I keep meaning to say have any of you watched The Victorian House of Arts and Crafts on BBC 2, its on a Friday night and if you hav'nt its well worth a look on iplayer. They have a group of 5 doing up rooms in a lovely victorian house. They live there and have a cook who does all the cooking and they ahve to make things for the room in the Arts and Crafts style. I watched two programs la\st night and thoroughly enjoyed them.

Roads were fine on the way to Holsworthy as mmost of them were dry. There is still loads of snow on Dartmoor cos I can see it twice on the way there.

Got the scripts and we actually have the make we both like today instead of the cheaper ones so that was good.

When I delivered the eggs this morning I asked the boys if they made a snowman as I have a young lady who would like to see a picture if they had. Guess what THEY HAD Ziggy Wiggy is her name and I will send it to you SANDRA. I think you will agree her hair is smashing.

Suns still out here but it came over a little cloudy at one point and a few tiny snow flakes came down but it had cleared by the time I went out and the sun was shining again.

Ann the workshop sounded really interesting I hope it all turns out ok when you go to pick it up on Wednesday.

Our snow and ice are slowly starting to melt down the bottom of the garden where the sun is. I can hear an ice cream van going around the streets, I'd of thought it was bit to cold for ice creams today. There's no workmen next door so it's nice and quiet.......bliss :-)

Yes, Mandy there was a slippery patch right by the side gate this morning, good job we noticed the water last night or it could of been a lot worse. I bet the boss told the new neighbours their property wouldn't be finished on time because of the bad weather, so they wouldn't have a choice but to wait a bit longer. I do feel for them though, as now the workmen aren't coming back for another week, so one workmen said yesterday.

Did you get your scrips okay Mel? Hope you are now home and warm.

Pleased to see Richard got home okay Anne. Has Ruby run around in anymore snow again today? I wonder why the police had blocked off the road, hope it wasn't anything serious.

I wonder how Jane is getting on with her brother. Hope it wasn't to cold for them both.

So your tum is sorting itself out now Frank, that's good, you'll feel more comfortable now. Is there anyone you can ring to see how your sister is if you don't want to disturb her incase she's on her own? Good luck with your RAC membership. I hope Ros can find a pattern for the hat. I'd love to see a pic of Buddie wearing it, if you can get one.

Afternoon All,

Thick frost here this morning and we didn't expect it after no frost yesterday. We went off to the class in the village and met one lady who used to go to beading class with us a few years ago. It was a different teacher to who we'd had before, but she was very good, although it was more or less set what we did. Yes I remembered some plasters Mandy and had to put one on after half an hour!!! LOL. We had to cut 18 small squares of glass about an inch and a half wide to decorate with a heart theme. (Valentine's day soon!). Then we made 2 wall hangings, again with a heart theme on one but I did a tree on one of mine, then we did a coaster with hearts on but she let us do what we liked so I did snowdrops. Then the last biggest challenge of all was to cut 2 fantasy bird shapes from a square of glass to match each other and decorate them!! Very hard cutting around curves and there were a few groans as bits broke where they shouldn't. :-S THe worst thing was having to share so many of the tools and materials so we wasted a lot of time looking for things. Then when you got back to your seat something else you needed had disappeared. Everything is in the kiln they have there now and should be ready to collect on Wednesday.

We have the Canada geese here Mel. they spend a lot of time on the lake and banks at the office park half a mile away and seem to go on practice flights ready for migration straight down our driveway and over our cars, leaving horrid messages behind for us to clean off. They are noisy too and we hear them every night at times. I hope your roads weren't too icy for fetching your scripts Mel.

That's good things are improving Frank. I expect it will make you feel a lot better. I wonder what sort of hat Ros will knit for Buddie and will it have ear holes? I expect that is a film OH will want to go and see too.

Gill you don't want sheets of ice near your gate do you. It does sound as if the work is going to drag on longer like you thought it would. Yes, OH is the same with some sweets that he hides and pops on the conveyor belt last minute at the supermarket!! I'm always suspicious when he says he will unpack the shopping when we get home as I think there's something he doesn't want me to see!! lol.

Afternoon all,

We've had snow showers on and off this morning ,one minute the suns shining and we have lovely blue sky then it's snowing again ,not so cold today though .

Frank that's good things are moving in the right direction ,you should feel a bit more comfortable soon ,it's not nice when you get so bunged up .
Buddie the Bull dog !!! i love it :-D hope Ros can find a pattern for his hat .

I wonder how Ann is getting on in the Fused glass workshop today ,the last things she made were lovely ,hope she remembered to take a few plasters for any cuts .

