Ha Ha !! me Big Ted :-D :-D Rather that than a shadow of a man. Thanks for your help Ann.
Just had a phone call from Janice. They want to give the new car a run and will be coming here for lunch tomorrow. Fitz is coming for lunch too so it will be a lovely get together. I now need to go tomorrow to get more food bits. Can't wait to see Janice.I haven't seen her since the wedding.

AnnG . Chris did it for me. Ann had tried to help but there was a problem with the pic of Thomas and it just would not load. So we weren't doing anything wrong !!. I will stay as Big Ted now I think :-D At least for a while.

I watched Baptiste this morning on my laptop as I fell asleep last night watching it. It's good. I also watched Call the Midwife. I was awake really early so managed to catch up before I got up :-D. What a shame though for poor Brian on the ice. He has improved so much and was doing so well. The weather last night seems to have knocked out ITV on the TV upstairs which is a pain. I will wait for James to come home and see if he is able to get it working again. He is better than Chris at this sort of thing :-D. I dont know what is on tonight so must have a look at the Radio Times. One programme I do like is Rich Kids go Skint. It is so nice to see a young person from a very privaliged life spend time living with another young person basically on the breadline and struggling to survive. It is worth watching .(if you like this kind of programme)

Afternoon All,

Only a little peep of sunshine this morning and it's dull again now, but the wind has slowly died down. I noticed the end panel of our neighbour's front fence had blown out and smashed but ours seems ok.

Well done on getting your new avatar Jane. You said your old one didn't look much like you anymore, so, my word you have changed a lot!!! Glad you are feeling better today and that the Olive pots didn't break. It was lucky you remembered James's Speed Awareness course! I wonder how he got on with it.

Mel I must congratulate you on how your garden was in the past (as well as now!). I can't believe how orderly and well managed and spick and span it was, especially with the amount of it to do! It was full of veg and it was a shame things had to change, but that's life isn't it, always changing. Your raised beds are very like the (much smaller) ones we made at my previous house and we had bark chippings between ours. It's good to have photos like these to look back on as sometimes you forget all you managed to do years ago.

Oh Frank, that boiler sounds like something is still wrong with it and now the shower playing up as well. You must be sick of these hot water problems. I hope you can get someone to sort them for you soon. To top it all your teeth snapped as well!! Good luck with the mower though, it sounds promising!

Yes we had the lovely lamb yesterday Gill. :-) She cut us very generous helpings this week too!! LOL. She said it had been very hot some days, about 39 degrees. It's good your Red Robins didn't get blown over in all the wind.

AnnG I like the Range too. They have such a variety of things. I never knew about the tap washers either. I dread dripping taps with being on a water meter! Luckily we have never had one in the 19 years we have been here. That'll jinx it now won't it!

OH made me smile at lunchtime. We always do the word wheel in the paper where you have to use the 9 letters to make words including one using them all. We struggled with the big word for ages, but eventually got it INFLUENZA. OH said, 'I know why we didn't get it........we'd had our flu jabs!' :-)

Your Ted sounds like mine Jane, I don't know how old mine is as it belonged to my aunt before me, but I can imagine it must be almost as old as yours and in the same state, but we still love them and the memories they hold don't we? So you've done a roast in your new cooker, hope it didn't make to much mess in the end. I keep telling myself not to worry about the drive but because of previous damage done, it's hard not to worry a bit. I'm trying not to keep looking out of the window all the time now, so that's a start and I do feel more relaxed at the moment.

OH and I watched the Red Arrows AnnG and found it very interesting, we're going to see where they are and try and go and see them this year if they're not to far from us. I stopped watching Casualty and Holby City a few years ago as we were to busy in the back garden, so wouldn't have a clue what was going on now. I did enjoy it though, but prefer to watch programmes on property or a good film, I also love documentaries or anything to do with space or history, so quite a variety of things. Sandra likes The voice, X factor and All together now, but OH and I have gone off those types of programmes so she records them for herself on her own TV. Because there was nothing OH and I fancied watching last Saturday we ended up watching the top 50 of the 80's, it brought back a lot of memories as OH used to be a DJ then, that's how we met, but it's nice to know we can choose things we like on a Saturday now with Sandra watching her programmes in the other room.

Have you heard if you've got the mower yet Frank? If you haven't I hope it's not to long you have to wait and you are successful.

AnninGlos Report 4 Mar 2019 16:25

Well done Jane. How did you do it in the end, can you remember? Or are you now stuck with Big Ted?

I feel for you Frank as I hate the cold, twice our boiler has gone wrong, both times in January. Being chilled makes me feel ill. So it is not a good thing when the boiler packs up

Gill, I do record a lot for us to watch mainly on weekend evenings when casualty is on OH won't watch that, or Call the Midwife so I have a stock of things like The Red Arrows and the one about the new aircraft carrier, he likes those sort of things, and walking programmes that are sometimes on, Countryfile, I can usually find things ro record. He never watches films or dramas either. (doesn't read bookd either).

