Evening All,

Still no snow here and no frost on the car or rooftops this morning. At least I didn't have to scrape though. The cats were in their favourite spots fast asleep when I arrived, except for Chloe, the new one, who was out and about as usual.

After lunch we went to a garden centre and I bought a few cards and OH sneaked a book through the checkout when he thought I wasn't looking. It was only £2 and about The Tudors! lol.

I recorded the Fred West prog but lost it when the sKY box froze. :-S I had 6 things recording at the same time earlier and all of those failed as well. :-S

Jane, I'm like you and feel so hampered by bulky coats. I hope it's not too draughty at the stations. I went out with just my cardigan on this morning, but put a coat on to go out this afternoon. Will you be meeting up for a meal and chat? I meant to ask before, does he look anything like you? :-D

Mel I never thought about the snow stopping the sun getting to your panels, but there's no way you can stop it is there. I have a pot of gesso but have never used it yet as I'm not sure what to do with it! I suspect I should mix it with my paint to create texture, but really don't know.

Good news on your eyes Anne and that you needn't be seen for another 12 months.

It would be deadly for the roofers in the weather you are having Gill as you say. At leas they are getting on inside though which is good.

It sounds like you need to give your ribs a good rest now Frank as they are sore and uncomfortable. It sounds like the constipation is making you feel sickly so it's good advice about drinking plenty. Not being able to move around much won't be helping in that department either.

I had a letter from the surgeon today about my appointment a fortnight ago. Well, there is a list of about 6 things wrong with my knees!! No wonder they have been hurting. The only good thing seemed to be the range of flexion.........must be down to all the exercises I do from the book Jane let me borrow years ago!

I just packed me a salad, yoghurt and apple to take for lunch to the fused glass workshop tomorrow. It starts earlier than before and my friend is picking me up. I haven't a clue what I shall do but have a few ideas. It depends on what the teacher is looking for us to do as well, but we are hoping we can do our own thing! :-)

Good evening All

When I got up this morning it had snowed over night and there was about 3 inches laid on the road, this was at 6.45 and because we are at the end of a cul de sac it hadn't been disturbed by anything. Ruby had a lovely time playing in the snow around the pond and back several times. Jane you mentioned that you couldn't place where we live, it's East Berkshire about half way between Reading and Windsor, with the M4 and M3 close by. Richard has gone to Reading this evening to see a tribute band so hope he gets back ok as it has been snowing again.

Like Mel ,l was also thinking prunes for your problem Frank, you can get prune juice as well which should also help..

Hope you enjoy your meet up with your brother Jane and manage to keep warm. Does he have far to come?

There are always Canadian Geese this time of the year on the front Lake where I worked.

It did melt off the panels Jane. Its still melting out there at the mo as I can see it dripping off the end of the cover over the patio.

Evening all,

A nice bright day here today we just had a sprinkling of snow this morning but it's all gone now as the day has been a bit warmer .

Frank perhaps your trying to do to much too soon ,i should think just moving your arms would pull on your ribs ,have you got to go back to the hospital so they can check your lungs and ribs ?
Like Jane says drink plenty it will help to soften things to pass .

I think you should be ok tomorrow weather wise Jane i don't think it should be as cold , hope you enjoy your catch up with your brother .
I see the Fred and Rose West programme was pulled last night because of Legal Reasons .

We have some geese go over some times my word the racket they make ,i think people use to have them as burglar alarms as if anyone was about they would start up.

Some thing i thought of last night was years ago you could get things
" On Approval " you don't hear of that now .
I remember mum getting things On Approval and then taking back what she didn't want .

Afternoon All
Sorry you are feeling icky and sore Frank.Maybe you have been doing too much too soon. Are you drinking plenty of fluids? You need to keep well hydrated as that will help bowel wise too. You might just be feeling a bit sick because you haven't been to the loo for a few days.

We had a fair bit of snow overnight but it has almose all gone now. It is just the back lawn that has frozen snow left.It snowed a bit too this morning . Mel I hope it melts off your solar panels soon.
Gill it sounds a lot more icy up your way than here.I dont think we have had any ice on the windowsills.
I am not surprised the roofers havent been working. It would be lethal for them at the moment.

I have been trying to think what to wear tomorrow .I know it is still going to be very cold but I just hate being wrapped up too much. The only place i think I will really feel cold will be on the station platform waiting for the train. Then once in London it is only a 5 minute walk outside to the restaurant. So I think I will just wear my Coatigan with a warm scarf tucked in down the front. My top is quite thin so the scarf will keep my tum warm :-D. At least it is not an early start in the morning. The train is at 11.

Mel do the Canada Geese ever come to your garden? They make such a mess with their huge poos :-S There is a big flock of them down at Wicksteed Park at the moment.Although they are lovely to see its not good for the visitors walking around and trying to dodge all the mess :-S.

