Well that's twice I've touched something on here and deleted my posts. I must try holding my hands up and let my fingers dangle like 2 spiders to type! Nice to see you there AnninGlos and if my glass is salvageable I will send pics.

After saying one thing leads to another, OH was asked this morning if he would sit on yet another panel. A small retainer is paid but he said it won't be much work, but he always says that! After lunch I remembered we needed some kitchen bin bags being as the plastic bags haven't appeared yet and I managed to find some at the garden centre.

Mandy I think we should hopefully get a refund if the glass can't be fired again. It would still be a day's work for nothing though, but then again it was some practice for us. I'm looking forward to popping to the place tonight to have a look at mine and also to have a look at what the students are making........I can have a nose around!! :-)

I don't think it applies anymore Gill, but when I first got married lots of people would leave 1 room without a radiator, usually the kitchen, so the house wouldn't be classed as having 'full central heating' which meant their rates would be cheaper! Mum always used the cooker to warm her kitchen.

Mel I forgot it was called twillweld. We had to doubleskin it on the aviary frames, one layer each side of the frames to keep those naughty pussycat paws from reaching through. The birds weren't scared of the cats after a while and would stay outside chirping at them. I'd forgotten your OH was a Game Keeper, so he would have plenty of practice at pen making as you say. I like the idea of using temporary screws to hold the wire till it was fixed.

AnneGlos, so nice to see you pop in. You are always welcome you know. xxxx

It turned out to be quite a nice day, not that I have been out. I started another book this morning, so had my head stuck in that. It's by the same author as the TWO GIRLS Jane. I will let you know the title.

Ros is knitting the hat for the dog. The eyes have to be made on three needles with the points at each end (so I have been told) Carolyn has some needles for Ros to borrow.

She found some wool she loved yesterday, so she is going to knit herself another scarf.

Ros has made a stew for this evening, so nice and easy and not a lot of clearing up.

Don't you go spending all your money in Norwich Mandy. !!! I often think of my time spent there sixty years ago. It was Buddy Holly's anniversary of his death, the other day. I remember hearing that news sitting on my bed, at OLD CATTON 3650 FCU Constitution Hill. So I have a reasonable memory for an old one. !!!!

I don't expect you have much time for afternoon Tele, but I have been watching David Dimblby sailing around the coast. It's worth a look on catch up, if you like that sort of thing.

Nights are starting to draw out now, so Spring won't be long now. ;-) ;-) ;-)

NOW LOOK HERE ANNINGLOS YOU ARE WELCOME TO COME ONTO THE THREAD AT ANY TIME. wE WOULD ALL WELCOME SOME NEW POSTS FROM OTHERS.

Yes I was shoutiong as I want Annin glos on the thread please please please. :-D :-D :-D

Well I have cleaned out the big girls this afternoon and posted of my new licience after a lot of hassle about who should sign it and fathoming it all out. I just hope I have filled it out right and it dos'nt all come back to me.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 6 Feb 2019 12:36

good afternoon all. You will know I have said before that I always read your interesting thread. (Even though I sort of feel as if I am eavesdropping :-D). well I also often want to reply but don't quite have the nerve. This time though I decided I would. Those crafty ones among you, do you realise that glitter is made up of lots of tiny bits of plastic? No, I didn't either but I read something about it yesterday and it looks as though in the fight to do away with plastic glitter might be something that will disappear in its current form. I don't know if they will replace it but, if like Mel, you use quite a bit you could do with stocking up.

Annx Oh that sounds a great disappointment if your glass was spoilt. And I was looking forward to asking you for photos for the craft blog. (which does seem redundant these days so I usually use the photo blog instead).

Frank how sad about the Lab. So sorry to hear/see about that, hope there is some treatment for it.

I shall creep out again now Lol!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 Feb 2019 12:16

Yes Frank you had told us that Sally and Simon wanted Ros to knit a hat for Buddie but you had'nt told us they wanted a frogs hat! He will look great and we must have a picture when you get one please?

Washing just ready to go on the line now as its finished.

Ann oh puts screws in to hold the wire tight before he staples it on the frame then removes the screws when the staples are in. Don't forget he used to be a game keeper as well as a Fireman and had to build pens for the young chicks and birds.

That twill weld was strong for the averies was'nt it? I used to have to cut that as I sold it by the yard when I had the pet shop.

Afternoon all,

What a lovely day suns shining and it's really warm through the glass as I sit here .

