Hope the spag bol turns out ok.

I have been to Holsworthy to get some hinges for the gate in the frames and oh wanted some T plates to put the frames together with but they don't stock them in our MOle Valley so I had to order them. A nuisance though which means another trip in to Holsworthy.

Hope Frank feels better after a good snooze this afternoon.

Need a drink now before I shut the girls in for the night or I may make it after I have done them then I don't have to go out in the cold anymore.

Its been sunny most of the day but really cold with it and no wind.

I got my pictures taken for my new licience today in the travel shop. They are awful like prison photos. I had to take my glasses off and not smile and then I got the giggles. Trust me........ the lady who took the pics was very good though. When I showed them to oh he said he has never seen any photos like those of me and he said they did'nt look anything like me. Anyway all done now and £5 lighter.

Afternoon All
Frank I hope you feel better after a but of a sleep. Maybe things are just catching up on you now.You have been through an awful lot and havint the worry about Ros too.

That was lucky Gill ,that whatever was in your eye was flushed out when you rinsed it. It must feel a lot easier now for you. Any develpoment on any bother next door? I hope it has all been quite and nothing for to you have got yourself worried about.

Mel I can imagine that the Chicken Frames would weigh quite a bit and not easy for you to help move. I am sure what with all your various vehicles of one sort or another you will manage to find a way with OH to move them when needed.Maybe have them made on little wheels :-D :-D

Ann, I hope you manage to get that last week free in May for your holiday. Would you go in June or leave it until maybe a bit later in the year?

James's meal was lovely. I am not sure it actually had a name but it was Puy Lentils, with Spinach,Carrot and Asparagus all mixed in with a spicy !! Chicken Breast that he had been marinading . The Chicken was a bit on the spicy side for me but there was a pot of nice plain yoghurt to pop on the chicken to help cool those spices.(It worked a treat :-D) It was actually a very healthy meal

I have made a Spag Bol in the Slow Cooker today(obviously not the spaghetti :-)) This is a new one for me. :-D

We went to get a few bits just in case the weather turns a bit nasty , I think we should have a bit of snow tomorrow night .

All good at the vets ,Max had lost a little weight so that was good and all stocked up with Flea and Wormer for the next three months .

Oh Frank did you have a bad night ?

So your girls are having new frames then Mel they will be all posh but what is it with men thinking us ladies can hump things about like we use to , Colin loads the barrow up some times and no way can I push it like I us to .

So your after more beads Ann ,have you many unfinished things ?
When I do my knitting if I find some nice wool I always want to start with the new before I've finished what I'm knitting .

No snow this afternoon but it's really cold in the wind .

I have to get oh to make my speakers work on my pc if I hav'nt used them for a long while. Its so annoying is'nt Ann?
I am now leaving them on but turned right down as when I look at tutorials for things to make I need to hear what some of them are saying.

OH has started to make the new frames for a new chicken run. He decided that if he makes frames it will be better to move the whole thing over to a new patch of grass.
He is expecting me to move the frames with him. I don't know if I am strong enough now. Once they have the wire netting on they are going to be ever so heavy. I shall have to have ym end on the sack barrow I think. He dos'nt think he can handle the plonker plonker now to get the post in the ground. This way we can move the run back and fourth for them to have a fresh bit of grass after a few month. We will see!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He moves the house with the digger.

Morning All,

Lovely sunshine here too. :-) I'm glad your eye is ok Gill, it does sound like something had gone into it that you managed to wash out. At least it saved you having to get it looked at. Yes, keep out of the way of all of the workmen/boss today!

I should finish another necklace I started months ago later today! I want to do a matching bracelet, but need to order some more beads after I've done a count up of what I have left over.

I need to book our Cornwall trip too as there is only one week left available in May that isn't a bank holiday week! It will be busy then, lots of children in the lodges and is much more expensive so I want to avoid that.

I have just had a marathon printing session doing stuff for OH. Every time we get his laptop working with the printer, it is fine for a few days then goes wrong again and he has to send stuff to me to print for him which takes me ages! :-| :-|

Off to get the papers and a few bits now.

