Evening all,
It's been dry today but the sky at times went so black i thought we would have the rain ,it should rain over night i think ,poor Jake might have a wet start for his paper round tomorrow. I got a few jobs done today ,a bit of ironing ,a good Hoover through ,oh and i made a few Fruit and Orange Buns .
Oh Anne that poor lady waking to find her OH had died beside her in the night ,I never met Colin's mum as she died like that in the night so upsetting for everyone.
Oh dear Gill it does sound as if there might be trouble brewing over the roof next door as Jane said i would just keep out of the way and don't get involved . Goodness what ever price was your car insurance quote if you saved nearly a thousand pound :-0
We had our insurance for the car through this week,it's due in Feb , it had gone up a little ,last year it was £301 and this year £327 it seems quite a bit but it does include breakdown cover too and i think that was about £86 ,i usually ring them and ask if they can better the price and they usually take a little off .
Jane i could due with a new cooker too ,i carn't remember how long we've had this one ,i had been looking at AO on line ,i would love one of the Range cookers but we would have to take a unit out to get it in . I like the Electric cookers never ever wanted a Gas one . I wonder what James will cook tomorrow for Chris's birthday :-)
Frank did you sleep a little better with the stitches out ? like Jane said perhaps the drain hole was left open in case there was a little more to drain out ,better it drains than having it stitched and infection sets in because it couldn't drain . I keep meaning to as how you got on with your birthday football match ? did you enjoy the day ?
What a shame you couldn't get to see all the lovely Snow Drops Ann ,what ever were they burning this time of the year ? I have a tiny glass vase with little glass snow drops in ,they were given to me from my friend that died .
Mel i'm just going to have a google to have a look at these Harry Potter candles you've been having a go at .

Afternoon All
The rain has just arrived here .I don't know if it is here to stay or what as i haven't seen the forecast.I just know it is going to getting colder from tonight.
Anne how awful for that poor lady to wake and find her OH had died in the night :-(. Such a terrible shock ,and he was so young too. It does sound as though he knew nothing and just went in his sleep . Mel I am like you and often listen to Chris sometimes to make sure he is breathing .If he seems to be taking a while for the next breath I give a little dig in his back .Then I settle down again .I remember too when the children were babies and if they hadnt woken for a feed I would be leaning over the cot to make sure all was well.
Frank,I wonder if it is your meds that are making your mouth dry like that. Maybe the Oramorph? Ialso wondered if the reason the drain hole wasnt stitched was just in case it was still maybe draining a little . That makes sense to me.
Oh crikey Gill. This roof is going to cause trouble by the sound of things. Its not just you that think things are not right but the neighbour on the other side too. I feel sorry for the new owner if the s*** is going hit the fan with the Boss !!. Watch this space eh??? You and Sandra will be fine I am sure. If you see or hear things getting a bit heated just stay indoors. :-)
Ann it must be frustrating trying to find info on your Traveller ancestors. I bet there will be some really interesting things :-D :-D . Shame you didnt get to see the Snowdrops at the Church with all the smoke . Maybe you will get another chance .I love Snowdrops .Ours are out now ,but I am not sure if it is my imagination or what but the flowers don't look as big as usual . I think a friend gave me these ones years back and am sure she said they were from Belgium.
I was out looking a Cookers this morning . What a waste of time that was. I think now with everything on line Currys just don't have so many in the shops. There were only 2 that would have been any good for me. There were plenty with Gas Hobs and Electric ovens and these double width ones. So I think I am going to have to take time and look at all on line :-S
Hope you manage to get a good deal on your car insurance Frank.Everything somehow seems to take so much thought and effort these days in buying anything (unless it is clothes :-D)
Tomorrow James is cooking a meal for Dad's birthday. I have no idea what but he says he knows what he will do. Tonights meal is a bit of a mish mash. Burgers,Sausages and Bubble and Squeak Cakes. I wont be having the sausages as they are Italian style and are too strong for my liking.
It is now pouring and Thomas was wanting out. He poked his nose out the back door and got no further. Can't say I blame him.