Oh Frank what a shame about the Lab I hope some thing can be done bless him/her.
So Ros has a pattern for the hat ,I'd love to see a photo when it's done .
Three Wheels on my Wagon I'll have that song on my brain now :-D
The other day it was the Meat Ball song I kept humming :-D

What a shame about your glass Ann ,if they haven't fired properly will you be able to do them again? or is it the luck of the draw .
I like the Works too I'm off to Norwich tomorrow shopping with DIL so will be able to have a browse in the Norwich store.

I rang the dentist to book our check ups this morning , 4th of April is the earliest appointment we can get .

Right better get some rolls in the oven to have with our Parsnip soup.

Didn't see you there Frank as I forgot to send my post! Glad you had a good night too. It makes you feel so much better. Thanks for saying about how the injections helped your knee.......I hope mine is as good and will make moving about easier!! :-) What a shame about the Lab. I hope it hasn't spread and they can do something. Ros is good coming up with these ideas. The frog eyes on the hat will look great on BUDDIE!! lol.

Annx Report 6 Feb 2019 11:45

Morning All,

I slept like a log last night and we have sunshine this morning! :-D

I hadn't really thought Mel, but fixing the wire on the frames can be quite a job stretching the wire as flat as you can and holding it in place to staple, then the trimming to fit. I remember helping first OH do our aviaries when we had the canaries and budgies. That was easier too as the wire had square holes and lay flat, but no staple gun then though! I need to get some washing on, I thought there would be less washing once we retired but the bin still seems to fill up quickly.

I was all set to go and fetch my glass this morning when the friend I did it with rang. She had been to fetch hers, but had left it there as it hadn't fired properly. The glass hadn't fused together and she said some of the metal foil she'd decorated hers with had slid off! She said it looks like it had been taken out of the kiln too soon and everyone's glass was the same. :-S We don't know if it can be fired again to finish it off or whether that will cause it to shatter! Someone other than the teacher will have removed it from the kiln as she is only there to do a weekly class and an occasional Saturday class. As She will be there doing a class tonight I shall pop in and see her and my glass and see what she says. My friend had got us both picture frames at Ikea yesterday for us to frame some of ours.......shows you shouldn't count your chickens before they are hatched or glass before it's fired! ;-)

Yes it's good to be able to get on with things without interruptions isn't it Mel. He's out now so I've started another drawer in the bedroom. Better get on as I'm meeting him at the garden centre for a jacket potato once he rings. It is close to where his next meeting is this afternoon and I can have a potter around afterwards.

I think the Works is brilliant now. We have a new one in the garden centre just down the road. A friend does some lovely little gft frames for 'occasions' for friends and she gets all sorts from there, beads, charms, lace, backing papers etc. She did a lovely one for another friend's OH for his birthday. She used a photo of him and had him watching sports on a TV in a bat cave as he likes those too. She made little 3D bats that were flying around, it was very good.

Good morning Mel, and all you lovely people. xxx

What a great nights sleep I had last night. 10.00 pm in bed little bit of radio and settled down by 10,30 pm. Never moved, well I don't think so until 7.45 am. Laid for a while to get my thoughts in order lol lol. Up and made Tea, Ros had an extra hour and said she slept well also.

before I had my left knee replaced I was having injections. BELIEVE ME they were GREAT. Almost instant pain relief, and I wondered if I really needed the replacement. So please don't worry. They might give you a BADGE anyway. lol lol

I haven't beed to the Royal for years Jane, but as you say the seats aren't the best, are they.

That dress looks the "BEES KNEES" Mandy, what a clever girl you are. Brownie points for you. xxxx

I had to screw the castor back on the poufe (sp) yesterday. It caught the rug and came off. "THREE WHEELS ON MY WAGON" all sorted now. ;-) ;-)

Quite foggy and damp here this morning, but now the SUN has broken through and it's brightened up to be a nice morning. What a nice change to see and feel the sun.

Simon rang this morning, both him and Sally are very upset. Their old Labrador who is ELEVEN has been diagnosed with the BIG "C" . They have to go back to the vets next Monday, so see how bad things are, and what the next step will be.

Sally wants Ros to knit a hat for their FRENCH BULLDOG with FROG EYES on the top. Ros has found a pattern for the eyes, and will knit a bobble type hat to attached the eyes too.( I THINK I HAVE MENTIONED THIS THE OTHER DAY) Silly me. (Getting old, or what) ???

Jane the Shanks were Tesco Finest, but FAR TOO MUCH for us, we threw away more than we ate. What a terrible waste. :-| :-| :-| I hate wasting food. !!!

Still no word about my sister, so I will ring my SIL later, to see if she has any news.