Morning all,

Glad your eye feels better now Gill ,perhaps you got a little bit off the shrub under your eyelid and the drops rinsed it out ,it's bound to feel sore for a day or two.
I remember I had a bit go in my eye when I was having a clean I think I was brushing some thing and a bit flew in ,I had to go to the doctors and they put some thing on the eye lid to turn it up and over and got the bit out .

Bright here at times and we've had snow showers too ,blooming cold out ,we've got to take Max to the vets for his six month Check up this afternoon and I need more flea tablets and wormer tablets .

Hope you had another good night Frank.

Mel those candles look good don't they ,as Ann said it would be nice to make one for
Christmas .

How did the meal go last Jane was it nice ?

Morning Gill and all,

Sunshine here too but I hav'nt ventured out yet to see if its cold or not. I expect it is though. I can still see the moon out of the bedroom window.

I must have a tidy up today. My desk is in a mess and I have to go and get a passport photo taken for my driving licience.

I too hope Frank had a better nights sleep. Each day is closer to a full recovery Frank. Love to Ros too.

Gillx Report 28 Jan 2019 09:35

Morning all

Sunny but cold here today, at least the wind has died down now, it was terrible yesterday.

My eye is a lot better, I didn't need to go to the hospital in the end. I gave it another good rinse and put in a few eye drops, when the eye drops went in, something came out of my eye, I don't know what it was but I felt it fall along the side of my nose, as soon as that happened the pain went. It's a bit sore today, but a lot better than it was.

Love the pics you sent Mel, what a lovely one of those tiny birds, I'll show Sandra later when she wakes up, I'm sure she'll love them to.

How did James's meal go Jane, what did he cook for you all? You were brave going around to the bungalow, you were lucky there wasn't a burglar there, I dread to think what might of happened. Pleased to see it was a false alarm and you are both okay.

Jake sounds like he loves his new job and of course his wages Mandy. Once he gets used to it there'll be no stopping him and hopefully he'll have another paper round during the week as well. Is there anything he has in mind that he'd like to buy for himself yet? I remember when I had my first job, I'd mentally spent my first weeks wages before I'd even got it LOL.

What an interesting story about travellers baptising there children so they were'n't stolen Ann, I didn't realise they were at risk like that.

It sounds like you're having better sleep now the stitches are out Frank, I hope you had another good nights sleep last night.

The roofers are here, OH is out all day today so I don't want to get involved in any rows between men, Sandra and I will stay in doors out of the way where it's safe and watch a couple of films I recorded last night.

Going to get a cuppa and pop the fire on, it's not very warm in here even though the heating is on. It takes a while for this property to warm up, so it should be nice and warm by the time Sandra gets up.

Annx Report 27 Jan 2019 19:45

Oh dear Gill, that must be painful too. You can't be too careful with eyes so that sounds a good idea. You may just have scratched the surface, but might need antibiotics.

What lovely little birds they are Mel. We hardly ever see them here and you did well to get a pic.......they are moving all the time! Those crosses don't look easy to make. I was trying to work out where the folded bits emerge again!! lol.

I wonder how James' meal turned out.

Soon be CTM time so I'd better get sorted ready. :-)

Evening all

I've injured my eye so I'm having problems seeing properly, my eye keep watering and hurts when it's open.

The wind was so strong today our tall 12 foot red robin fell over, while I was helping OH pick it up a branch slid across my eyeball and now it's burning and very sore. If it doesn't get any better in the next hour I'll nip to the hospital and have it checked out.

I haven't read any posts so hope everyone is okay.

I'll try and get back on here tomorrow if I can see better.

Annx

Annx Report 27 Jan 2019 14:57

Afternoon All,

Bitterly cold wind blowing here so my hat has been out today.

I hope the meal James is cooking isn't too spicy! I think there's been a real shift the past 12 months to more spicy things on restaurant menus, that and burgers of every description. It makes me feel old as I remember older folk saying they liked 'plain cooking' when I was young......now it's me saying it with all the spicy food!! lol.

