Love all the photo's AnnG, you're very good at taking them. Your garden is wonderful, I wish mine looked like that, it's very green at the moment with hardly any colour as we seem to have a break between flowers that have just died off and other's that haven't bloomed yet, so it's looking a bit boring right now. Hopefully in the next few weeks we'l have a bit more colour, but I doubt it'll look as good as your garden. You should be very proud of all your hard work. Sandra loves the Zoo pictures and enjoyed looking at them.

I'm really tired at the moment so I'm going to have a little sleep, I had a very late night last night and was up quite early this morning. OH is already asleep on the sofa and I think Sandra has fell asleep on her bed. Maybe it's the warm weather making us all so tired to.

Lake District photos on the blog. Either the blog or the PC were playing up so some of the photos loaded out of order and there is no way of moving them so I hope it is not too confusing..

Also garden photos from 1 July.

Hi all

Nice and sunny here. OH managed to drive me round the corner to collect the wood, not that there was much left after all the neighbours taking some, but it's better than nothing and will save us a bit of money, we'll still have to buy more wood to complete the job though. I don't think OH will be driving again for at least another week, we have a big car and I'm concerned he might end up doing to much to soon, he's cut the lawns today even though I said I'd do them, mind you that's just gentle walking up and down so he could probably managed that. He finishes his antibiotics today so hopefully his cough will go completely then, he's not coughing as much now so they're doing there job.

Just had a letter to say our gas is going to be cut off while new pipework is being laid, we're not sure when it's going to be yet, but they said they'd let us know. My only concern is that they may have to dig holes in our front garden and drive, so I hope they don't ruin all our hard work as the garden is starting to look nice now. Also they may want to move the gas meter outside. To be honest I wouldn't mind that so long as they don't damage the garden to much.

So you're off to a sports day today Mandy, I used to love watching my girls at their sports day, at least Lacey has the weather for it. I hope she does well and enjoys herself.

Hope you had a better nights sleep last night Jane. Just keep thinking each day is a day closer to being fit and well again. Maybe you could do a puzzle if you're bored that would keep you occupied for a while. How is Fitz doing, have you compared notes yet? lol ;-)

How did Winston get on at the vets Frank, you never said. I hope he was okay and there were no lasting effects. Hope the sun helps your bad shoulder and neck.

So you have a nice relaxing day today AnnG with no gardening to do. I've finished all my jobs for today to, so will be having another go at OH's tree, there's still lots to do, but I do enjoy it.

How is your OH today Vera, I hope he's still improving.

Going to get a cuppa now, I'm quite thirsty after moving all the wood.

Morning all,

Lovely day here with lots of sunshine ,we have Lacey's sports day this afternoon .

Ann I'm pleased you found what you wanted in Ali ,looking forward to see what you make today with them .

Jane nice to see you posting ,Colin hated the having to sleep on his back too and had very restless nights so he had sleeps in the day to make up for not sleeping at night .
He found he was tired after the op as just getting a strip wash and dressing took quite a while to do and took it out of him.
Hope Fitz is coming along nicely after his op.

Better get my jobs done before an early lunch and off to the sports ,I can hear them practising as I'm sitting out here in the garden.

Good morning all, Yes we have the yellow stuff also. and a nice clear blue sky, with NO breeze, so I expect it will get very warm later.

I couldn't be bothered to go to the pub last night. So sat in the conservatory and watched the football. The girls were very unlucky to lose, but overall the best team won. I hope tonights game is as good.

Jane it must be very difficult to stay on your back all night. I think we all turn over many times during the night, and don't even know we are doing it. As for boredom, theres not a lot you can do, other than do what you are doing. Can you get into the garden yet. ?? That would give you a break from the FOUR WALLS.

Pleased to hear Ann and Vera's OHs are making steady progress. It does seem a long haul for yours Vera. Slowly does it. lol lo.

Ros picked up her Antibiotics last night. I can't believe the dose. ONE TABLET PER DAY with food. She has SIX WEEKS SUPPLY. I have told her to check with the surgery, that this is correct, but she hasn't done so yet.

I have been watching a programme each morning called "ILL GOTTON GAINS" as you can imagine it relates to Criminals and their crimes. The sentences laid down by the courts are ludicrous, Eight years for £390,000.00 of drug dealing in cash, together with many Rolex watches, Mercedes car, top of the range Motor bike, and high living that you would never believe. MOAN OVER.

Ros, is just off to have her nails done, and get some liver for tonights dinner. She is also taking back a blind she bought at the RANGE. That doesn't fit.