Enjoy this SPRING weather, while it lasts. See you later. xxxx

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 5 Feb 2019 22:49

Mandy the dress is lovely. She should be really pleased with that. Love the lace collar. The prints good too and just like they would have had back then.

Went to Atlantic Village first today and got some white acrylic paint I wanted and it was much cheaper than on Amazon. I think its going to be just right for my candles I'm making. I went into The Works and they have lots of cheap stuff I can use for my crafts. I bought some nice leaves for a £1 and some little bottles of glitter and gems. The bottles are quite dear on Amazon too and I can use those for something else. I have 8 to a pack for £1.

Good luck with your injection in your knee Ann. we will all be thinking of you so let us know how you get on please on Thursday. Sounds like you're having a good sort out while its nice and quiet and you don't have to keep stopping. I don't have that now oh dos'nt go anywhere.

He only got the bottom lot of wire on today as the rain stopped play but there's no rush to get it done and this one is the one with the door in it so a bit more to it than just the frame and putting the wire on.

Well I am signing out now so see you all in the morning.

Night night. :-D

Love the dress Mandy, you are clever, it's brilliant and all without a pattern. <3

That worked out well Ann, your OH's appointment being changed. Good luck on Thursday.

I've not seen the news today Jane, those poor little children in the fire, how awful and not easy for the firemen either. One of my OH's cousin's gave up being a fireman for that very reason, he said it was to upsetting, when children were involved.

Well that's lovely Mandy, you made a great job of it. I love the tiny print too.......she will look just the part in it! :-D I've just had a think and I'm pretty sure OH has had the annual checkups since before he retired in 2010 so it's been a long time! They obviously didn't read his notes as you say. I could never understand why he got this special treatment!! lol.

Thanks for your good wishes Mandy and Jane for Thursday!! :-D I shall want a 'sticker' if it hurts! :-D

I have fallen asleep in one or two episodes of Silent Witness Jane. I tend to start watching them when I can't sleep and then drift off!!

How is he doing with the frames Mel? Has he stapled a lot of the wire on? I hope he has plenty of staples.

Evening all,

It's been a better day today we had a little sun ,not so cold after the frost lifted but now it's really chilly out there.

Yes i was going to say too that perhaps your sister is still in hospital Frank and that's why you haven't heard any thing .

Well that's good the Staple Gun has turned up so now OH can get on with the new panels ,perhaps when he's finished with it he'll put it where he can find it again :-D

Fancy OH having check ups for BP when he didn't need to ,how many times had he been before ? you would have thought it would have picked up on before now that he doesn't even take any medication for BP ,just show's that they don't read your notes !!!
Good luck on Thursday when you have your injection Ann ,it will be worth a little bit of discomfort when they do it if it means you'll be in less pain when you walk .

I've sent a photo of Lacey's dress .

Annx Report 5 Feb 2019 18:16

The way modern life is going! OH said when he went into the council for his interview he had to use a computer screen to scroll down to find who he was meeting. Then he had to follow the machine's instructions where to stand so the machine could take his photo to be his ID to take with him! They won't need receptionists soon. :-0 He said the interview lasted 55 minutes and went well he thinks.

That's a bit more for the charity shop and a home made for some more things in some drawers. :-D

Talktalk have updated and I can't find my way around my emails now. I just replied to a FB message from a friend via an email and it doesn't show up anywhere? :-S I'm all for improvements, but only if it makes things easier.

Jane Report 5 Feb 2019 18:13

Afternoon Everyone
Frank, I expect you will hear something about your neighbour if it is the worst news. It is always hard to know whether to enquire or just to wait.
It does seem strange that you haven't heard anything about your Sister. You don't think she might still be in hospital?

Good luck on Thursday Ann. I expect you will be feeling a bit apprehensive about having the injection. But I am sure it will be ok and hopefully will ease that awful pain. Does it work straight away or will it be a gradual lessening pain wise? As you say it is good OH's eye appointment has been cancelled as you now won't need to worry about the time .
Gill , I think that Boss is a right ignoramous and a totally rude and horrible man. He obviously has no regard for anyones concerns . I am surprised that he manages to get work to be honest. Our kitchen can be cold like yours even though there is a radiator . It is because it is right next to the integral garage and the cold comes through from there. Its getting a bit nippy now outside and I think it might be drizzling a bit.Thomas came in and had 5 minutes of madness ,tearing around the lounge and basically being a clown :-D.

