I recall as a child in the cub scouts more than 60 years ago we stood in a circle and said Arkala, I promise to do my best, to do my duty, to God and and the the Queen.

Welcome Vera and join in any time you wish we all like to hear whats going on in different parts of the country. We are all good friends on here. Are you in Suffolk? if so what part? I used to live in Alphamstone on the Essex Suffolk border address was Suffolk though. Not far from Sudbury.
There is still some bits to do with the hen house. Oh has to make the pop hole safe along the sides where the house is next to the fence there's a gap which they may try to get through.
We wheeled the house around the back on a make shift axel of the weight lifing bar and two spare trailer wheels. When we got it to the block base oh then pushed it on gently with the digger but it caught on one of the blocks which push the fencing in so he had to lever the house up with a crowbar and I held it while he bashed the blocks back. Then I held the house on the crowbar till it was over the last two blocks and then it was ok. The doors were out of line though so he held the house up at the nest box end and I slipped a sliver of wood under and it lined the doors up a treat. One of the hinges on the door that opens against the fence has not been made right and it has a lovely creak which nothing seems to stop.

Lol Annx trying to remember my EO interview, can’t remember what the question was but I remember telling the interviewer that he was putting words in my mouth. In a local government interview a councillor asked me who would look after my children if they were sick. I pointed out he wa not allowed to ask that question but as he had, my husband would tske time off to look after them

Evening All,
Had a busy couple of days, but how busy you have been posting in the meantime!
Gill, you MUST see a dentist and soon and as Gwyn says, the doctor will only tell you to see a dentist if you see him! I don't want to scare you, but someone I worked with years ago neglected toothache and the infection under his tooth ate away along his jaw and he not only lost several teeth, he had to be careful not to knock his jawbone after as the infection had eaten into it and weakened it. A course of antibiotics may be all that's needed, but it won't be if you keep leaving it. I was so sorry to hear what happened with Michelle and her partner and the text you got. It must have been very upsetting and I bet Sandra had been so pleased to see her as well. I think you are wise not to mention anything to Sandra, there's no point upsetting her with things she just won't understand.
I had another load of trouble trying to get a blood glucose test done at the doctor's again this year! This is the 4th year I have had all this fuss!! I explained it all again to the receptionist when I booked the appointment, but I got a phone call the night before asking who had said I need one, the nurse wasn't happy and why did I need one if I wasn't diabetic. I think my answer to that one was to hopefully stop me becoming one!! They even said I would have to see a doctor before they could do it. I explained it all again, that the doctor at the Diabetes Research Centre said I should have an annual one etc etc, that my levels are a bit high, that the doctor at the surgery had put a note on my last test results to say I should continue with annual checks........had they not seen the note? More hanging on the phone for ages and eventually they found it.....no apology of course!! When I went for the blood test this morning I asked the nurse how could we prevent this annual fiasco as it was getting stressful now. She started making some excuse about there not being a note on the main page (is that the only one they look at?) and that I should speak to the IT man to get a flag put on the main page! (not my job really as a patient.......she should raise problems herself). I've decided to write to the Practice Manager instead as I think they should be made aware of things like this.
I also had to submit an objection to that warehouse planning application nearby as it was the last day today. Also to ring about the email problems with adverts constantly trying to load and the system grinding to a halt! Mine is fixed now and OH will get his done tomorrow. :-)
I filled up with fuel yesterday and the other side of the pumps in a car were 3 asian children, 2 boys, one in the front with the window down and one in the back and their little sister was also in the back. Their mother was paying and also buying things in the shop. I'd just got back in my car when all hell broke loose between the boys and they started nastily trying to knock 7 bells out of each other in the car and were knocking into the little girl. I was really close to their car so gave a loud blast on the horn and glared at them. Well that gave them such a shock they both jumped back into their seats and looked really sheepish as they realised all the other people filling up were now watching them as well! I risked it as I know from working with many asians that they expect good standards of behaviour from their children. If I had done it to white boys I would have probably got the 'f' word and fingers put up and they wouldn't have stopped.
That's good your son got the job Mandy! :-) Is he not doing building work anymore, or still keeping his hand in as well as this job. It will be much nicer inside in the winter than climbing on rooftops. OH gets given those tiny chairs to sit on at some of his meetings! I remember being nervous when I had my Civil Service interview, I was asked when I intended to start a family? They wouldn't be allowed to ask that now, but it would take 3 years to sufficiently train an officer before they were considered to be of use and it cost a lot, so they didn't want people leaving after a year or two.
I see the henhouse is moving in place for the girls Mel. Do you give your hen house a name at all? Ha ha......'Cluck Villa' or 'Eggs'r'Us'. :-D