Gill, it sounds like trouble brewing now with another neighbour not happy about something with the building job. I would stay in and not get involved as well.

I found just the same when I was looking for a fridge freezer last year Jane......none of the shops had the models on display that I wanted to look at. You need to check when something has to fit in a space how the door opens and I like proper handles on a fridge freezer, but it matters how much they stick out if it is in a corner. It seems silly you can't see before you buy. I prefer an electric oven too, but like a gas hob for speed, it's handy if there is a power cut. Are you looking for a self cleaning oven this time? Mine saves a lot of work, but doesn't do the racks sadly. :-S I had to smile at the thought of you as 'Vera' with the other neighbour doing a snoop and on CCTV too!!! lol.

I think that sounds a good price on your insurance with breakdown cover Mandy. I think the bonfire in the churchyard was wood and debris they had been clearing up, but it was obviously very wet with all the smoke coming from it. An early start for Jake then. I hope it wasn't as windy as here! Good idea for him to learn the round with another lad. It's a great way for him to build his confidence too. I was too shy to be brave enough to do it, so well done for stepping out of his comfort zone! It was good his dad is prepared to get up and go with him after the three weeks too, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's happy to go on his own by then. :-) I bet his face was a picture when he was handed his money!

I hope your mouth feels less sore today Mel and that the runny eye is better. The candle video is interesting.......you do find some good things to try! I'd have never thought of using a glue gun for drips like that. I might try doing a Christmas table decoration candle like it next Christmas. I don't like using real candles inside now after all the warnings about the harmful vapours they give off.

You sound a lot perkier today Frank now you are a 'new man' and had a better night. :-) I was surprised when I first found out that travellers usually had their children baptised as I didn't think they would bother! Apparently their children were at risk of being stolen by rich, childless couples who would pay someone to take them. Having a baptism certificate was proof they were theirs. Your dinner sounds tasty!!

O well a VERY HAPPY UNBIRTHDAY TO CHRIS THEN.

No I hav'nt had anything from Hannah Jane and did you remember to give her the GARTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still blowing a gale here but we have some sunshine too which makes it a bit better. I wore THE HAT when I went to feed the girls this morning as my ususal hats just would'nt have stayed on.

Its getting a bit chilly now the suns gone round a bit and we have had our big breakfast so I think I will turn the heating back on for a bit.

Going back to my Harry Potter Candles now.

Jane Report 27 Jan 2019 12:24

I think that is a really good idea Jake having someone with him for the next couple of weeks Mandy. He is only young and as you say if he is a bit lacking in confidence then it will be a big help to be shown the ropes so to speak . I expect he has warmed up and dried off now and maybe had a nice breakfast :-D

Mel It is not Chris's Birthday today . It is on Tuesday. But as James will be working late and we are out for lunch on Tuesday he said he would cook today.

Frank I am so glad you had a good and comfortable sleep. No dont touch the dressing .If there is just a little leakage but not actually coming right through the dressing It is just best left until you see the Nurse on Tuesday. Your Dinner is going to be delicious :-D. I still dont know what James is cooking other than it is Chicken something.

Just after I posted earlier the phone rang and it was my neighbour 2 doors down. She thought that someone might have tried breaking in at the bungalow in between us. They are away in Vietnam . So I said I would go with her to check .I think the wind had just blown open the shed door and another outside door by the swimming pool. The bolt on that door was rubbish and I couldn't get it to bolt as it was all out of line. We checked all the doors and windows to the bungalow and all looked fine. I think they have cameras as they have had break ins before when they have been away,so Norma and i will probably be seen creeping around peering in the windows and trying all the doors LOL . So I have done my VERA or Hetty Wainright thing today :-D

The sky looks stormy and the wind is blowing. It almost looks like it could snow but I dont think that is forecast until maybe Tuesday if at all.
I got some Blood Oranges which I will juice and freeze as I remembered a recipe I did with chicken and Blood Oranges . It was really nice. But Blood oranges are only around for a few weeks so I grabbed a couple of bags while I had the chance.

