Good evening all
Jane just seen the view from your window, what a shame as it was just fields before it's the last thing you want at the moment as well as all the noise, are they building houses there?
Wet day here but there was a beautiful vivid sun set so hope it will be better tomorrow as I am walking to the dentist for my 6 month check up it only takes 20 minutes to get there.
Mel thank you for sending on a photo of Ann's glass work and more of your own lovely photos especially the little wren Richard recorded Baptiste which we will watch later this evening , he also recorded, Traitors and Endeavour as he was at Ice Hockey.
Jane, North Yorkshire is a really good place to spend a holiday we have been there many times. Heartbeat was also filmed at Goathland .We went on the train to Whitby last time we were there. Have you looked at Sykes cottages sight?
When Paul picks up his camper van he will stay in it overnight his friend who is taking him in his camper van will also be staying over. When he picks it up it will be fully serviced, cleaned and MOT'd. I don't think he will spend many big holidays in it more long weekends, Richard wouldn't want to spend a night in it as Paul has such a large snore and he always does it. .That's why they have to have separate rooms when we go on holiday.
Had my usual Monday chat with my eldest SIL, She went to a funeral the other day with no body, the chap had donated his body to research as he had Parkinsons, she said it was strange as it was held in the local crematorium and of course no coffin.
Frank I agree with Jane that maybe playing some music at bedtime would help also maybe some warm milk to drink .
Pleased to hear you are feeling better Mandy, not a nice thing to have and can be weakening too. It's school half term here so will you be seeing the grandchildren?
Jane I'm not surprised that James is taking time off so he can get his head round the situation, did he see it coming or was it a complete shock to him?
So the little whizz kid had a good night's sleep bless her and has now refuelled her batteries AnnG.

Jane don't get on platform 9 3/4 or you will be off to Hogwarts.
I am looking forward to the new Chasteau programs tonight. Did anyone watch the new Baptist on BBC 1 and the new Traitors on Channel 4? I'm watching Traitors tonight and maybe Endeavor.
I'm making sheep sh*t pie with carrots and spring greens.

Mel that's a good looking chicken house i would go for it no point in OH having to build one if it's not going to work out any cheaper
Ann there's usually a planning notice put up some where to say whats happening and they are usually put up with those plastic twist ties ,perhaps some one took it down so no one could object !!!!!! It will be interesting to see if any cars use your drive for a turning place as i think that's what you were saying they might do . I think the Chateau programme last night was a repeat but the ones tonight are new ones
Jane i don't know where i picked the bug up from ,son had it about a week ago but none of the children have had it .
Frank i'd like to see the hat for the dog when its done :-D if i put some thing like that on Max it would soon be pulled off and ripped up :-D It was Max's birthday last Saturday he was three !!! we got him a couple of those tubes that squeak ,i have to make sure they are that really hard plastic though .
We went on the steam train from Pickering to Goathland when we stayed at a holiday cottage near Pickering ,i remember we had the window open on the train as it was so hot and we all got covered in smuts form the smoke :-D

Afternoon All James went to work this morning but was home again by midday. He is now taking a few days off.The meeting up with Jess next Saturday will be to decide one way or the other if they will stay together. To be honest I think it would be best if they went their separate ways. Anyway enough about that.
So Paul has at last found a Camper Van :-D. He will be off on the road soon :-D. It is good that he can keep it on your drive Anne.
Mandy ,Im sorry you felt unwell for so long .At least you are better now and the girls can come and stay . has anyone else had this bug?
Frank, these night time episodes are really strange. I do wonder if before you go to bed it might be better not to read ,but to maybe listen to some relaxing music ,and no TV for about half an hour or so before you go to bed.
Mel I loved your pics .It looks such a lovely place there at Rosemoor. If you have seen a new Hen house I would go for it,especially if it is going to cost around the same as making one.
AnnG ,I wonder why there is such a time gap between the cremation and the Church Service. It is a long time . That is good that littly slept well at yours :-D
I have been all afternoon again looking at holiday cottages for Yorkshire in May.I think we have found one now in a place called Goathland. The Railway station is where Harry Potter was filmed I think. We can get the steam train from there to Whitby which might be quite nice.I will book it in the morning as I am almost crosseyed now after scrolling down page after page of cottages.
Frank, my next door neighbour cut his grass on Saturday . But Chris has no intention of doing ours just yet. The Mower will need to go for its yearly MOT first. I think you should not do yours so soon after breaking your ribs and having punctured lungs!!!!!. I am sure your lawn can wait a bit longer. You are still healing. So the hat is being knitted now for the poor dog. I feel sorry for him in a way :-S. He might look really silly.
Don't talk to me about road works ,pot holes etc.It is ridiculous here. I dread going out these days . 3 way ,4 way traffic lights ,roads being dug up for what I am not sure .It is flipping horrible. Beef Stroganoff tonight for us. I cooked it earlier so just need to get the rice on and some Asparagus.