That's good Richard got home ok last night with all the snow about ,sounds as if you've had quite a bit Anne .

Good that your snow has cleared a bit so you can get the scrips Mel .

I wonder what the new neighbours will think about having to wait until March before they can move in .
Good job you mentioned the water coming through your side you could have ended up with quite a slippery patch there Gill .

I have a chicken ready to go in the oven for night ,all the veg are done just got to mix a little Paxo stuffing .

Good morning all

Frank, pleased to hear things have been set in motion. Hope Ros manages to get a pattern for the French bulldog, I would have thought a hoody would be better. They are very small dogs, Ruby sometimes gets taken for one although they are chunkier in build than Bostons. I hope you get the RAC membership sorted out.

Richard got home about 11.30 last night, he said Reading had hardly any snow surprising as its only 20 mins away on the train, it had just stopped snowing here then and this morning his footsteps were showing so no more snow after that. He got a taxi home from the station but it had to drop him off by Sainsbury's because the police had blocked the road off,

It's a lovely sunny day here but still very cold.

Jane should have good weather in London for meeting her brother, hope she has a good catch up and is keeping warm.

I would like to see the film "Mary Queen of Scots" but will wait until it comes out on DVD.

Morning Gill, Mel, and all.

Iffy sort of night again last night. Was up at 6.00 am Nice to sit with my pillows behind me, better than lying down.

I have rung Jonathan to ask if he can sort out my RAC membership purchase with the Tesco Vouchers. I just don't seem to be able to do it. He will pop round later.

Ros is going to the Cinema this afternoon with Carolyn to see "MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS" It's suppose to be a good film, so hope they enjoy it

Not keeping up with the posts has left me high and dry. I din't know about Jane meeting her brother, I just noticed your post Mel.

Well with all this medicine I am taking, it's set things in MOTION. I just hope I don't get caught short. Thank GAWD the toilet is close by. !!!!

Clear blue sky's here today, there is still some snow lying around from yesterday. You know the old saying. "IT'S waiting for more snow to come."

Simon has emailed asking if Ros can knit a hat for BUDDIE their French Bulldog.I have asked if he has a pattern, which I doubt they have. So they will have to pick a pattern on line and let Ros know. I can't beleve they want a HAT for a BULL DOG

:-0 :-0 :-0, Everybody to their own. ;-) ;-) ;-)

I haven't heard from anyone regarding my sister, who came out of Hospital yesterday. I won't ring her, in case she's on her own, and struggles to get to the phone.

Keep warm folks, whatever you are doing today, if like me, NOT A LOT. xxxx

Morning Gill and all,

We have brilliant sunshire here today and blue skies and I hope it lasts as I have to go to Holsworthy to pick up our scripts and do the egg delivery and get the paper.

There is still snow about in the garden but not much just where th sun don't shine.

Better get on as I hav'nt let the big girls out yet.

Frank I hope you are feeling a bit better today and that you had a good sleep last night.

Nice day for Jane to see her brother and I hope she keeps nice and warm. She'll have a great day as its a while since she saw him. I hope she gets us some pics so we can put a face to him when she talks about him.

Is everyone else alright?

Gillx Report 2 Feb 2019 09:07

Morning all

Cold and dry here today. We haven't had anymore snow for a few days but with it being so cold it's all still on the grass and patio. The ice on the kitchen window finally softened up a bit so I knocked it off so no one caught themselves on it. At one point it was very hard so it might of ripped coats if we walked past it to closely.

I hope it's not to cold when you go for your train later Jane. Have a great time with your brother, I know how much you have been looking forward to it. Thomas had the right idea curling up in front of the fire.

How are you feeling today Frank, I hope your tum is feeling a little better, maybe you could try eating some oranges or other fruits to help you go to the loo. Don't go over doing things with your ribs, give them some more time to heal, you don't want to delay the healing process do you? I hope you're in less pain today.

I had to smile when your said your OH sneakily put a Tudor book through the till Ann. I'm like Anne, it's my favourite period of history too.

It sounds like Ruby's had a brilliant time running around in the snow Anne, I bet it was funny to watch? Did Richard make it home okay last night? I hope the weather wasn't to bad for his journey.

Pleased to see the snow is melting on your solar panels Mel, I didn't think about it stopping the sun getting to them, at least they'll earn you some money now and charge up nicely for you to.