What a shame you couldn't see the snowdrops properly with the fire Ann, they would of made a lovely photo if you took your camera. Your FH sounds a bit complicated, it can't be easy trying to find travellers especially if they married each other and had a number of children together while moving around to different areas all the time. You're right though the 2 you mentioned might have been born in the same year, one at the beginning and one at the end. Good luck with it all. I hope you sorted it all out.
I'm having problems today, my router keeps going off and a message appears telling me that there are hackers......something to do with Google, so I've just gone onto Internet Explorer to see if that helps. The only problem is I bookmarked the information I found on Google so now I'm going to have to see if I can find the information again so I can save it on Internet Explorer instead. It's a bit of a nuisance as I found so much and really wanted to go through it all to put onto my tree today while it's quiet and I have nothing else to do. I hope I can find it all again.
When we got back from mum's the roofers were here, about an hour later OH was coming in, as he had to go out again and told me that the roofers had had enough and were going home. Apparently the neighbour on the other side is not very happy with the way the roof is being done, but all the roofer would tell OH was that the **** is going to hit the fan on Monday when the neighbour has a word with the boss. OH is out that day so I hope it doesn't get to bad as Sandra and I will be here on our own. The roofer wouldn't tell OH anything else about it so it must be bad. We noticed the neighbour talking with the roofer when we came home from mum's and neither of them looked very happy with the situation.
At least the bit of work the roofers did do today looks nice, they sorted out the felt they left hanging over the edge of the flat roof and it's looks much tidier now.

Car insurance is one of the worst for them giving all the best prices to new customers so it's best to keep moving to others. Mine isn't due till July so I don't know how much more it will be yet.
It's a nice feeling when your boiler is fixed and it should be ok for the winter now Frank. I can't believe how Ros bounces back so quickly and is up and out again! It's nice to get back to normal though.
I did some FH yesterday Gill. I had found some writings someone had done on the history of some of the traveller rellies. It isn't easy tracing some of them as each child can be born at a different place and there was quite a bit of cousins marrying other and one seems to have married his widowed aunt! I said to OH that I hoped my direct line wasn't as inbred when I dig into it more!! Also some of them use english or abbreviated versions of their romany names. One couple seems to have triplets, so I need to look into that as 2 of them may just have been born the same year.
I couldn't believe they had a big bonfire going in the churchyard where the Snowdrops are. The smoke was thick and dark and everywhere, even across the road and making a thick haze over the flowering bulbs in front of the Hall. A group of people were still piling what they'd cleared up on it so I gave up!! lol.

Its been raining here cats and dogs and some with sleet in and the winds up and blowing a gale. I was going to clean the chickens out this afternoon too but thats gone by the ball now as I am not standing out in this kind of weather for anyone. Its turned really cold to so I think I shall just do some more craft after I have sone the washing up from lunch.
Em's sister Sophie was there today so we had quite a nice natter and put the world to rights. Ed's mum is now moving more and has had the ?? thing in her neck taken out so is back to the pipe down her throat. She can mouth words but nothing comes out probably because of the pipe down her neck. She is on Antibiotics all the time. Right arm still not putting things where she wants it to but thats the arm with the broken collar bone which still has'nt healed yet. Neither have her ribs but Ed was pleased to se she can walk about a bit now.
No more news to give you as I did'nt see anyone down the shop this morning that I know. I did buy a couple more nice birthday cards to put in my box.
Still blowing my nose and my eye still runs down the side of my nose and my whole mouth feels sore today.

Pam next door called runs at 1.45 to see how we both are. She has just left, we have had a good old chat and a laugh. Makes you feel a bit better after that.
Rain has cleared away, and you can just see the sun going behind the clouds, getting ready to set. There is plenty of cloud around, so could get wet again later.
Still not decided on car insurance yet. Will spend a bit of time tomorrow looking at the comparison sites. Still got 3 weeks to decide.
Gill, I haven't been near my Family tree for such a long time. It's something I must do. There are so many changes, what with marriages, etc.
No doubt we will have a Takeaway tonight, just the matter of deciding which, and where from. We have plenty to choose from.
I thought West Ham were playing today, but can't find the game on the web.

