Hello everyone

It’s quite warm here today with alternating clouds and sunny spells. I managed to wash a very large cellular blanket and get it dry and I vacuumed right through the house. I iron the absolute minimum but I still have a great pile waiting to be done. It’s going to have to wait a bit longer.

Gill, you have been busy today. I hope you don’t ache too much. How is your OH today? Is he a bit less sore?

I hope Jane has had a comfortable night and is not feeling too sore. She and Fitz will have lots to chat about and will be racing each other to see who can walk without crutches first. Thinking of you Jane

Frank, I hope your aches and pains are easier now. Your round the world trip sounds fabulous. Your family are very special to do that for you and sort out your mortgage as well. I am always being told how unique my family is though I find it hard to believe. We have a big extended family with lots of cousins who have lots of children and grandchildren and every year we have a big family party. Everyone who can get there does so - there’s usually about 50 there. That’s the big social event but if any one needs help at any time someone in the family will be there to lend a hand. I guess I’m very lucky.

AnninG, lots of men seem to like their gadgets. OH isn’t bothered so we don’t have anything like Alexa or gadgets that turn things on and off or open curtains etc. He does love his computer though and spends hours writing programs. Our PC is getting a bit old and slow now so he is trying to persuade me that I need a new one, as he mostly uses his laptop. I know he will end up buying one for MY convenience and I will have all the hassle of getting to grips with a new system. And don’t get me started on his untidiness.....he can never find anything because he never puts anything away properly.

He is considerably better in himself and walking better, though only around the house. He can only do a short distance at a time before he has to sit so he wouldn’t even make it to the corner of the road. He also can’t stand for more than about 30 seconds. He didn’t think much of my patent bird scarer even though it did the job and kept the birds off my blueberries, so this morning he sat on a chair in the garden and managed to assemble the fruit cage and we got it over the blueberries.

I must rush and get dinner underway as I have to go out at 7.15. I belong to a local ladies’ group and I’ve missed the last 3 meetings so I want to get there tonight. It’s only a 2 minute walk down the road so if OH needs me he can phone and I can get home quickly.

I hope you all have a good night’s sleep.

Afternoon all

Bright and sunny here today. I've just spent the best part of 5 hours cleaning out the grill that goes around the back of our bungalow, it's to stop the rain water coming into the property but over the years it's filled up with soil and rubbish, the grill doesn't come off so I used an old spoon and pushed all the soil in the void underneath to a couple of openings, then used an old hoover and hoovered all the soil up, it's all done now so I'm going to have a bath and do a bit of washing, it should dry on the line as there's hours of daylight left and it's quite warm outside.

I'm not getting the wood today as OH's friend is busy at Chester Zoo, he has a glass company so is doing the glass that needs doing around the Zoo. He is also going to be putting the glass in where they had a fire last year, but I'm not sure when he's doing that. I rang him and he said to ring him at 9am tomorrow, so we can arrange another time for me to pick up the wood. To be honest I'm glad I'm not going today, I'm a bit achy with crouching down for hours, so once I've had my bath and sorted out the washing I'm going to sit down and relax, before sorting out dinner.

Hope everyone with aches and pains are feeling a bit better now and that Jane and Fitz are recovering okay.

Well, I'd better go before my bath goes cold.

Hoping Jane is ok and that she can pop in to speak to us soon. Heard yesterday that out Granddaughter-in-law is in hospital with an infection that they think is linked to an appendix op she had some time ago. She is on large doses of antibiotics, I wonder if that is to ward off sepsis.

we went to Dobbies this morning and had our two free cups of coffee. We had to take trip round the outskirts of Gloucester to get to the motorwar, some road works on a local road causing grid lock.

OH has gone to play 9 holes of golf so I had a bit of a tidy up in here so he can find a space for the Alexa he bought to improve my life in some way. I have a pot for ordinary pens and pencils which was full (actually there were two pots. I checke them all and must have thrown out 10 pens all stopped working/dried up. so down to one pot of pens and a small one for scissors and other tools.

I also dod a half hour pottering in the garden.

Frank Report 2 Jul 2019 12:17

Morning Mel, We started off with nice sunshine and blue sky, now a fair bit of cloud around, and it's cooler.

Ros has been to see the Dr. She was only given THREE DAYS antibiotics by the hospital and the Dr. said she needs to be on them for WEEKS. So someone has made a right C@@k up, somewhere. She, the Dr. has prescribed TWO BOXS of them. She is also going to look into the treatment Ros had on her back, in 2015. To see if there is anything she can do with this constant pain she is getting in her back and left leg.

Carolyn and Ros have now gone to town. Ros wants to go to HOBY CRAFT for some things. Carolyn needs to go to about five places, So they are likely to be out most of the day. So a nice peaceful day for me. ;-) ;-) ;-) They will end up in Tesco getting the odd bits we need. Including my BEER. lol lol

Denis next door said he has seen the hedgehog going through the hole in the fence into our garden. Ros said YES,I know he's around, because of his "calling cards" poo up the drive. !!!