That's good you feel a bit better now Mandy. These bugs can make you feel really grim for a while. I watched the Chateau prog last night. Angel comes up with some great, original ideas. I won't say much in case some haven't seen it but I did like the wallpaper museum! ;-)

Afternoon All,
We were out most of yesterday and this morning so I have missed lots of posts. Sorry Anne and Gill for you not getting my email. My email is Talktalk and they have just updated and re-styled my emails........it is a NIGHTMARE and has new problems now!! I did a new GR contact group, but missed Anne somehow and it picked up Gill's old email address. I have edited it several times to show her new one, but after saving, it shows her old one, yet in the listing it is the new one??? :-S Maybe once I close everything down and restart it will be correct.
What a shame about James and Jess Jane. I wonder if Hannah getting married has made them think about their own future and where they are going? It can't be easy to sort out any differences with them living such a distance apart either, but hopefully it will blow over as someone said. If not, Frank is right that it's better now than once they are married and/or have finances entwined in a home and maybe children. James hasn't had a good start to the year what with his job and now this.
I love the Rosemoor pics Mel, especially the Wrens and Hellebores. So your OH is thinking about a new Chicken House now. Mum and dad's was on legs which kept it nice and dry and the egg boxes at each side were a nice level for collecting the eggs. He does keep busy with all he does.
AnnG I see a little whirlwind has been staying with you! It reminds me of when my sister's 2 boys were about 2 and 3 and she brought them to visit at my old house. They left a trail of things to be put right by the time they had gone. I even had to get someone out to the washing machine and we never did find the diamond stylus off the record player! Apparently when they got up the next morning they were full of requests to go back to Auntie Ann's!!
Frank I wonder if it is all the worry and stress you have had that's causing these disturbed nights. OH had the same sort of thing aged about 12 after his grandmother, who looked after him, died. He still had some at times when we first moved here but it hasn't happened for years now. Like you he would be shouting and leap out of bed, run into the hall, leaving all the bedclothes on the floor. It was always about 'things' in the bed or the room that were a danger.
The sliding gate the neighbour opposite mentioned was being talked about has started to be put in place across the opening at the end of our 4 bungalows where the road goes through to the 3 new properties. I looked up the planning application and am amazed it's been allowed. The joke though is that the planning application said there had been no objections!! No wonder as the council didn't even inform us and I'm sure they should have. OH doesn't like the idea of the gate as he says it will make the close look as if there is something down there worth stealing and encourage those who are up to no good!

And so much taveling for the mourners too. It sounds a silly idea to me.
Its good your feeling better today Mandy and I am sorry this knocked you down for two days at least. I sometimes think when I go shopping to put that antibactiel on the basket handle and my hands before going round the shop with it as it is always me who brings a cold home let alone anything else.
When I rang Mole Valley the man I spoke to sneezed twice right down the phone and nearly blew my ears out as I had it on speaker but had it to my ear!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its just as well you can't get germs through the phone. :-S :-S
I liked the little Wrens sitting on the branch on the big stone too and I did'nt see how much that one was. The stag was £2000 but so much work had gone into it I am not surprized and the metal would have cost a lot too.

I think I am going to buy my big girls a new chicken house. Oh could build me one but I think the materials wouls cost about the same as the one I have seen at Mole Valley.
Oh will modify it a bit for me. Its a shame the man who lived up the road and made my other two houses has moved and the one thats in better condition is bigger and I have it filled with my flowers pots and other garden things and chicken fencing. I think this time around I may just paint it inside and out.

Hi all, Thought I would pop in to annoy you. lol lol
What a horrible day it turned out to be, COLD RAIN for a good two hours.
Eos took the car in for the service and MOT. It failed on REAR BRAKE PIPES. So not able to finish today. They are having it back Friday morning, so another day without her car. She is not a "HAPPY BUNNY"
Ros is now knitting this silly hat for Sally and Simon's French Bull Terrier. I bet he will look a right sight going out with that on. POOR THING.!!!!!
I wish they would start to repair our local roads, they are in such a terrible state, with holes everywhere. I saw a note in the back of a car last week. It SAID " Not drunk, swerving to try to miss the POT HOLES"
Just think with all this money they are sending abroad, they could repair every road in BRITAIN. Sorry, but it just gets to me. :-| :-| :-|
Glad you seem to be a bit better Mandy. xx
AnneinGlos. It's a bit of a drag for everyone involved for there to be TWO different services at such a wide gap. What and where are the mourners going to go/do in the six hour gap.?? The book I am reading is about the East End of London GANG LAND. so I wouldn't have thought that would cause me to go "walkabout." Will have to see if I do it again tonight.
I am still in two minds wheather to cut my lawns or not. My nephew John said he was talking to a Green Kepper at a Golf course. and he said you should try to cut your grass every week provided it's dry. I know Mel's oh is always cutting his, as is Gill's. Has Chris started yet Jane ?? or to the point HAS ANYONE. ??
The lamb that is over from yesterday has been cut up and wrapped in tin foil. It will go in the oven to warm through, while I roast the pots and Parsnips, so it will be a similar meal as yesterday. Two roasts, two days running. The bone and what's left on it has gone into next door for AMY the dog. !!
I hope your weather is better than ours.