So the Staple Gun has appeared then Mel :-D :-DYou will have ot make sure OH doesn't cover it up again :-D. Even though he says it wasn't him :-D

I have done that Mediterranean Beef Stew again for tonight. I have just kept it in the oven on low for hours. Mash to go with it . Lamb Shanks sound good Frank. I havent had them for ages now.The best ones I used ot have were Tesco Finest. I must have a look a nd see if they still do them. I have some packs of Venison in the freezer and keep forgetting about them. I will have to do a Venison Casserole soon.

Yes I was so fortunate to be adopted.I dread to think what my life would have been like had I not. When I think what my other Siblings had to cope with it just makes me realise how bloody lucky I was.I remember Joe (one Brother) saying how he wished he had been adopted.Janice too is adopted so we are too very lucky girls :-D :-D

Gemma Collins ! what a Diva . The GC. There is always someone like her who the public keep in. I do think she has improved quite a bit though, but you can't compare her to the others who are doing brilliantly.I don't know who I want to win.

Tomorrow Chris and I are going to see the 'Mousetrap' at the Royal and Derngate .
We will have lunch at ASK Italian beforehand . I know I have an Isle seat ,but hope it is the right isle so I can stick my leg out so my bad hip can be stretched out a bit.The seat are so uncomfortable at the Royal :-S :-S. I always said I wouldn't go back again but Hannah bought us these tickets for Chris's Birthday .

This fire where 4 little children have died is just the most terrible thing :-( :-(. What on earth happened . Maybe a gas explosion ? It is just so so tragic and the poor Firefighters finding these children !!!!. I hope they have good support .

I caught up with Silent Witness this afternoon as I fell asleep half way through last nights episode,so I am up for the second one tonight now.

Annx

Annx Report 5 Feb 2019 15:37

Afternoon All,

It's dull here but no rain yet, but it's getting colder. Poor Hello Kitty was squatting against the hedge near his home when I got back this morning and was looking very sorry for himself at being out. His mouth opened as he gave me a little miaow as I drove by.

I had an early night and a good sleep last night and woke up at 7.00am as Mr Overall was driving his van off to work. OH left at 12.00pm for his 3 trips this afternoon. I bet his tie will be in his pocket after the interview. He was trying to tell me his shirt neck had shrunk till I reminded him that the nurse had told him he had put on weight the other day. :-S

It sounds a right game next door Gill and I can remember us being concerned all the time with what the builder here was doing. A neighbour was telling us yesterday that the chap who does denture repairs and is in the bungalow round the corner and at the bottom has built his new garage partly over the road that is the turning point at the end! The neighbour said a car had been left parked blocking his driveway the other day and when he asked the driver why he had parked there he said he'd dropped his wife off for an appointment with the denture repair man and it was awkward and too far to reverse all the way back up the narrow road!! Now the denture repair man is wanting the other 2 new properties to join him in putting gates at the original bottom of the close after our 4 bungalows where they drive through to make them secure!! That means that every delivery vehicle (plenty!) and visitor the 3 of them have would be parking in front of our 4 driveways till they were let in or they would leave their vehicles and walk.

I've said before Frank how our mothers thought they had done their bit if we were fed, clothed and had a roof over our heads, never mind hugs and kisses or praise! Yet my grandma was very loving despite having had 9 children herself, but I didn't see her after age 9 when we moved counties. Some things you never erase from your memory. Mine were being told I'd ruined my mother's life (by being born), her life was a prison and no money through having me. Then my father with my toddler sister on his knee and no-one else around telling me that she was going to be his favourite and that the sooner I grew up and was gone the better. How does an 11 year old process that? I remember gasping for breath with the shock and realisation that it was true that I wasn't wanted and was alone in the world. I sat on my bed for ages with tears running down my face but didn't dare make any noise as I would be made fun of for crying. I'd sit on the landing listening to the rows at night and after seeing my mother pack her case and walk off up the road once, I worried every time I got home from school in case she had gone and what would become of me. I've always felt that children with privileged upbringings can reach for the sky in their ambitions and achievements, whereas I had a ball and chain of worry and instability at home. Even when I managed to do well at school I wasn't allowed to continue. One consequence is that I am all for what makes children equal at school, from wearing a uniform to equal support and wouldn't allow expensive school trips that some parents can't afford. I can remember the smirks from some of the better off children that could go on all the trips and outings! Well that's enough of my memory lane......we can't change the past, but we can learn from it and be different ourselves. :-)

OH's eye appointment on Thursday has been cancelled and re-booked which has worked out well as I have my knee injection on Thursday and we weren't sure he'd be done at the eye clinic before I needed to go to my appointment. I'm a bit worried about any plasters they may use as I seem to be allergic to most now.

Better get back to my sorting now while his lordship is out and I can get on. He won't be back till after 8.00pm.