I'm relaxing with my book in the armchair, I have put loads of "BIO FREEZE" across my shoulders, which has now dried in, so I hope to get a bit of relief. ;-) ;-) :-( :-( :-(

Morning frank and all,

We have sunshine this morning and not much wind. Of course it had to be nice today as its shopping day.

Nothing much to report as I don't see anyone down here behind these walls only Di when she comes and the postie, Tim.

I did find a nice small pot yesterday and I also found the small bag of cement in the uti room so tomorrow I may put the can in the pot to see what this tree looks like.

Frank if you wash and throw out empty jars you desearve " GOLD STARS. <3

Frank Report 2 Jul 2019 10:24

Morning to all you MOONING MINNIES. lol lol Is it get onto OHs for his habits day. ??

I must say I am very good at throwing away almost empty jars etc, and writing them on the shopping list to be replaced. Sp I will give myself a STAR ;-) ;-)

Plugs are a problem in most homes. Everything is electric and very few wall sockets to plug them into. We have these bars of sockets, everywhere around the bungalow. With all the table lights, and gadgets, you need them.

I was watering the garden sandpits etc last night and tripped on the lawn edging. Manage to grab the side of the greenhouse, but jared my back and right leg. So not to comfortable this morning, even though I slept like a log last night. I even got back into bed at 7.00 am after the loo. Got up at 8.30 am

Ros has been trying to ring Carolyn, her phone is down. The builders are doing the electrics, and must have disconnected it. Eos has a Dr appointment 11.10 so will be late going out.

I heard from John my Nephew last night. He was asked to ring by my Niece Sue (FRANS MUM) to say she has had a fall and has broken her ankle in THREE PLACES. As she is so FRAIL (85) they won't operate, but will keep her strapped up or whatever they do. My sister is still the same, so not good down in Woodford Bridge.

Valerie next door is showing signs of improvement, and will shortly be transferred to a nursing home, for a MAXIMUM of SIX WEEKS. Then Tony will have to make other arrangements, or pay to keep her there. So I doubt he is a "HAPPY BUNNY". whatever the outcome.

How's our sick/ invalids today. ??All showing signs of improvement I hope. ;-) ;-) NO RUNNING ROUND THE GARDEN YET, JANE. <3 <3 <3

My tea is getting cold on the table, so I'm off, see you later.

I must thank Mandy as we popped into Aldi today and they had some of the fat quarters I want for making the hearts on Wednesday. :-D :-D there was a pack of blue/green shades which will go nicely in the bedroom. I've no idea what we else we need but I have found some ribbon and will root through the button box tomorrow. :-) The teacher will bring some materials for us to use. Of course you don't visit Aldi without buying lots more so we got some bargains while we were there. There a store we visited is a new one that only opened last year, but it is the one they are pulling down to build a much bigger one!

I hope everyone sleeps well tonight. :-)

Oh always tells me to keep the boxes things come in. We have a nice selection of kettle, tv, video things, the new strimmer, a vax carpet washer box and various others in the lounge. The new strimmer has packed up and I burnt the inside box that it was packed in. My oh has 12 pairs of glasses that he bought online which he leaves in places around the house and in the garage workshop so there are always a pair around if he needs them.

You know I said I made a mushroom in needle felt. I had it on the window sill in the spare bedroom and the sun has faded it one side!!

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 1 Jul 2019 20:48

Yes we have a TV in the lounge and one upstairs actually in my craft room but that is where OH watches sport when he isn’t watching it on his PC screen.

He used to be very tidy (RN trained) but he has got a bit more untidy the older he gets. He always sits on the settee and I sit in one of the armchairs, looking across at the settee there is acsweater that has been there two days, two pairs of glasses and their cases, a newspaper, a TV paper, a new TV licence plus the letter telling us we are going to have to pay and two boxes that the latest Alexas came in this morning.

Annx Report 1 Jul 2019 20:17

Gosh you do make a lot of cards AnnG! It's nice that they are personal and you must be good at thinking up different designs. It's just an annoying cough then and they are always worse at night. Has he tried a drop of honey with lemon juice diluted in water? I take some to bed when I have a cough and a sip or two seems to work. It must drive you both mad.....him trying not to cough and you anticipating the next bout!!

OH's annoying habit is getting nearly to the bottom of jars then putting them back in the cupboard!! Things like one pickled onion or gherkin or beetroot left or so little Piccalilli or jam you can see the glass bottom through it. I'm sure it;s so he doesn't have to deal with the empty jar!! He does throw out empty shampoo bottles and middles of loo rolls and never leaves clothes lying around. Loo rolls aren't a problem as I only use the en suite one!! lol His passion is books and the bookshelves have double rows of them now and we have neat /piles/pyramids of them on his bedside table and encroaching on my space in the study. The cheeky thing even slips some of his books or things like maps/NT Book onto my shelves to give himself more space. What are they like eh? Fortunately he isn't into gadgets that much. Sport he is into though and we have to have Sky Sports. I don't watch TV in the lounge most days as there is always sport on so it's a good job we have more than 1 telly.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Jul 2019 17:42