Afternoon all,
Dull here all morning and now it's just started to rain .
Jane ,that's so sad James and Jess splitting up after all the time they have been together ,perhaps it hasn't helped with all the problems James is having with his job at the moment ,it must be playing on his mind ,i hope they can sort things out , it's good he is talking to Hannah and not bottling it all up Glad you got the cooker sorted in the end ,it's a good idea to save the old grill pan but i bet it won't fit ,i saved some of the oven racks from my old oven but then they didn't fit this oven ,they usually have two racks but some times you could do with the three .
Lovely photo's again Mel i love the big deer and the little birds too
So Paul has bought the camper then Anne ,is it one ready to drive or has he bought it to do it up ? Some of them look a real home from home when they have been done up.
Oh Frank you been trotting off in your sleep again ,i wonder what's started you off doing that ,at least your keeping in doors and not going outside in your sleep.
That's good little one slept well in a strange bed AnnG it can be a bit unsettling for them some times .
The girls are coming tomorrow as i was still poorly yesterday ,i don't know where i got the bug from but i do feel better today
I meant to say there's another new series of Escape to the Chateau DIY on today for those that like it 5 o'clock on channel 4

would the chicken house be warmer for them if it was up on legs Mel? I know nothing about chickens, just wondering. Theya re only happy when they are doing/making things aren't they?
My Oh trimmed the lawn off and cut the edges this morning so it does look a lot tidier out there now.

Sun came out here and its not too bad out there.
Oh is not mowing but putting up the new chicken run he's made. Now he is talking about making a new chicken house to go in it as the one I have is falling apart but its done me well for 20 odd years. As the new run is a bit smaller than the old one he is talking about makeing it on legs so they have shelter underneath instead of a seperate shelter which they have now. Not so many things on the grass. Not sure if its a good idea or not. We'll see what he comes up with.

We just popped round for the paper, walking to avoid being held up by temporary 4 way traffic lights just up the road. This is the 4th time they have done things to this cross roads. One of the utilites firms. Traffic was horrendous, not helped by the main road being used for a diversion to the main A40 which has roadworks. We did have warning but that doesn't help. I suppose we should feel fortunate that they did choose to do it at half term.
Thanks for the photos Mel. I love the one of the little wren family.
Could your strange episodes be connected to the book you are reading before you sleep Frank? The funeral is tomorrow but it is split. The cremation is at 0930 and the celebration of life church service is about 3.30pm. Not really well organised for the family who will be travelling. Grandson, wife and little one will be staying in a travel lodge tuesday night. They will leave here early morning to get to Salisbury for the cremation.

Good morning all,
Would you believe that last night I was so tired I was in bed by 9.00 pm. Had a read, and don't remember putting my book down and turning off the light. THEN it happened again, I came out to Ros and said "They have all gone now, so you can come to bed". I then toddled off back to bed. What on earth is going on in my brain box, I don't know. !!!
Jane, there is a good way to look at the split. It's better now, than later, when perhaps they were married, and had children. I am surprised by the news as they have been together for sooooo long. Lets hope they can still be friends, and keep in touch.
The car has gone in for it's service and MOT. The garage said they may not be able to get it all done today, as they have so much work. I booked this over a week ago, so really there is no excuse, if he has taken on more work than they can cope with. I won't be best pleased if it has to go back again.
Nothing sort of morning here, breezy and overcast. with a chill in the air. Eos is doing housework today, she says the place is a mess. Which it isn't, it's just HER lol lol
It's unusual for you to have a bad night Mel, what time did you go to bed ?? and what was on your mind ??.
Glad the little one had a good night AnninG. The last thing you need is a broken nights sleep with a child in a strange house. When are they going to the funeral ??
Anne, A camper van was something I always wanted when I was younger. It would have been great to go touring around the Country with the family, knowing you had your bed available as and when you stopped for the night. I did tour Scotland with my EX and children, which was great, and found some lovely B & Bs, In fact one night was spent in LOATHER CASTLE in the TURRETS. To old to contemplate anything like that now. !!!!
What caused you tummy upset Mandy, to many treats with the children. lol lol. I trust you are feeling better now. xx
It looks like Tony has been busy, there is a line of washing out. Valerie is not in a good place right now. Ros spoke to her over the weekend, and she seems very weak and not at all with it. She says some days are better than others.
Nothing planned for today.I will prepare dinner for tonight later, apart from that it will be reading my book, and generally doing NOUGHT. !!!