Jane Report 4 Mar 2019 16:23

Frank ,I hope you didnt go up in the loft. Best to wait for Harvey.I reckon it will be a new boiler for you. You can't keep having it fail like this.Did you say it is 15 years old?
So now you have broken your gnashers :-S. I seem to remember you did that a while ago.You aren't having a very good time at the moment are you :-(. Fingers crossed you get the Mower :-D

Got all your pics Mel :-D. That must have taken all your time looking after that lot of veg !!!!.

AnnG We have a drippy kitchen tap too. I am pretty sure there are no washers as last time we had to have the mixed taps replaced so it will be the same again this time I think. There is nothing worse than listening to a dripping tap. Ours starts sometimes if someone is running the bath upstairs.

I feel much better today.I just felt so odd yesterday with no energy and dreadful heartburn. This is a new thing for me. So I have been taking Omeprozole Morning as well as night time.
My Roast was a great success last night even though I didnt actually eat that much. The best things were my Roast Potatoes :-D.

Gill, I do hope that they take care when digging up the old drive. They surely will be responsible if they do cause any damage to any of your property .You must try though not to get yourself all in a tizzy and make yourself ill again.

The sun is shining here and had been for most of the day .It is still very breezy and not too warm .

I am really pleased I have managed ot change my Avitar now. It was going to be Thomas but I decided to put my Big Ted on show. He is almost 65 years old. Lookng rather moth eaten poor thing and stuffing coming out of the end of his paws ,but I still love him. :-D

James went to the Speed Awareness class thing this morning. I didn't realise it was for the whole morning.8.45 -1pm. He almost forgot it was today so good job I mentioned it last night. I dont know what would have happened if he not gone. Probably he would have got the 3 points on his license .He has had to pay £85 too .

I need a cup of tea as I'm parched.

Gillx Report 4 Mar 2019 16:04

Love the pic of Big Ted Jane. I see you managed to put a picture up, much better than seeing an image of a man, it was very strange.

All pics arrived safely here Mel, all I can say is WOW. How many years ago was it? Do you still do any veg?

You'll need some tissues for "Call the Midwife" AnnG. I don't normally watch a lot of TV during the day unless I've recorded things Sandra wants to watch, but recently, because I was getting fed up of watching the same things, I had a look at the channels and found quite a few programmes I fancied, so I'm enjoying watching them. Sorry to hear you had a bad night and didn't feel very well, I'm not surprised you feel tired today, maybe an early night will make you feel better.

I hope Harvey can sort out your heating and hot water Frank. Maybe it's time to look into getting one of those free boilers, you can't keep going on like this and like you said you're electricity bill is going to be through the roof if you have to use heaters all the time. Is your hallway in the middle of your property, if it is you could put a heater in there and open all the doors so the heat goes into all the room, that way your bedroom would be warm to, that's what we did when our boiler stopped working. If you remember it was in the middle of winter and we had snow, so I know how cold it can be. I hope your shower can be sorted too.
I didn't know taps didn't have washers either, you learn something new all the time don't you? Good luck with the mower, hope you get it and no one creeps in at the last minute.

Frank Report 4 Mar 2019 15:03

I got all SIX thanks Mel,

Harvey is coming up later to look at the boiler and shower. Gawd knows what the Electricity meter would look like if we had one, it would be whirling round as we have the HALOGEN HEATER AND THE FAN HEATER on in the lounge, the rest of the bungalow is rather cold.

My bottom teeth broke yesterday, as I bits on a cheese biscuit. Will have to take them for repair, when we go into town.

Yes Ann in G Harvey said when I asked him about changing the washer in the cold tap. I am still waiting for him to tell me if it is a washer or not. That was 6 months ago at least. Whats the old saying about the "COBBLER being the worst SHOD". lol lol

Ros is catching up with the ironing. I have got a Sheep @@@@ poe out of the freezer for tonight. Veg, Cabbage,Runners and carrots.

Should know about the Mower this evening. I am the only bidder at present. I will increase my bid just before it ends, in case anyone is looking put a late bid in.

Lovely to have a walled garden though. I can't remember what you do with it now.

AnninGlos Report 4 Mar 2019 11:18

Good morning all

Mel I have had three photos, was wondering why they were a bit out of focus but I can see now they are photos of photos. I bet you made a decent amount of money selling the veg, although when you take in the cost of growing it all I doubt it was a big profit. I bet it was popular though.

Gill good that your big pots are all ok. and glad that it is/or was quiet for you. Strange but I can never settle to watch TV during the day, I will watch Call the Midwife this evening.

Jane funny you should say you were off colour yesterday, that is me today. I had a lousy night, kept waking up and when I did I felt very queasy. Not too bad today, very tired though.

Frank of dear it does sound as though you need a new boiler but I wonder what is the problem with the shower.

I have been getting on with several admin jobs. Monthly accounts have been done and dusted, have a few letters to write now.. Plumber has been and serviced the boiler and fixed a vibrating tap. did you know some taps now don't have washers, we were surprised as the tap had started dripping (three years old) but no washer to change just bit of plastic. It seems ok now, if it starts dripping again it will be new taps.

Morning all,

We have sunshine and heavy showers this morning and some with hail in them as I watched it slide down the bedroom window.