I know just what you mean AnnG. My oh got an Alexa which we had to find a socket for in the kitchen where I only have two sets of plugs and one for the cooker and kettle. I bought him one of those tower plug sockets which i s now down by the telly with loads of plugs in. These all come off of the one plug socket under my desk in the corner of the dining area. For Christmas he bought ME (bot that I wanted it) one of the big Echo's with a screen which gives you all the latest news and time and it also turns on the Christmas Lights/fly catcher, the table lights and the heating. When he has the alexa in his tudy I can call him on it too. Tools are his other passion and I think he now has just about every tool he could want but does he look after them???? no he leaves them in the rain where he last used them till they go rusty and I rescue them.

While I am on a moan...... why can't men throw away empty packet, bottles, and all the other things that run out and they get a new one out. Today I picked up two washing up bottles (empty) and an empty toilet roll in the bathroom. The bin is only a throw away so why not do it when it runs out.

Stripped the bed this afternoon and washed it all and now its on the line and hoovered and dusted so we have a nice clean bedroom tonight. Oh has been mowing all afternoon so have had the house to myself and could move around at my own pace resting in between sheets, pillow cases and and pillows. Oh has two pillows in one case as he likes a hard pillow. What a fight it is to get both in one case.

AnninGlos Report 1 Jul 2019 17:31

Annx I make loads of cards, for myself and also for somebody who sells them in aid of riding for the disabled. Just looking at July I have 10 friends and family to whom I send cards. I never buy shop cards. And at Christmas I make about 100 christmas cards.

although he is coughing, he feels fine in himself, just a bit tired from being kept awake by the cough. (him and me both). :-)

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 1 Jul 2019 17:22

*sigh* does anyone else have aOH who likes gadgets, anything electronic. My OH loves anything that 'does' things so we now have 4 Alexis things and one (deep Joy) specially for me in my craft room. so something else I have to learn so i can play music, answer the phone etc etc. And, of course I have had to fine a space for it. And now he wants a socket for it too. Notwithstanding that all the sockets are in use. Grrr. :-D

Oh and while I am in a moaning mood. I dislike any sport, that includes tennis. And I love Pointless, it makes me exercise what brain I have. Guess what is taken off to be replaced by tennis.
Maybe the BBC should rename BBC1 BBC Sports channel. :-(

What a fabulous, fabulous trip that was Frank! :-D :-D I had no idea you had been to all those places. It must have been so exciting going from one interesting place to another like that and you will have the memories for ever as Mel says. What great boys they are, especially paying your mortgage off after your stroke when paying these things would be a worry to you. All the other holidays too, as you say. I think they are 2 in a million!!

I hope you manage to get your wood ok Gill and it was sensible not to let your OH drive just yet till the wound has knitted together properly. He doesn't want another trip back to the hospital! My mum never set foot here in the 5 years we lived here before she died although she was invited. She was the same when I bought a new bungalow with my first OH. My Aunt visited mum and couldn't wait to be taken to see our new bungalow but even she couldn't persuade mum to come with us. She just liked to try to take the shine off things and spoil your happiness. if she could. Thank you and I'll keep a lookout for my card. I'd almost forgot about my birthday coming up!

Those lingering coughs are awful AnnG and can make you feel quite run down so I hope he starts getting better soon. Luckily you haven't caught it! Do you make many cards?

Oh I see AnnG, I do hope it clears soon for him, then you can both have a good nights sleep. It's not much fun when coughs linger.

Wow Frank, what a wonderful trip, I've not heard about it before, so you must of mentioned it before I joined you all. What a lovely thing for Conrad and Jan to do, you are so lucky to have family like that.

So mum is busy finding worms for the little ones Mel, how lovely. Looking forward to see the pic of the green moth if you send it.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 1 Jul 2019 14:39

Thanks for that Frank, I had not seen the details about your fabulous trip. Do you have it all in photos so that you can look back on it. How good they are to you.

Gill, no I don't think he has a chest infection, he is fine in himself (played 18 holes of golf this morning). It is just one of those summer coughs that hang on. We are both the same in that we try very hard to avoid antibiotics.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Jul 2019 14:34

With lots of love and understanding I would say Frank. What a wonderfull tim eyou had and no one can take your memories away they stay with you forever.

Di came and opened up her presents and the cheapest pone she liked the best. It was a little necklace with a dandylion seed set in resin and a little charm that said wish. She got me to put it on her straight away. She went off happy as Larry.

Hope Jane had a good night and she is managing today. Let Chris fetch and carry for you. You could tie a carrier bag to one of your crutches to put your kindle in or bit you need about you.

I had another of those beautiful green moths outside on one of my lights the other day. I took a pic so may send it later.

I have seen mum Blackbird searching for worms on the lawn behind the bungalow and she flies over towards the trees out the back and when I woke up this morning I could hear a baby calling and it seemed to be under the bedroom window where I have a mas of oxeyed daisies.