I had a word with Carl, one of the workmen, yesterday as when he cleans everywhere down the water is coming underneath our side fence and making a puddle right where the gate is, of course in this cold weather it keeps freezing over and is quite slippy, so he said he'd be more careful from now on. The poor lad didn't realise how much was coming our way. He said he wouldn't be next door for the next week, so the boss must of put him on another job. He also said he was freezing, fed up of doing next door and couldn't wait for it to be finished. I asked when the new neighbours were moving in and he thinks it might be the end of March now, I think it's more likely going to be April as there is still lots to do. I think if anyone turns up today it'll just be the plasterers. Apparently they've still got a blower in the rooms that got damaged with the rain, although I'd of thought they would of took the ceiling down and started again if it's sagged as much as they say it has. So that's the update of next door. With all the ice around I can't see the roofer coming back any time soon either.

We had proper geese where I grew up, I use to call them "the pecker leg boys" I was about 4 at the time. When I met Peter his Mum & Dad had about 3 of them they were surprised that I wasn't bothered about them unlike most visitors to their home.

Ann, your OH is the same as me when it comes to books and I would have bought the book on the Tudors my favourite period of history

It's still snowing quite big flakes

Evening All,

Still no snow here and no frost on the car or rooftops this morning. At least I didn't have to scrape though. The cats were in their favourite spots fast asleep when I arrived, except for Chloe, the new one, who was out and about as usual.

After lunch we went to a garden centre and I bought a few cards and OH sneaked a book through the checkout when he thought I wasn't looking. It was only £2 and about The Tudors! lol.

I recorded the Fred West prog but lost it when the sKY box froze. :-S I had 6 things recording at the same time earlier and all of those failed as well. :-S

Jane, I'm like you and feel so hampered by bulky coats. I hope it's not too draughty at the stations. I went out with just my cardigan on this morning, but put a coat on to go out this afternoon. Will you be meeting up for a meal and chat? I meant to ask before, does he look anything like you? :-D

Mel I never thought about the snow stopping the sun getting to your panels, but there's no way you can stop it is there. I have a pot of gesso but have never used it yet as I'm not sure what to do with it! I suspect I should mix it with my paint to create texture, but really don't know.

Good news on your eyes Anne and that you needn't be seen for another 12 months.

It would be deadly for the roofers in the weather you are having Gill as you say. At leas they are getting on inside though which is good.

It sounds like you need to give your ribs a good rest now Frank as they are sore and uncomfortable. It sounds like the constipation is making you feel sickly so it's good advice about drinking plenty. Not being able to move around much won't be helping in that department either.

I had a letter from the surgeon today about my appointment a fortnight ago. Well, there is a list of about 6 things wrong with my knees!! No wonder they have been hurting. The only good thing seemed to be the range of flexion.........must be down to all the exercises I do from the book Jane let me borrow years ago!

I just packed me a salad, yoghurt and apple to take for lunch to the fused glass workshop tomorrow. It starts earlier than before and my friend is picking me up. I haven't a clue what I shall do but have a few ideas. It depends on what the teacher is looking for us to do as well, but we are hoping we can do our own thing! :-)

Anne Report 1 Feb 2019 19:30

Good evening All

When I got up this morning it had snowed over night and there was about 3 inches laid on the road, this was at 6.45 and because we are at the end of a cul de sac it hadn't been disturbed by anything. Ruby had a lovely time playing in the snow around the pond and back several times. Jane you mentioned that you couldn't place where we live, it's East Berkshire about half way between Reading and Windsor, with the M4 and M3 close by. Richard has gone to Reading this evening to see a tribute band so hope he gets back ok as it has been snowing again.

Like Mel ,l was also thinking prunes for your problem Frank, you can get prune juice as well which should also help..

Hope you enjoy your meet up with your brother Jane and manage to keep warm. Does he have far to come?

There are always Canadian Geese this time of the year on the front Lake where I worked.

Evening all,

A nice bright day here today we just had a sprinkling of snow this morning but it's all gone now as the day has been a bit warmer .

Frank perhaps your trying to do to much too soon ,i should think just moving your arms would pull on your ribs ,have you got to go back to the hospital so they can check your lungs and ribs ?
Like Jane says drink plenty it will help to soften things to pass .

I think you should be ok tomorrow weather wise Jane i don't think it should be as cold , hope you enjoy your catch up with your brother .
I see the Fred and Rose West programme was pulled last night because of Legal Reasons .

We have some geese go over some times my word the racket they make ,i think people use to have them as burglar alarms as if anyone was about they would start up.

Some thing i thought of last night was years ago you could get things
" On Approval " you don't hear of that now .
I remember mum getting things On Approval and then taking back what she didn't want .