I'd shop around for your car insurance Frank, I did that a few years ago and saved us almost £1000.00 I couldn't believe how much it had gone up, we had been with them for years....like you say no loyalty where money is concerned. Our insurance went up last year but I thought it was because we had a much bigger car when we bought a new one, so I'll see what they quote for this year and maybe have another look around for a better deal if I need to.
Pleased to see your boiler is fixed and serviced now.
It looks like we might be in for some rain, it's gone very dark. We've just come in from visiting mum and noticed the roofers were here, one was talking with the neighbour on the other side, no doubt about how the two roofs are going to meet in the middle, we said a quick hello and left them to it as we know neither of them are happy. It's nothing to do with us so we're keeping out of it.
So you need to find the ring Ann, I hope you have it done the way you want and it does't cost to much for you. Yes, we've noticed a clean car is always looked after better than a mucky one. Poor OH had to clean the inside of our car today he said it was thick in dust, we think it might have something to do with the kitchen and bathroom tiles being cut in next doors garden yesterday. I was quite surprised as the car was on the road not the drive, but I suppose dust gets everywhere does't it?
Going to get some lunch now then carry on with my family tree, I found a lot of information last night but it was late and we were going to bed, so I'm going to go through it all today and see if I can work out who they all are and where they fit into the tree.

For whatever reason I have a mouth like the bottom of a "BIRDS CAGE" All I have done is drink bottles of water. Now it will be back and forward to the loo..lol lol.
Started to rain here, but not cold. The girls are back from shopping. Martine stayed for a coffee, which made a change for her, as it's usually the other way round.
Boiler all fixed, service and new part, that's a good job out of the way. He was here for a good two hours and only charges £140.00 including Parts and labour.
It looks like the car insurance is going to be dearer this year. Have any of you found you are paying more this year. ??? It's only gone up a few ££££ but it's still an increase. I will look on other sites, to see if I can improve on the price. No Loyality when it comes to spending money. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Time for a bit of lunch and a coffee.

Morning All,
It was sunny earlier but it's gone in again now. :-S I think we are due rain later so I'd better do my errands next and save me a soaking.
Snowdrops! Aren't they lovely and a smashing hint of Spring around the corner. :-) I know a church not far away that usually has lots of them so I might do a detour to have a look while I'm out.
Mel, you seem to have your day sorted. I need to clean the ensuite, but have more cupboard sorting in here to do as well.
Mandy I expect Jake was so chuffed to get the paper round and will like having a bit of his own money! As you say, he may splurge it the first week, but will be able to save up for things to buy as well.
Gill I think you are right about workmen being more careful while you are around. It sounds daft, but I think when your car goes in the garage for work to be done they seem to be more careful with it if it is clean.
I might have a think about including the diamonds in the new ring as we had very little money with buying our bungalow at the time and I think they were quite small!! lol. The first job is to find where I have put the ring though! It came from one of the top jewellers in the city at the time and is where my silver charm bracelet was from too. The jeweller being in the heart of the old city was in a building that dates from 1500 and has an old roman tiled floor somewhere, but I never saw it! As it was a Roman town, every time they build something, they excavate and make lots of finds. In the new Revenue office I worked at for a couple of years there was a wall of photos of the Roman finds they made when building it.
Did you have a better night now the stitches are out Frank? I wonder why they didn't stitch the drain hole like the nurse said. I know when I had 2 drains when I had a hysterectomy they didn't stitch them, but maybe yours was a bigger drain if she thought it needed stitches. I hope you can make your medicine last.
What a horrid shock that would have been Anne, especially as it wasn't expected. The poor woman must have been in a terrible state and now she has the dilemma of a possible house move with being so remote. Much as I have always fancied living somewhere off the beaten track, I never would have done for the very reason you could be left on your own with no-one nearby. I would have loved to be a wildlife photographer though and it is such a shame he won't finish his book.