Does anyone watch Cold Feet? I thought this last episode was brilliant .
Fred and Rosemary West programme was not on last night even though it was advertised.

Anne that was good news on your Diabetic Eye test. All must be really good if you don't have to have a check again for 12months :-D. Have you had snow? I can never picture exactly where you are !. But I think I heard it might have been quite bad your way.

I had better go now and sort a few things. I have spent ages looking at cookers again on line and am still no further forward :-S I will plod on .
Thomas has just come in from the cold and is sat in front on the fire having a good wash :-D

You'll have to have some prunes Frank. They slip down nicely. A drop of custard or rice with them would be nice. Drink plenty of water that will help.

We had smoked mackeral at lunch tine today again and it was very nice. Homemade soup and bread and butter and some walnuts to stop indigestion.

A lot of the snow has gone now but there's still some on the grass here and there and its on the car roof still. It had all slid off the solar panels when I went round to corn the chickens.

I hope we don't get anymore tonight as I have to go for our scripts tomorrow to Holsworthy.

Oh is watching the back of his eyelids and I hav'nt done anything in the way of housework today at all. Only wash up and make the bed.

Have been working on my Harry Potter candles as I did'nt have the right paint for them only poster paint and it dos'nt cover the glue or the writing on the drums I have used for the smaller candles. I tried to make some Gesso but with the poster paint again instead of acrylic and that worked a bit. I shall have to shell out for some acrylic paint but I wanted to see if the poster would work first. Its an expensive month what with the tax and then the house insurance and the water pipe insurance which all come in February.

Don't know where the rest of them are Frank. Hav'nt heard from anyone but you and Gill first thing.

Frank

Frank Report 1 Feb 2019 15:25

Afternoon to you all, I thought I had better pop in to let you see we are alright.

I have had a lot of discomfort from my ribs today, and felt GIDDY and SICKY. Horrible when I keep going to the sink thinking I am going to be sick. It's also three days since I have been to the toilet, even thought I am taking the medicine and tablets to help me.

I had cereal for breakfast and a milky coffee at lunchtime, just not HUNGRY. Poor old Ros keeps trying me with things that I would normally scoff down, and all I am doing is picking it over. Not sure what we are having tonight.

Snowed here during the night and this morning, but it's all gone now. Lets hope it stays away.

Haven't caught up with the posts. SORRY.

The suns out here. The solar panels are covered in snow so we are not getting any sun on those so not getting any money today.

Morning Gill and all,

Yes snows still here this mroning but I hav'nt been out yet. Its not snowoing now and last night there were very few flakes falling when I went to bed. Its all on the trees and oh woke me up and asked if I wanted to see it before it falls off the trees.

Took a few pics through the window and the pheasents saw me so I went and gave them some corn and the snow is melting. Its not as thick as it was last night and some patches of grass are showing this morning.

Its a bit windy and that very cold too.

The Canada Geese are down the lake and I can hear them making a racket.

Gillx Report 1 Feb 2019 09:23

Morning all

Very cold again today and the hail and snow is still on the ground, it's very slippy out there and the ice on the window sills are growing by the minute. It does look strange as the window sills are almost double the size now. I can't see anything melting anytime soon either. The roofers weren't here yesterday and up to now they haven't arrived today. I don't blame them as it would be to dangerous to climb up there in this weather. The last time they were here they were slipping all over the place including on the scaffolding, so I'm not sure when they'll be back. Everyone else is here working away on jobs inside, but I still can't see the neighbours moving in by the middle of the month as there's far to much to do, the lantern light is on the new extension and I can here the workmen inside putting up the ceiling, at least that did that job in the right order lol.

I can't believe we're in February already, it only seems like five minutes since Christmas.

Oh I see Mel, no I don't have that problem with my small build, I only weigh about 8 and a half stone, or maybe a bit more, so I'm just a tiny little thing.

Did you get anymore snow last night. Sandra loved the pictures and wants to know if you're going to build a snowman. She said if you do can she see a picture please? I did tell her it might be to cold for you though.

I found some more information for my family tree last night so I'm going to go through it now and try and figure out where it all fits into my tree.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 31 Jan 2019 22:46

Its still snowing but only a little now and tiny flakes.

Gill its not that the wire comes out under your arm its just that they dig in under your arm when you have a bigger bust. The one I have with the half wire it is flat and quite wide so dos'nt come through. If they put a wide end on them they would'nt come out. They are probably designed by men who have no idea the problems they cause.

Hope you get to beading tomorrow Ann and be careful if its frosty or slippy.

Anne that was a nice result for your test and another year before the next one too. Perfick.

I don't seem to have got anything done today not even any craft. I just kept doing the chickens and bantams and watching the snow. I brought the drinker down to the house from the big girls as I thought it was safer to be able to fill it for tomorrow without it being iced up if it freezes tonight or in the early hours as it sometimes does.