Off for a shower and a sit in the sun. What a hard life. lol lol Perhaps getting a bit of sun on my back, will help to ease this horrible pain in my neck and shoulders.

See you later. xxxx

Morning all,

Hope everyone slept well last night. I had a job going to sleep last night but I did'nt get up for the loo for the first time in I don't know how many years.

We have a lovely bright sunny morning here without a cloud in the sky and the rees are hardly stirring. If it stays calm I shall clean the big girls out today as its hard to do when its windy cos the sawdust blows around and in your face.

Hope Jane is coping with sleeping on her back. How long does that have to go on for?

Ann I am no where near finishing my tree.

Did the hsopping with no messing about just there shop and back. Its been a lovely day here today with plenty of the yellow stuff and a bit of a breeze.

Saw two baby foxes squashed on the road to Bideford. I had the baby fox trying to get in the hog feeding station last night. He went through one of the bigger holes in the sheep netting and got a bit stuck the first time he did it. The second time I shot at it and it really got tied up in the wire but ran away so I only frightened it.

OH is feeling much better now Vera he said he only gets a few twinges every now and then. The antibiotics have almost done their job, he finishes them tomorrow, so all in all he's doing much better now. Even though your OH's improvements are slow he'll soon get there and be able to move around more freely as the days pass. He did well to make up the cage for your blueberries didn't he?

No Ann the neighbours next door are pensioners, so no baby. Maybe you're thinking of the other new neighbour over the road, she's just had a baby, but we don't see her much. We haven't seen much of next door either, although we've heard them talking in the back garden. We do say hello if we see each other in the front. I think he looks after his elderly mum, so is in and out most of the day. They're good names your OH came up with, Kim and Aggie, for your two neighbours, they do sound like nosey people looking at what everyone is up to though. Pleased to see your birthday card arrived okay.

Lovely to see you on here Jane. Sandra is pleased you like the card she made for you. Yes, she's in to Flamingo's in a big way at the moment, probably because they're pink. ;-) I'm sure you'll be able to concentrate soon, you've been through a lot lately and it'll take time for things to settle down. I hope you have a better nights sleep tonight. Happy birthday to Fitz, I hope he had a nice day, even if he probably can't do much. I'm sure he loved the bottle of wine Chris took to him.

Hope all went well with Winston when he went to the vet Frank and there's no lasting effects from his accident. Enjoy your time at the pub if you go.

Afternoon All,

A bit changeable here, sun then dull, cooler and a bit breezy, so the conservatory top windows have been flapping up and down like a bird's wings when we had lunch in there. We couldn't seem to get the temper

Good to hear from you Jane! :-D I wondered how the sleeping on your back would go and can imagine trying to turn when you are half asleep. It's good you are getting on with the crutches ok. I'm not surprised you are finding it hard to settle to anything just yet. I hope Fitz is doing well too and doing all his exercises too! That's good for Val that she is improving and will have a 6 week spell in a nursing home. I must say I wouldn't fancy Tony looking after me.

It sounds like you will soon be able to finish your tree Mel if all goes well. :-) Yes I was late to bed last night as I had made a mistake in the bracelet I'm making and had to undo quite a bit and wanted to know I'd got it right again before I left it to go to bed. Once you know there is a mistake you have to sort it as your eye is drawn to it every time you look. I meant to say that the necklace you made for your friend sounded lovely so no wonder she was chuffed with it. I have just finished packing my bag with material, sequins, ribbon, beads and buttons for tomorrow's class.

Mrs O and the newly retired lady next door to her seem to be out on the front all the time seeing what's going on when we come and go now which OH hates. When we got back the other day, he had to dash inside quickly as he needed the loo and the newly retired woman in the corner shouted across 'Isn't he speaking?' which really annoyed him when I told him. As they are both always out on the front cleaning or tidying something......he's come up with new names for them....... Kim and Aggie!! What is he like!! He had a blood test at the doctors' yesterday as they saw he was swollen a bit one side and bloated. The surgery rang back today and he has to have another blood test tomorrow as inflammation was showing on the previous one. He wasn't too keen as he hates needles, then he couldn't remember where the first needle went in and argued with me who remembered the cotton wool pad was to the outside of his arm. I don't think he was happy with the idea the hole would be bigger if they went in the same place again!! lol. His parting comment as he walked out of the kitchen was that he didn't know why we bothered to watch the tv prog GPs behind closed doors as we were living it!