Good morning all, I posted last night letting you know I had my stitches out, BUT IT NEVER WENT THROUGH. Anyway, the nurse was quite concerned that the Dr at the hospital hadn't stitched up the drain plug hole. She took my stitches out and dressed the area. I have to go back Tuesday to have them changed again.
Pete the plumber is here, servicing the boiler and replacing a part. MORE EXPENSE. lol lol. Will be a good job done for the winter.
Martine has picked Ros up to go shopping. Ros is not allowed to drive until next week, even though she feels quite able to do so. Something to do with not being covered with insurance after the procedure she has had done.
Just can't imagine what it must be like to wake up to find your partner dead beside you. They do say most people die in the night, so it must happen quite often. :-( :-(
Conrad rang last night, as usual. He has sold THREE VILLAS this week, so is well pleased.
I believe our LOCAL pub has finally closed it's doors. Another VILLAGE PUB GONE. I don't know if, or when it will open again. I expect it's down to the Brewers.
I see we are in for a cold spell again after today. No worry to me, as I'm going no where. I've been told it could be up to 8/10 weeks before I am fully mobile. So sing will certainly be with us by then.
Ros said the snowdrops are all out in the back garden. I haven't been out there yet, but I know they do give a lovely covering in the borders.
Ros has ordered more Morphine liquid from the doctors, I just hope I have enough to last me until we can pick it up on Tuesday. I was up at 5.00 am this morning with RIB PAIN. At least it let Ros sleep in until 8.30. I had a COT sitting waiting for her when she got up.
Got to look at renewal for the car insurance, which is due 22/2/19. Plus MOT due, I know there is a couple of brake pipes that will possible need replacing, as they were advised last year. SO DEFINEATLY MORE EXPENSE. !!!
I trust you are all well, will pop back later. xxxx

Morning all
Dull here today with lots of clouds around.
What a good idea to have your ring done Ann, it's going to look beautiful when it's finished with the diamonds all around it.
Did you have a better nights sleep Frank now the stitches are out? How are you both today?
Hope the results of your eye screening come back good for you Anne. I'll keep my fingers crossed for good news. That must of been awful for the poor woman waking up to find her partner had passed away in the night. He was very young, have they found out why he died yet?
Well done to Jake on his paper round, I hope he manages a round during the week to. It'll be nice for him to have a bit of money in his pocket, although you're probably right Mandy, his first wages will all be spent. I should imagine. You never know though he may save a bit later on if there's something big he'd like to buy for himself.
Did you manage to get all the glue off your fingers Mel, they're nothing worse than dried glue. Mind you sometimes it's just peels off if you leave it to dry long enough.
There's no workmen next door at the moment so it's nice and quiet. I think the roofers were having problems just before they went home last night and didn't seem in a good mood. We offered them a cuppa and for the first time they said no so we left them to it and came in doors. It looked like they were having problems putting the roofing felt over the sides of the flat roof so have just nailed it on and left it hanging over the edge. They had also told us during the day that the neighbour on the other side, the one attached, had complained about the roof tiles, saying because they were different from the original slate tiles the join wouldn't be right so their side could leak. They want the whole of the back of the kitchen, where the two bits join to be tiled but the roofer said they're not allowed to touch the property next door. Something to do with the guarantee not covering them, so we're not sure what's going to happen. They still haven't rebuilt the top of the chimney yet. I think there was some tiling being done in either the kitchen or bathrooms to which is daft if the ceiling are sagging and they might have to come down and be redone. I definitely wouldn't employ this firm. I did try looking online for reviews but couldn't find any.
Going to mum's this morning while the workmen aren't here, I don't like going out when they're here, the last time we did that, when we got home, the end concrete post was broken. We like to keep an eye on them, if they can see us they're a bit more careful.

