It is so quiet without our Franky Boy. I hope he feels better soon and can come back and join us.

At twenty past 1am last night one of the swallows shot out of the shed tweeting and flew into the dark. I was so worried and left a note for oh to check on the this morning. When I got up he said they were ok.

I have just been in the shed and there are four chicks in the nest. I'll send the two pics I managed to get.

Still not feeling like doing much but I did clean the bathroom this morning.

Have a great St Swinthens day.

Morning all,

Still got a sore mouth but my face is'nt as swollen today and the water bag under my left eye is almost gone. Whether it will come up again now my glasses are on I don't know but time will tell.

I made a Lavender pentagon yesterday afternoon just to see itf I could do it.

Morning all

I couldn't sleep so got up.

I got the error page again just now, I kept getting it yesterday and couldn't get on here at all. I pressed the post date today to get to the end of the thread as Genes kept giving me the error page.

I've been thinking about Frank and hope he's starting to feel a little better. It seem strange not seeing him on here, I hope he's back soon. That's the thing when one of us doesn't post, they're really missed.

I would love to put some veggies in pots Jane but unfortunately I don't have any room left with the other 500 pots I have and the greenhouse is full to. I do grow toms and of course Sandra's strawberries and I have an apple tree, but I'd love to grow potatoes and leaks. I tried to grow potatoes in pots but they were tiny so I think they would grow better in the ground. I love the photo and video of Jorge, it looks like he's really settling in, I'm sure he'll get used to the TV in time. I bet Janice was pleased he didn't have an accident in the night, good job she got up early to let him out or it might of been a different story. Pleased to see there's a sign to stop the HGV's parking now, that was quick, at least you can sleep better now. How is your leg today, has the swelling gone down?

Love the pics you sent Mel, I'll show them to Sandra when she wakes up, she'll be thrilled to see the Blackbirds and the little Robin to. Did the boys like the things your bought them? Wow that's a lot of strawberries, Sandra would be in her element if she had that many :-) How is your mouth today, you have my sympathy, I know how painful a sore mouth can be, lets hope the dentist can help you.

Enjoy your birthday meal today Ann, have you decided what you're having? It's sunny again here today, hope you have the nice weather to. £12,000 is a lot for gates I don't blame you for not wanting to pay out that much. Your drive sounds like our old one very steep. We lived at the top of a very big hill, it was so steep OH's handbrake cable broke on the car. Maybe a sign might help, you can only try and it would be a cheaper option. I hope you sort something out soon, before the trucks ruin your drive.

How are your ears after wearing your hearing aid AnnG. I bet you can't wait to have them sorted out so they fit properly. Did you have a nice time with your visitors?

How is your OH Vera, is he managing longer walks now? Do you walk with him, or does he go on his own? Hopefully he'll be able to manage a bit further each day, until he's fully recovered.

What a shame you had more cloud than sun yesterday Mandy. I hope the weather is warmer soon, so you can all go in the pool again.

Going to get a cuppa, then take look at OH's tree, I found another tree match the other day and noticed she has replied so I'll take a look at that in a minute. I recorded Poldark last night, so I might watch that later. OH is going to see his friend again today and Sandra has programmes she's recorded for herself, so I'll be able to watch it in peace as they don't like it.

AnninGlos Report 14 Jul 2019 16:09

Loved all the photos and the video today. Thanks Mel and Jane. Aren’t the deer beautiful and the baby blackbirds so cute. We have a large ceramic plant saucer on our patio table outside the lounge window. We put mealy worms in it. A couple of days ago I was sitting reading and looked up to see a female blackbird and a young blackbird just sitting in the saucer, the mum resting her beak on babie’s head. They sat there a good ten minutes before dropping to the ground then flying off. She was obviously giving it time to rest.

Jane Jorge was obviously enjoying a game with Jilly, it looks as though he will settle ok.

Mel I hope you can get that sorted quickly it sounds painful.

Annx have you got CCTV focused on your drive so you can see how many people use your drive to turn? If not it might be a good idea to get a camera.

Frank hoping you are reading this and hoping you will soon be feeling better.

Annx Report 14 Jul 2019 15:50

Afternoon All,

Dull and humid today and a bit cooler.

Gill, the only gate we could have would be like the sliding one at the bottom of the close that cost £12,000 which we aren't prepared to pay. Because the drive slopes down quite steeply to the road you couldn't open double gates inwards. You couldn't open them outwards onto the narrow road either as they would fill the road width. We thought about a chain and 2 posts a while ago, but there is still the palaver of getting out of your car twice each time you go out :-S

Jane that was quick work them putting signs up to stop the parking up! Jorge seems to have made himself at home quickly, but might be a bit full on for the smaller Jilly. I expect she will let him know if he is though. I would soon get fed up of strip washes too and flannels don't stay fresh long do they! Fingers crossed you will soon be able to have a nice shower.

That is a cracking photo of the mother deer and faun Mel, so graceful! The baby birds are growing up fast too. What a nuisance you seem to have an infection with that loose tooth. I hope you can get an appointment at the dentist's tomorrow. When my cheek swelled up that time some antibiotics sorted it out and it was ok then.

We went to our usual Sunday carvery, but no turkey again, so I think we will give them a miss on Sundays now. The young chef carving said it is usually on in the week so we'll try that instead. I got a new Beldray long handled pan and brush after at the factory shop as my old one is falling to bits now and the pan part is cracked. We popped in the co-op on the way home for milk and I couldn't believe how empty all the 'snack' shelves were. That's what happens when the cricket, tennis and grand prix are all on!!!

Did Chelsea enjoy the disco in her new dress Mandy? I have no idea what modern dancing young girls do these days or whether there are dance crazes like when I was young, I know there were regional variations and we didn't dance like they did on TOTP!! I'm sure no-one dances like OH either! :-D

I hope Frank is ok and knows we are thinking about him. <3 <3 It is horrid feeling down or depressed and not being able to shake it off.

So nice to see Jorge and Jilly playing. She will show him whats what in the house and garden and not to be frightened of the clothes line and TV.

I picked a 1lb and a quarter of strawberries this morning and the bantams had another nearlly 8 oz so I think thats about it now strawberry wise. there are still a couple on the plants but they need a good feed now. Some of the ones I have picked are small so they will go to a nice jar of jam.

Afternoon all,

More cloud than sun here today so no pool for the children today .

Frank i do hope your feeling a little better and you've managed to get a good nights sleep .

Oh Mel it sounds like you have a bit of an infection going on in your gum ,i hope you can get a dentist appointment tomorrow before it gets any worse and gives you a lot of pain.
Lovely photo of the deer,i love the one where they are looking straight at you , and baby black birds ,my how they have grown .

Jane that was good Jorge has had a good first night ,it probably helped having the other dogs as he's got use to being with others for company .
I expect he will be very weary of lots of things poor little chap but he'll soon settle in with lots of loving , i expect he was fed with other dogs so he didn't get enough ,some don't get a look in if there's several feeding together but with Janice he'll soon fatten up a bit .

Meatballs for us tonight :-D i always get the meatball song in my head when i do them :-D