It sounds like we are the only ones with snow at the moment and it was nice sticky stuff too. I was thinking of Sandra when I cleared some off of a plastic thing in the garden today as it all stuck together well and I could have made a snowman if my hands were'nt so cold but I just wanted to get back inside in the warm.

Evening all

Love the pics Mel, your garden looks like ours now, we've had frozen hail and snow on the grass for days, we even have ice coming out over the window sills and also the greenhouse roof. OH said it was -4 in the car this morning when he went out. It's really cold outside now, colder than it's been all week. I don't think we're due for any snow, looking at the weather it's all going to be further down south from us. How much snow have you got now Mel?
Loved the joke your OH told........very funny ;-)

We have the same problem as you Ann with our Sky box and have to unplug it and plug it back in. The other day the hail was so bad it kept flickering and the picture and sound were going off, it's a nuisance when that happens as you can't keep track of the programme your watching.

I hope you managed to get Thomas in okay Jane, I know how much you worry about him and with the weather being so cold you'll probably worry more if he's out all night. We've just seen the big cat we call Thomas walking along our fence, he must be freezing, OH said he nearly slipped off with all the frozen snow on the top, luckily he didn't. He's very fluffy like your Thomas so hopefully he won't be to cold.

I went to put my new bra on today and couldn't understand why it didn't fit, then when I looked at the label I'd only bough a whole size to small.....silly me. I wear the underwired ones which I find okay, although after a while they do make their way out of the fabric, mine come out in the front rather than under the arm. A quick stitch in the fabric soon pops it back in place though.

Pleased to see your results were good Anne and that you don't have to see them again for a year.

I forgot about Fred and Rosemary West, but have a feeling I may of recorded it on another system I have, I'll check later as I have a programme on pause at the moment that OH and Sandra want to watch, so I'd better go and press play.

Anne Report 31 Jan 2019 21:07

So far no snow here but it is forecast for tonight, it did seem warmer when I went out to feed the birds earlier. Mel it looks like you have had quite a lot has it snowed anymore since your photos? Had to smile at your OH's joke when he came in from the cold Brass Monkeys came to mind

Good idea keeping Thomas in Jane, we have a cat flap in the kitchen door but our two don't go out at night when it's cold. Their choice. I would love to have seen the horses having fun this morning, we do see them sometimes over at Swinley Forest but they always come in horse boxes so not sure where from,

Mandy I have a photo taken in the early 1940's where the dress I was wearing had a Peter Pan collar and slightly puffed short sleeves it was taken with my Mum and Dad took it all through the war in the desert with him.

A friend who lives near St Austell in Cornwall sent some photos of the snow fall there , it looked as if it had been snowing for a while

I've never worn an underwired bra but I can imagine it could be uncomfortable I'm small busted but since the cancer op I only go for comfort anyway..

Had the results of the diabetic eye screening back today all ok at the moment and they will see me again in a year.

We had a Chinese meal tonight courtesy of Sainsbury who did their weekly delivery this morning.

Ann I reckon your dream about having 5pence pieces in your mouth must have been to do with your visit to the dentist with your dodgy tooth .You might have been subconsciously thinking about the cost if you had to have work done on it !

I am off to bed shortly to watch the Fred and Rosemary West programme so night night from me.
Hannah and Gareth are at the theatre in London seeing the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night . Chris and i saw it a few years ago and thought it was brilliant.
Gareth just messaged to say they are in the interval and are really enjoying it.

I'll have to look at those half wired bras Mel, I didn't even know you could get them. Your pic is really snowy isn't it! :-) I wonder how much you will have by morning? Still nothing here although OH said this morning it should be coming here overnight. I hope it isn't too deep first thing as I shall be off to my friends for beading. The car will be fine, just my dodgy pins getting from the car into the house. :-)

It would be a shame if Janice can't do the trip and treat for Rachel Jane. There's always the worry about getting back if it keeps snowing too.

OH has come up with some ideas for his birthday......a filofax as his old one is barely holding together, new dressing gown, portable radio and dare I say it.....a couple of BOOKS!!! lol :-0

I've just arranged to go to a meeting at the research hospital. I hadn't been to any last year, but will have had my knee injection by then so should manage ok. It's about diets and to do with the body's circadium rythm, whether you are a morning or afternoon person and they are looking at when to eat to lose weight might be best for different people.

Better sort my things for tomorrow now and catch up with some telly.

Still snowing but the flakes are smaller now. Its still very cold out and oh went out for a ciggy and came in and said "Be careful how you go out there" I said "why has the snow blown in?" and he said "No you might tread on my willy cos it justd ropped off".

Jane Report 31 Jan 2019 19:17

Mandy we just had a little fog this morning but it soon cleared. It's looking less likely for snow here now. I am just thankful we are not suffering the same weather that is affecting parts of America !.That is just unimaginable :-S