I feel worn out now as I have hoovered and steam mopped the uti, kitchen, bathroom and en suite (with several sit down rests in between!). OH watered the pots and put the washing out and did some weeding first thing.

I seem to have been bitten on the side of my face so I better put some cream on and take an antihystamine. Some bites tend to get huge on me.

Vera It's good your OH is improving little by little and that he managed to put the blueberry cage together for you. I hope you enjoy your meet up with the ladies.

What are your garden sandpits Frank? I had visions of sand bunkers on a golf course. OH is watching the match at home. I hope little Winston gets a clean bill of health after his ordeal. :-0

I wish my OH was a dab hand at cleaning AnnG. He does put the washing out and fetch it in and does the ironing, but shoving the hoover where you can see is as much cleaning as he does. I don't have to do much cooking though and even eating at home he gets himself rolls and things on toast and makes me cups of tea when I want so I'm thankful for that.

Gill, a pretty pink envelope arrived today which must be yours, so OH has squirrelled it away till the day......thank you! <3 That was a mucky job you did with the rill, but at least the water can flow away better now. I hope your OH is getting less sore now. Do you see much of the new neighbours and did you say they have a baby?

Also pleased to see you made things move this morning, (we get all the best news on here :-().

The anaesthetic stays in your blood for quite a while sonthatvand not sleeping is probably what leads to you not being able to settle to anything. Best thing to read is probably magazines. Don’t start on war and peace just yet. And probably watching a lot of rubbish things on tv will help pass the time.

Afternoon Everyone

i have just woken up after nodding off during Wimbledon. I don't seeem to be able to concentrate on anything. Doing a crossword,,just a few minutes and then I have to stop. Its ridiculous. I think not having good is the likely cause. Having to sleep on my back all the time is a nightmare as I am forever rearranging the pillows to keep me lying straight. This morning was hilarious(well not really ). I had not been able to go to the loo since the day of the op.Nothing was helping so I sent Chris of to buy some Glycerine Suppositories and BINGO it worked :-D :-D

Thanks Ann for the card and a special thankyou to SANDRA for her lovely hand made card and picture of the flowers :-D <3 It made me smile to see a Flamingo. I think this should be Sandras special logo :-D :-D :-D

I am afraid I have not gone through all the posts. But I just see in Franks post Winston must have had something bad happento him? I do hope he is ok.

I am off now . Need ot do my excercises :-S Doing really well on the crutches :-D

It is Fitz's birthday today so Chris went down to see him this morning and took a bottle of wine.

Lol Vera, I thought you were going to say 'so he sat on a chair and frightened off all the birds' :-D :-D

It is good that he is able to walk a bit further each day but it must be frustrating for him (and you) that it is going on so long.
The strange thing with my OH is he is really only untidy with where he sits on the settee, he reads post and leaves it where he was sitting etc. There are still two boxed there from the two alexas that arrived two days ago. BUT the sweater has made its way to the laundry basket. In his office he is reasonably tidy although does have a habit of putting things away and never being able to remember where he put them.

On the other hand he is really good at cleaning the house, hoovering steaming the kitchen floor etc and doing the ironing, so I can't have it all.

It must be lovely having such a large extended family. Ours is fairly big and the cousins do keep in touch at Christmas but not the second cousins or children of first cousins whatever they are called. The internet is great for keeping in touch with the younger generation such as grandchildren, nieces and great nieces/nephews through their parents.

All nice and clean, now Gill. lol lol

Ros and Carolyn are back, Ros's bags were so HEAVY I almost pulled my arms out of joint carrying them. You would think she hadn't been shopping for a MONTH, and there is only the two of us. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Funny sort of afternoon, cloudy but warm. Slight breeze with t, not sure what the forecast is, so will have to wait and see.

How did your shopping go Mel, you didn't forget anything I hope, especially OH CIDER.

Hows our Jane today, ??I wonder if she is able to get about the house, un-attended. I know when Carolyn had hers done years ago, she was up and about in no time.

I am in two minds whether to go to the pub tonight, to watch the Lioness's play the U.S.A. in the Women's world cup. I can get Ros to drop me down between her Emmerdale's at 7,30 pm and pick me up after Judie Dench, on her travellers to BORNEO, that finishes at 10.00 pm. It will only be the 2nd time I have been down there since the new landlady, who use to be the barmaid.

Ros is doing a Stir Fry tonight, so no cooking for me. What a treat. !!!