Gillx

Gillx Report 5 Feb 2019 15:23

I'm the same as you Frank and tried my best for my girls, although I think I may have spoilt them a bit over the years with big presents for Christmas, but I remember my mum asking me what I'd like for my birthday each year and every time I said what I'd like she always said I'll get you that for Christmas pick something else. The only time I ever got what I asked for was on my 12th birthday when I asked for two record albums "Grease" and "Saturday Night Fever" I was so shocked that I finally got what I'd ask for on my birthday without having to wait until Christmas, it's always stuck in my head as the best birthday EVER. She's gone back to her usual ways now, so I've stopped telling her what I'd like, when she asks me now I just say, surprise me. I wouldn't mind but my sister always got what she asked for, mind you, she's always been mum and dad's favourite and still is.

Sorry to hear about your neighbour it must be difficult to know what to say at times like that.
Have you rang anyone about your sister yet? It does look like you'll have to be the one to ring.
I agree with you about Gemma Collins, I was saying the same, it's not fair on everyone else who can skate better than her. I thought it was suppose to be a skating competition, not a popularity one.

Pleased to see you have finally found the staple gun Mel, how much has your OH done today, now he has the tools to work with?

Frank Report 5 Feb 2019 13:00

Northing to report since this morning. I did get myself some breakfast Eggs on Toast. We have been so lucky with DOUBLE YOKERS. I have had 6 on Sundays for the yorkshire puddings, in the last three weeks, and this morning I had two more. I know Ros buys the BEST and LARGEST there are on the shelf, so it seems to have paid dividends.

We had a box arrive this morning of RICHARD (can't think of his surname) compost from QVC. Ros buys it every year, for her seeds and cuttings. She swears by it. !!! I managed to get is as far as the conservatory door, and Ros got it down the steps on the sack barrow, and into the garage. I will get Harvey, Jonathan or some fitter person to get it down to the green house.

I was hoping I might hear from my Nephew regarding my sister being home from Hospital, but it looks like it will be left to me to PHONE.

Ros has gone out with Carolyn this morning, to do their usual Tuesday rounds. They usually end up at a Garden Centre for a bit of lunch, and put the world to right.

Lamb Shanks tonight, in a red wine gravy and root veg. I have done potato's, swede and spring cabbage to go with it. I might pop a Rice pudding in for Ros, as she likes something sweet after her dinner.

I meant to say, that GEMMA COLLINS on Dancing on Ice, is certainly getting the sympathy vote from the PUBLIC. Certainly not from me. The longer she stays in, the more, BETTER dancers are being sent home. It goes against the grain. :-( :-( :-(.

Gill, it seems strange, how some parents feel so strong about the bringing up of their children. I think because of my childhood, I tried to give my children everything within reason. (they were never spoilt) But I loved to come home from work and bath the children. When they were on the bottle, I would feed them, and put them to bed with a cuddle. As they got older a story was either made up or read from a book most nights. We did the same with Lewis. As he got older it was DVDs of Harry Potter etc., but he never seemed to stay awake, for more than the first 10/15 minutes. How times changed. I wonder what they do now. ??? VIDIO GAMES ???

Hope you didn't forget anything in your shopping today Mel. What was the VET doing at yours this morning. Ha Ha. I known you meant WET. ;-) ;-)

Our neighbour across the road had the Ambulance arrive this this with the BLUES going. I know he is on his last legs with CANCER, but I don't like to go and ask, if everything is alright. Which I know it isn't. Very difficult to know why to do for the best. <3 <3

Full up from breakfast, so might only have a coffee, and catch the News.

Morning Gill and all,

Wet here today and I left washing on the line and even though its under cover above the wind has blown the rain in and the washing is wetter than when it went out. We also had a heavy mist last night which did'nt help. Its only three of my cotton polo neck tops and two kitchen towels the rest I put on the rads airers as they were only socks and smalls.

When I came into the kitchen this morning there on the floor was the Staple Gun in its box as oh said it was. I had had a bit of a tidy up in the summer and put some folded pond liner on a table in the workshop and then the box with the gun in and some more folded liner on it. Oh had got out the taarmac bags in the summer as thats the only time we can fill the holes in the road and the cardboard box with stuff in I had put on top of the sacks of tarmac had been put on the table. On top of tthat oh had put one of his long hedge cutters which I did'nt move yesterday. He did today and found it between two layers of neatly folded pond liner. He said he never puts anything away neatly folded so it was my fault. He never puts anything away anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!! folded or in a mess.

Shopping day so I better get on.