So how many pics did you get in the end|? There are six in all. The top garden is 1.25 acres but we used two thirds of that for the veg garden. I took the pics I sent off photos with my camera as I can't use the scanner as I don't know how to get the scannd things on my pc.

I shall have to go and see what I have in my sent box and see if it tells me what picture it was you received.

Frank Report 4 Mar 2019 10:57

Morning all, I don't know where to start.

We were up yesterday morning, showered and shave, Dressed and away to Simons by 11.15. Had a lovely day with relatives, and came home around 6.30 pm. Only to find no Bloody heating again. The same this morning to we have the halogen heater on in the lounge. After showering this morning I turned it off and got dressed. I went in the bathroom a little later only the find the shower was working on it's own. I tried turning it off, with no luck. So have had to turn it off at the fuse box, which was put in as accelerate item when I had my stroke and turned the bathroom into what then was a wet room. So our only source of HOT WATER has now been turned off. So it will have to be the Kettle.

I will ring Harvey to see if it is something he can sort out. Otherwise it will mean getting an electrician and that won't be cheap..

I am going up in the loft shortly to try to get the boiler working. Brian the plumber hasn't been in touch and when I spoke to Julia last night All she said was I AM SURE HE WILL BE IN TOUCH THIS WEEK. A lot of bloody good that is when you have no heating or HOT WATER.

Sorry folks, but I am in such a state at the moment. I will try to get back later.

Morning all

Sunny here today, all my pots are still in place as far as I can see, so that's a relief, the last thing we needed was the big Red Robins falling over as they are very heavy and not easy to pick up.

The pics arrived Mel, that's a large space you had there, it looked like a lot of work had been done.

Sorry to hear you weren't feeling very well yesterday Jane, good that you feel okay today. Hope your greenhouse survived the strong wind last night.

Did you buy anything nice from the Range AnnG? I bought lots of card making things for Sandra from there last Christmas, I got so carried away I ended up spending £100, so I kept some to one side for her birthday and Christmas this year. It's so easy to get carried away with the prices being so reasonable. You should of seen the length of the receipt, even the cashier said she's never had a receipt that big before. Of course Sandra was in her element choosing everything, it was so nice to see her face.

OH's nipped to the shops and Sandra is still asleep, the workmen have turned up and are very quiet, not sure what they are doing today. At least the weather is better for them if they do any cutting etc.. outside.

While I'm on my own I think I'll watch "Call the Midwife" I've recorded.

Morning All

I was missing yesterday as I felt really off colour .I think I feel ok today but am still sat in my bed looking out at a lovely blue sky .What wind last night. Our Olive Tree pots went over but everything else loooks ok.Chris will check the Greenhouse in a bit.

Mel I got the pics :-D. What did you do with all that veg you used to grow???? How long ago was that?

I am just going to have a shower and wash my hair now and then I must do a bit of shopping. Toilet Rolls are top of the list as Chris said there are not a lot in the cupboard.
I will be back later on.

AnninGlos Report 3 Mar 2019 21:49

Sorry, I am fine, just busy today although to be honest not sure what I was doing other than washing and cooking a Sunday roast. We did nip out to the Range this morning when it was raining a bit. It got very windy around 6pm.
Thanks Mel the photo has come through, that was a productive garden you had there, big too.

Gillx

Gillx Report 3 Mar 2019 21:31

The wind has really picked up here now and it's pouring with rain, hopefully none of my pots will be blown over, no doubt we'll find out in the morning.

Yes, it was a shame Brian fell Mandy, it looked like the girl he was skating with was very upset, bless her, but like you said the judges didn't really have a choice but to send him home.

How wonderful to be in a plane and go places Ann, the weather over there at the moment is really hot according to an email I got off my old school friend earlier, so coming home to wet and windy weather isn't going to be much fun for her. It's nice that she comes to your table for a chat, did you have the lamb again today?

I also noticed there was no Jane or Frank or Anne and AnnG either, I hope everything is okay with them all.

Annx

Annx Report 3 Mar 2019 21:12

Evening All,

Well it's getting very windy here now and we had really heavy rain last night and this morning. I hope the wind won't keep us awake.

I bet it was a bit of a relief to hear they thought DIL's father had had a migraine Mandy. It's strange the different ways they can affect you.

What a shame the pics won't go Mel. It would be interesting to see how things used to be! Your OH's meal sounds a bit unusual but interesting. It's a good job he weighted that part of the shed down. I just had a picture in my mind of him doing a Mary Poppins!!

I know how you feel Gill after we had building going on here for 2 years! I agree it will be much quieter with them working inside, but understand your concern about them breaking up the old drive. As Mandy said though, they know you will be keeping an eye on them. ;-) ;-)

We saw the usual chef at lunch today. She always comes to our table for a quick chat, but we hadn't seen her for a month, so thought she had left or been ill or something. She said she'd been on holiday to stay with relatives in Australia for a month and had only got back last night. It sounded like she had a great time as one relative had a plane and took them all over the place.

Off to bed now and watch a bit of telly.