Harvey was taking WINSTON to the vets last night for a check up after his near death experience. So will give him a call later to see how he got on.I wonder how Julia coped over the weekend, with the heat in Southern France. Mind you, she does love the sun. lol lol

I haven't shaved today, so I think I might do that now, it will save me a job in the morning. The shower has behaving itself, so fingers crossed it continues to do so.

Have a pleasant evening, and hope you are all well. xxx

SuffolkVera Report 2 Jul 2019 17:11

Hello everyone

It’s quite warm here today with alternating clouds and sunny spells. I managed to wash a very large cellular blanket and get it dry and I vacuumed right through the house. I iron the absolute minimum but I still have a great pile waiting to be done. It’s going to have to wait a bit longer.

Gill, you have been busy today. I hope you don’t ache too much. How is your OH today? Is he a bit less sore?

I hope Jane has had a comfortable night and is not feeling too sore. She and Fitz will have lots to chat about and will be racing each other to see who can walk without crutches first. Thinking of you Jane

Frank, I hope your aches and pains are easier now. Your round the world trip sounds fabulous. Your family are very special to do that for you and sort out your mortgage as well. I am always being told how unique my family is though I find it hard to believe. We have a big extended family with lots of cousins who have lots of children and grandchildren and every year we have a big family party. Everyone who can get there does so - there’s usually about 50 there. That’s the big social event but if any one needs help at any time someone in the family will be there to lend a hand. I guess I’m very lucky.

AnninG, lots of men seem to like their gadgets. OH isn’t bothered so we don’t have anything like Alexa or gadgets that turn things on and off or open curtains etc. He does love his computer though and spends hours writing programs. Our PC is getting a bit old and slow now so he is trying to persuade me that I need a new one, as he mostly uses his laptop. I know he will end up buying one for MY convenience and I will have all the hassle of getting to grips with a new system. And don’t get me started on his untidiness.....he can never find anything because he never puts anything away properly.

He is considerably better in himself and walking better, though only around the house. He can only do a short distance at a time before he has to sit so he wouldn’t even make it to the corner of the road. He also can’t stand for more than about 30 seconds. He didn’t think much of my patent bird scarer even though it did the job and kept the birds off my blueberries, so this morning he sat on a chair in the garden and managed to assemble the fruit cage and we got it over the blueberries.

I must rush and get dinner underway as I have to go out at 7.15. I belong to a local ladies’ group and I’ve missed the last 3 meetings so I want to get there tonight. It’s only a 2 minute walk down the road so if OH needs me he can phone and I can get home quickly.

I hope you all have a good night’s sleep.

Afternoon all

Bright and sunny here today. I've just spent the best part of 5 hours cleaning out the grill that goes around the back of our bungalow, it's to stop the rain water coming into the property but over the years it's filled up with soil and rubbish, the grill doesn't come off so I used an old spoon and pushed all the soil in the void underneath to a couple of openings, then used an old hoover and hoovered all the soil up, it's all done now so I'm going to have a bath and do a bit of washing, it should dry on the line as there's hours of daylight left and it's quite warm outside.

I'm not getting the wood today as OH's friend is busy at Chester Zoo, he has a glass company so is doing the glass that needs doing around the Zoo. He is also going to be putting the glass in where they had a fire last year, but I'm not sure when he's doing that. I rang him and he said to ring him at 9am tomorrow, so we can arrange another time for me to pick up the wood. To be honest I'm glad I'm not going today, I'm a bit achy with crouching down for hours, so once I've had my bath and sorted out the washing I'm going to sit down and relax, before sorting out dinner.

Hope everyone with aches and pains are feeling a bit better now and that Jane and Fitz are recovering okay.

Well, I'd better go before my bath goes cold.

Hoping Jane is ok and that she can pop in to speak to us soon. Heard yesterday that out Granddaughter-in-law is in hospital with an infection that they think is linked to an appendix op she had some time ago. She is on large doses of antibiotics, I wonder if that is to ward off sepsis.

we went to Dobbies this morning and had our two free cups of coffee. We had to take trip round the outskirts of Gloucester to get to the motorwar, some road works on a local road causing grid lock.

OH has gone to play 9 holes of golf so I had a bit of a tidy up in here so he can find a space for the Alexa he bought to improve my life in some way. I have a pot for ordinary pens and pencils which was full (actually there were two pots. I checke them all and must have thrown out 10 pens all stopped working/dried up. so down to one pot of pens and a small one for scissors and other tools.

I also dod a half hour pottering in the garden.