Oh dear Anne, how dreadful. Yes Mel, it IS awful to wake up and find your 'partner' lying dead beside you. It happened to my stepfather, he simply couldn't wake my mother up as she'd died suddenly in the night. We had to have a post mortem as it was a sudden death - it was horrible a complete nightmare. My grandfather died the same way, of a Quinsy. My granny found him dead when she went to wake him. They slept in separate bedrooms for whatever reason, so not quite the shock, but bad enough.

Well done to Jake getting him self a paper round, hope he doesn't get too weighed down with all the Sunday Mags. We haven't had papers delivered around here for a long time which is a shame.
Had the diabetic eye screening this afternoon but won't get the results for a couple of weeks. We arrived about 10 minutes early and I went straight in for the drops to be inserted then had to wait 20 minutes for the actual screening to be done,
I went to the pasties website but thought they were rather expensive but it was good they are delivered frozen.
Hope Frank has had his stiches out to make his life easier.
Bo my eldest SIL had some sad news the other day one of Stephen's favourite carers, who is in her 60's woke up to discover her partner who is in his 40's had died in the night as he hadn't been ill there will be a post-mortem. He was a wildlife photographer and has books published on the subject, they lived on the Welsh borders and it is very isolated so I don't know what she will do. He was in the middle of writing a novel apparently.

I hope Anne got on ok with her test today. Will she have to wait for the results?
Jane I thought it was a bit steep for 8 pasties but they must weigh quite a bit so the postage would cost quite a lot. I saw the name you mentioned so thought I would put it up for you.
I have been glueing some paper this afternoon and managed to get the glue (Bostic) all over my fingers and it even went under my finger nails so its been hard to get off and it feels so strange when you have dried glue on your fingers. All sort of closed in.
Frank our Les who lives in the cottage at the top of our drive has a walking stick that has four feet on it. He uses it indoors most of the time and said its great for when he feels unsteady. You should still get yourself a walking frame to steady yourself if youget up in the night. It would help a lot. Mum used to have someone come around every so often and she got things to put under the armchair feet to raise it up and something to pick things up with (which I broke a few weeks ago). I bought oh one for picking up things in the workshop as you can hardly move in there and he can't bend down. I bought it in Lidl and if they have them again I shall buy another one as this one has a magnet on the end too and the handles longer than mums one. Mum even had a gadget you hang on the side of your cup when making tea and coffee as she could'nt judge distances too well wiht the one eye.
Di got mum her walking frame from the old peoples home up the road where Di worked for a while. Its now sitting in our bedroom. Oh uses it sometimes when his back is bad and I have used it too when my back went out.
I hav'nt made any more crosses at the mo but have plenty of reeds in a poly bag keeping them damp and they are in an unheated room.
I have been having a fiddle this afternoon making the candles from the Harry Potter films. The ones that hang from the ceiling on nothing.
The was new Granchester on tonight and I shall have a look at that later on now oh has gone off to bed.wasw

Evening all,
Dreary and wet here most of the day ,the sun tried to peep through but only for a few minutes ,it's been so much milder though but i don't think it's going to last it should turn colder again over the weekend .
Hope you've got those stitches out now Frank you'll feel much better as they do tend to pull ,hopefully you'll have a better nights sleep too once they are out . Poor Harvey getting food poisoning i wonder what caused that has he eaten out ? or was it some thing he had eaten at home ?
Ann that's a good idea to get your ring remodelled it's such a shame to have it just sat in a drawer and not worn ,it will look pretty with a circle of diamonds round it .
We seem to have been on the go all day ,we nipped to get the fresh fruit and veg and called into the Age Concern shop as they sell lots of Jigsaws in there ,we got four lovely ones for two pound ,two of them are 2000 pieces !!
Jake was pleased he had his name down for a paper round and heard today that he can start off with a Sunday round ,so he starts this Sunday ,£6-50 for that round and he's hoping that he can then get a paper round for in the week at a later date as it's about £18 for the week ,it will give him a little money in his pocket ,we told him spend a little and save a little, but i expect the first pay packet will be spend it all !!!! :-D :-D