Mel have you had anything in the post from Hannah?

Frank that was a good night's sleep for you last night ,you feel so much better when you've had a good night's sleep.

Just made some cheese scones for our lunch ,oh they look good .

Wind seems to be picking up now .

Good morning to you all,

I was in bed by 10.00 pm last night. Didn't feel Ros come to bed, and first woke at 5.00 am for the loo, Got back to bed and slept until 8,00 am. Ros came out soon after, and we sat and had tea and Marmalade on toast.

I have showered and shaved and feel like a new man. So nice to have the stitches out and know the dressing is in place and waterproof. I can see a slight stain under the dressing, but won't interfere with it. I will leave that to the nurse on Tuesday.

I have asked Ros to let me TRY to do dinner today. Roast Shoulder of lamb with all the various veg. I will roast it in the covered roasting tin, with root veg for the base for the gravy. I always put slices of garlic in the lamb, and cover it in a mint marinade. With a little water added to the veg, it makes a lovely gravy.

I remember my first paper round at 13 years old. I delivered to a local Mental Hospital. There were 5 packs of papers each holding around 40/50 papers. There was no way I could ride the TRADE BIKE with the carrier at the front, So had to push it up a very steep hill, and up a steep drive to the hospital kitchen. Then I jumped on my bike and glided back to the shop. There I picked up the 2nd round which was to the houses in the Dr. Barnado's home. That was a doddle after the other lot. And all that for FOUR BOB a week, seven days a week. I do hope Jake is being paid more than that, and that he enjoys doing it. With the better weather coming, he will love being out in the morning air. !!!.

So James is CHIEF CHEF. I bet you will be the BOTTLE WASHER Jane. lol lol.

Good luck to you Ann, trying to track down your Traveller relatives. It must be nie impossible. Did they have to register births, with the local registrar where they were living ?? or how did it go on. So intriguing to find out.

Gill, Keep you and Sandra well away from what goes on with the roofers. If there is going to be a FALL OUT. you are better out of the way.

Real gloomy day here, rain in the night, and everywhere dull this morning. I don't see any improvement coming any time soon. So, it's heating on, {Papers at the ready} and T.V controls on the arm of the chair. That's us for the day. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Enjoy whatever you are doing, see you soon. xxxx

Morning all,

We have high winds and sun and clouds and blue sky here and there. The wind keeps blowing the door open to the extractor fan and then the wind blow right on my back. So annoying.

Slept like a log and got up twice for the loo in the night and then slept till 11am.

Mandy she does a lot of Harry Potter things but she's a bit overwhelming. I wish I had ber energy but there again I probably did at her age.

Morning Jane,morning all,

Mel I will have a look at that later thanks.

Bright and very breezy here the sun keeps trying to break through but there's just to much cloud .

Son rang to say they wouldn't be round for coffee this morning as he has to pick some thing up what I don't know ,but he said Jake was up and about for his paper round at 6.30 ,he is with another boy for three weeks so he can learn the round then he will be on his own.
Son said he came in soaked through and frozen but pleased as punch with his money
even though he was learning and with another boy he still got his full money.
Son did say he wondered if he would do it as he really doesn't like the dark ,son said after the three weeks that he might go with him just to build his confidence ,he's not really a push his self forward type of boy he's very quiet and tends to hang back at
times so we are all really pleased he did it.

Not a lot happening here today ,I've put some washing in and had another hoover through its mainly Max's hair that needs picking up we don't really make that much mess .

Hope you managed to get a good night's sleep Frank .

What time is Jakes paper round Mandy? I bet he had to get up extra early this morning. Hopefully the rain had cleared and it has been dry for his first round. I expect he had a few butterflies in his tum :-D.He will be itching to spend his firat pay :-D :-D

I am going to have another cuppa and carry on with my book.I am desperate to get to the end of it and find out who the killer is.

No great plans for us today. James is off to Waitrose in while to get his ingredients for whatever he is cooking. I need a couple of bits so will get him to buy them for me .