Hallo everyone May I join in sometimes please? Reading through some of the posts recently I’ve thought what a nice thread it is, just chatting with friends.
Gill, I know everyone has been telling you the same but please get your tooth sorted. You don’t want to end up at A&E as an emergency. I had bad experiences with dentists when I was 6 and again when I was 12 and was terrified for years and years but things really are different now. Find a dentist, tell him or her how frightened you are and you will find they are very understanding and kind. Get your husband or a good friend to take you and stay with you.
Is Sandra still enjoying watching the birds?
I am so sorry that some of you have lost contact with your children. I can’t imagine how that must feel. Like Gwyn I am blessed with my son, daughter and grandchildren. Son lives in Yorkshire so we don’t see him much but he rings every couple of weeks and chats for an hour or so. Daughter is about a 45 minute drive away and leads a very busy life so we tend to text each other. Sometimes we text to make an appointment to talk on the phone which makes my friends laugh.
As this is my first post on here I had better not ramble on too long or you will be thinking what a daft old bat I am. :-D

Just a quick Hello, before getting a meal.It seems to be yet another 'Oh-so-busy' week.
I've had an enjoyable day helping with a primary school class visit to Canterbury. The children were so excited and very well behaved, as they always are. The weather was fair, -sunny at times, not too cold, no wind and best of all DRY. Last week I was wondering what on earth it would be like, so thank goodness there is much kinder weather now. I do like learning alongside the youngsters on these visits. I think Dover Castle will be my next visit with them, sometime.
Gill, I do hope you get something sorted soon for your teeth. I had trouble a few months ago and wasn't registered with a dentist. I went to see my GP , but was told I needed to see a dentist, so phoned one who has a good reputation locally and she fitted me in and prescribed antibiotics. Honestly, she was kindness itself and so understanding of my 'thing' about going to the dentist. They really are so much better nowadays at making one feel at ease.
Ann, I hope you enjoyed your Hampshire visit. I can imagine that a ferry ride to Gunwharf Quay would have been rather choppy and the alternative road journey is quite a trek. Lovely to catch up with your family and see how the young ones are growing.
I'm sorry to hear that so many of you have relationship problems within your families. It's very sad when that happens. I can't begin to think how much I would miss being in contact with my children. I see them frequently, but we don't live in each other's pocket. Naturally they have their own lives to lead, but we also share times either at home or socially, perhaps at a quiz night together. I'm very blessed.

Have to found a DENTIST Gill ?? if not WHY NOT. !!! Please my love, get it sorted, you will feel so much better afterwards. xxx
I used the new mower this morning to do the front lawn. It doesn't seem to cut as good as my old one, even though I have it on the lowest setting. But at least it looks alright. Now I have to think about tackling the BACK LAWN.
I have Lamb steaks for tonight's dinner, Roast potatoes, Cauli and Broc, Carrots and Brussels. Treacle tart for afters for Ros. I don't tend to eat sweets.
Ros feels like a lazy day today, so I said Well don't do anything. !! She was very busy yesterday in the garden. She has a nail appointment at 2.30 pm today. So she had better see about setting off shortly. Carolyn is going with her tomorrow for the check up on her heart. So fingers crossed everything is tickety= Boo. She has been making YET another necklace this morning. The necklace rack in the bedroom is almost falling over with the weight of all she has got on it. lol lol
The sun is trying to break through, with not a lot of success, with all the cloud up there.
AnninG, Both Mel and I did nothing for our children to stop making contact. My daughter, borrowed money from a FRIEND of mine, without my KNOWLEDGE. and did't repay it. I of course was very upset and told her so. So if that is her reason for NO CONTACT. It's down to her. Fortunately I have Ros's two boys, who I adopted when we married 40 years ago. I couldn't ask for better relationships if I had to choose. Plus the fact, I had my OWN SON Simon, come back into my life last year and have become very close. Never a week goes by that we don't phone each other.
Gill that's very bad of the builders stacking the skip that high. The chances are the Company will refuse to take it away if it's that overloaded. There is a line on the skip that shows how much you can put in them. I would have thought it would be dangerous to transport a load as big as that, it could easily blow off.
Your Daughter sounds she is in charge of her relationship with both You and OH as well as her partner. He will rule the day. !!!
So the new HEN house is in situ Mel, I bet the girls will think they are in a palace. !! lol
I feel I should start on the back lawn, but I am not sure my back feels up to it. So might be better to leave it till tomorrow, they say the weather is staying dry and fine.

I remember how my parents, my 2 brothers and myself lived in rented accommodation being the top floor of a terraced house. The sleeping quarters and the living room were together smaller than this bungalow. I am grateful.

Afternoon all. Had half a good nights sleep then the last half I kept waking up so tired today. Not helped by having just done the weekly shop followed by a visit to B7Q and preceded by a visit to our local domestic appliances 'shop'. Bought a new washing machine that will be delivered next Tuesday. So just put a wash in the current machine and hope it keeps going. It is quarter way across the kitchen as OH is going to move the electric plug once this load is finished.
Your girls will soon be in their new home then Mel? How sad to have lost contact with your son Mel. I can't imagine how it must feel. we don't see a lot of our son but he is always in contact and always concerned about us. Plus I am in contact with our daughter in law via facebook. And always chatting to our daughter either by e mail or FB.
Gill yes the flowers at Hidcote were very pretty. I must get the photos onto my blog today.
We will all be pleased to hear that you have made a dentists appointment gill.
:-) :-)
